Horribly. He showed up twice. He took an initial payment of $2,200 for materials and to start labor. Despite having a contract that stated he wouldn't get the next draw until he was 50% complete, he asked for an addition $500 after the second time showing up at the property. Original contract date was 3/31/2018. The second time he showed up was 4/14/2018. After that point, he stopped coming. On dates he said he would come, he would not show and would not call. When I reached out, I was met with a combative attitude and myriad excuses. After 8 weeks time of leaving an exterior wall of my home exposed and no clear date, I was forced to hire an attorney to begin the process of suing him. I also had to re-purchase the materials myself and hire another contractor. After further investigation, instead of making a single purchase for all of the materials, he split the order across 4 separate POs at my local Home Depot across several weeks. Clearly he used the funds I'd given him to fund other jobs so he could complete those. He also had $1,000 down payment for a garage contract that HE cancelled. We agreed that that money would apply to the siding. Now I'm out $3,600 to him and he has performed very little work and is giving my attorney the run around. It's looking like I will need to sue this unsavory individual, and even then I doubt he has anything to sue for. They are still in possession of materials I've paid for and have given no clear indication of when they will return that or the funds I'm due for the contract he cancelled.
