The oven did not heat on a Thursday evening, and I smelled gas. My husband was able to shut off the gas. He contacted AERO Appliance Service. This company uses a call service rather than voice mail. The service led my husband to believe we would get a call back that evening, which didn't happen. Instead he got a call back first thing Friday morning, and was able to secure an appointment to have the stove looked at that day. Mike, the service man, said there were two jobs ahead of us and he would be at our house when he finished with those. He arrived about noon. We were very glad to find someone who could help us so promptly.
Mike was not especially personable, but got the job done. He had the part on his truck, so no return visit was necessary. My husband was impressed with how Mike was able to maneuver in a very small area to hook up the new part.
Because we were in a hurry, we did not get other estimates. I don't know if this could've been done for less expense or not. The total bill seems like a lot. Part: $94.95, Service Call: $49.95, Labor $75.00. With tax it was $236.39. Maybe this is what it costs these days. This range is 7 1/2 years old, and I think cost in the realm of $600, so it seems disproportionately high for one part. When my husband asked Mike if this was something that happened often, Mike replied that he had the part on the truck, so we'll take that as a yes.
