COLOR BY DESIGN

She was very helpful with color education. Her edges are very clean, and her work is very good. She did paint a wall the wrong color, but she is coming back to fix that.

Nancy promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment to come to my home for color consultation. She confirmed the appointment 2 days in advance and arrived on time. Within 1.5 hours, I had a 7-color palette picked out for my new home. Unbelievable! I've been staring at paint chips and color books for weeks. Nancy makes it look easy. She asks some questions and finds items in your home for the beginning of the palette. In my case, it was the living room rug, couch and artwork. Working together, we proceeded from room to room, always referring back to the palette to make sure there was a flow. I am so excited about the colors I will be using. I want my home to reflect a peaceful, natural environment with a touch of creativity and boldness. I feel that Nancy helped me achieve this goal. I highly recommend her services. Paint is expensive and color can be tricky. Nancy left me with a nice folder with my color choices for each room recorded neatly on a worksheet. Also included are large paint chip squares for each color, recommended finish and quantity. Thank you, Nancy!

Nancy Johnson with Color by Design designed a color ?plan? for our home that is expressive of our personalities. Our home now has an appropriate identity that feels ?put together?. I believe the mood of my home should be a positive one. We wanted to explore bolder, more adventurous colors to express ourselves, and create an environment at home that is comfortable and elegant. We were tired of the off-white walls and flat white ceilings. My husband and I tried numerous attempts at color and ended up with what I referred to as a "circus house". The colors were too loud and definitely not calming and warm. Finding this balance was a daunting task. Nancy solved this problem for us. Hiring her was one of the best home improvement decisions we have made. Now that we've repainted most of the rooms on our main floor, I can happily say that I am excited to show off my "new" home. Her color choices for our home were brilliant! Each room just flows right into the other. She definitely has a talent for what she does. We spent a couple of hours one afternoon talking about the things that my family and I like to do. She walked through our home and took into consideration, our furniture, our artwork, etc. With that, she went from room to room choosing colors and worked out a plan with me. We should have hired her years ago! The house looks beautiful and we're still getting compliments from family and friends! Nancy is a pleasure to work with. She's very friendly and professional and I look forward to working with her on our next project.

We had a rather tight time schedule to re-do our kitchen to be ready for a graduation party. We originally hired Nancy to help us select the right color of wood flooring to go with our cabinets, and that went well so we continued using her to help with our selections of granite, backsplash tile and and wallpaint. As we got close to the end and were running out of time she even repainted some of the decorative painting in the kitchen and painted the laundry with her sister helping her. Nancy was very accomodating to our difficult schedules, coming over to the house or tile or granite shops to meet us any day of the week and any time. As her posting here describes, she has a strong focus on color selections, which is probably the most key thing in trying to pull together a room like this. We couldn't have achieved the results we did without her.

I called Nancy on Tuesday and she was able to come to our house on Friday. Nancy visited a coffee shop near my office that had colors that I loved. She and Cathy arrived on time and within 45 minutes had all the colors picked for our entire first floor (including the ceilings).

It went wonderful! Nancy came promptly and we started out picking colors. She went from room to room and picked out colors that coordinated with my furnishings and my taste. Also, she coordinated colors, so that the rooms would flow from one to the other, picked certain walls for accent colors, and overall took her time to make sure I was satisfied. And I was!

I called Nancy on Thursday. She called back that same day and we scheduled an appointment for a week later as I was going to be gone for a week. She called back on Friday morning to tell me her day had opened up if I was available that day. I was, so she came to my home and we spent about 2.5 hours selecting colors. I did not have the fabric samples for my master bedroom, so she took her color chart to another store to see my bedding and select a color for the mb. How nice...and beyond what I expected.

It was our good fortune to have Nancy assist us in the selection of the colors for our home addition. She saved us many hours of frustration and produced a color palette that enhanced the appearance of the addition beyond our expectations. Her suggestions were A-one plus.

It went very well and I would definitely hire her again. She is extremely knowledgeable and has been working with color for years (she is also a talented muralist). She shows up on time and is flexible about working around your schedule. How it works: Nancy comes to your house with color samples. Together, you look for a range of colors that will work-- with the light in the room, the furnishings, and what you'll use the room for. Or, for the exterior, the roof, the landscape, etc. You narrow the selection down. For an additional fee, Nancy will prepare samples on large pieces of poster board so that you can really get a sense of how they will work on or in your house (I did this and highly recommend it!). Then you make your final selection. I love the beautiful colors in my house, but the outside is just amazing. Neighbors have stopped me on the street to tell me how much they like it and how much it's changed the look of our block.
