Bryan and his crew did 2 different jobs for us. The first was to demo an old concrete garage pad and block retaining wall in the backyard. They also pulled several wood fence posts and graded the whole yard. This spring they came back and excavated the front to widen our driveway and poured new steps, a sidewalk, and the driveway with concrete. We are extremely happy with Big B Concrete - Bryan was great to work with throughout the whole project and brought a lot of good ideas to the table. Many other contractors balked at the size and scope of our project but Bryan was game from day 1. I was impressed with the excavation and demo work they did, but I am absolutely blown away with the concrete work. Everything looks incredible and very high quality. I would recommend Big B to anyone.

Driveway removal and installation went smoothly. work was done within estimated time frame and workers were prompt and pleasant. The driveway looked great and remained in that condition for a full year and a half. During the second spring, the middle of the driveway developed pockmarks and started to chip peel and then crumble. We also noticed several pockma

The pad went wonderful, no complaints about the actual work. This had been the second time Brian Severs, Big B Concrete had done work for me. My issue is, 7 years after the work was done, Shirley Orwick, complained about the pad to the City of Columbus. The City of Columbus has notified me that I CANNOT use the pad for parking any storage of a camper, vehicle, trailer, etc.. After calling and sending a letter to Brian, I finally called him again to try and find out what the problem was. He stated he talked to a friend in the Zoning Dept. and was told there was no problem. Talking to a lady in the Zoning Department, it appears I do have a problem. I have to file for a Zoning Clearance and it's going to cost $90.00. I had already paid $1,800 seven years ago for the pad and now pay more. Talk about frustration! It isn't the extra money, but why didn't someone tell me seven years ago and fix it in the beginning? For someone who had done this work for so many years...why didn't Brian Severs complete the requirements in advantage...he could have added any cost to the contract. Now he states, "it's the homeowner is responsible to any permits. When a homeowner talks to a contractor, the contractor should let the homeowner that up front so the homeowner can have everything fixed before the work begins. We need to use contractors that know the requirements and work with the homeowner before the actual work begins.

They did a nice job. The concrete was poured and finished very nicely. The work was done last year, and so far the concrete shows no signs of cracking or other problems.

It went very well. The owner's sons did all of the work and they were real artists. We asked for some slight alterations and they were able to accommodate us.

Brian and his crew were prompt, professional, and did a good job for a reasonable price. My only concern was that communication was somewhat of a problem. Brian is a firefighter in his day job & was sometimes unavailable to talk or text. This resulted in some periods of my not knowing that status of the job.

The job started on May 27th by tearing out sections of the drive.  The old concrete had to be torn up and hauled off.  Then, the ground had to be leveled so that the water would drain away from the house. Several truck loads of dirt had to be hauled out. Brian and his team worked extremely hard and diligently to see that the job was done perfectly.

The job was done in phases since the driveway is so large (the driveway is shaped like a large "Y" with parking pads at each end).

The first phase was May 27 - June 4; the second was June 5 - June 23; and the third was June 24 - July 16.  There were 27 rain days during the period of May 27 - July 16.  That is why it took so long for completion.

Brian and his crew worked extremely hard all day long every day they were here.

I have had so many compliments on the driveway. It looks absolutely fabulous.

I took photos and videos from start to finish

Needless to say, they did an awesome job.

Started and finished on the dates they said they would, at the price the reasonable price they quoted; they were polite, worked quickly and neatly, cleaned up, and were gone. Couldn't ask for more,

I was impressed with Big B Concrete from the start because of their quick communications and accuracy of the estimates for the cost and length of time for the job. Brian Severs and crew were professional and did beautiful work. Mr. Severs designed the angles of the concrete to maximize drainage along the long driveway, installed a drainage pipe, and created a beautiful finished product - sometimes working between fairly tight spaces. I especially appreciate their help incorporating the existing electric dog fence!

Big B concrete showed up on time and as scheduled. They listened to exactly what we wanted and made it happen. The concrete had to be hand carted from the cement truck on the street to the walkway via a wheelbarrow and took several trips back and forth but they managed to not damage our lawn at all. Very nice surprise!
The crew arrived back this morning to remove the stakes and forms and it looks wonderful! We're so happy with it and would highly recommend them to anyone who asked.

The driveway looked great and remained in that condition for a full year and a half. During the second spring, the middle of the driveway developed pockmarks and started to chip peel and then crumble. We also noticed several pockmarks around the outside of the driveway. These did not deteriorate into larger areas as it had in the middle. At this point we began to write Brian emails with no response. We also attempted to call but continued to get a full voice mailbox. As the months went by we noticed new pockmarks developing. In another six months we had 3 to 4 areas (2on the driveway that Ihave actually turned to gravel?! Not sure how this can happen as the original driveway lasted over 30 years. We continued to email Brian monthly over this time and finally got a response. He came out and assessed and emailed us to say he didn't have a good explanation for it either. Buyer beware!

I would love for this to be a positive review because I THOUGHT Brian and his team did a great job and would have rated him an A in every category through the process. Everything went smoothly and he was very professional. The driveway was installed in August the summer before last, however......
......It didn't even last through the winter!
Once spring hit I noticed one of the squares was already starting to crumble. It spread to a much larger area quickly. I called and left a message and it took them over a month to get back to me. After hypothesizing on what "I could have set on it to cause it" said he would come out and take a look but was very busy. Another few weeks go by and I noticed another square of the driveway has completely cracked in HALF. Months have passed and I haven't heard from him since.
What should have been a 20 year driveway lasted about 0.5 yrs. Very disappointed. The quality of the product was definitely revealed over time as was their responsiveness.

Big B Concrete replaced my driveway, the initial timeline was two days, however because the size probably, it took them three days to remove existing driveway and put an new one. There were scheduling issues because of the weather, but once scheduled, it was completed with out any issues. I also had Big B Concrete come and seal my driveway and again we had some time scheduling issues, however, once it was scheduled they showed up on time were able to finish everything. The only issue I have is a color variation in the concrete on certain spots, they did mention that with time it should blend in. Only the time can tell.

First, you should know Big B is an actual guy, Brian Severs, not just a catchy company name. He is, indeed, BIG! I think he may have pulled up the old driveway by hand (kidding). Brian is a Columbus firefighter and a veteran. Because of his other job, one out of every three days he might be hard to reach on the phone, but it is no big deal. He was incredibly prompt to return calls if he missed them, and incredibly responsive to any questions or needs. Don't think concrete is just a "side job" for Brian, if I remember right his father did concrete and Brian has been doing it for 20+ years.
I don't know how to rave enough about the driveway. It is just perfect. The grade is perfect, the finish is perfect, he finishes the edges in a very attractive way, and the relief cuts (you have to cut concrete every so often to avoid cracking) are perfectly spaced and the cuts are straight. One anecdote about responsiveness - probably less than an hour after he finished pouring part of the driveway and went home, a squirrel (we think) ran across part of the driveway and left little footprints. I called Brian on his cell and he left dinner with his family and drove 30+ minutes back to our house with the tools to smooth over the foot prints before they dried. He didn't complain, and we chatted while he removed the footprints (that's how I learned more about his background).
My brother in law is a contractor who primarily installs decks and room additions. He has had to remove and/or install many concrete areas (porches, patios, etc.) as part of his job. He does some demo himself but always hires a contractor to pour new concrete if necessary. He looked at the new driveway, and was extremely impressed. He immediately asked for Brian's contact info for future jobs. My brother in law was also impressed with the price. He knows what concrete material costs, and what installation should cost, and said Brian gave us an "honest" price, which is actually high praise. I ended up getting four quotes for the driveway: $14,500, $12,000, $11,900, and $9,200 from Big B. Oh, and the most expensive of the two quotes said they probably wouldn't get to our driveway until Spring. I am not one to immediately pick the lowest bid, but I knew one very happy prior customer of Big B, and talking to Brian when he quoted the job I had confidence that he would do a great job.
In closing, I just couldn't be happier. He is coming back out in the next week or so to seal the driveway for a very good price as well - cost of the materials plus very little for labor. He is willing to seal the driveway for almost no profit just so it holds up better and we are happier overall with the driveway. Everyone should get 2-3 quotes for a job this big, I suppose, but I STRONGLY encourage you to make Big B Concrete one of them. I will never get quotes for concrete again - Brian is my guy for all things concrete.
