TruGreen Lawn Care - 5680

We signed up for TruGreen in the Cincinnati area to come service our lawn and spray for mosquitos. They had a tech come 3 times and lie about servicing our lawn. My wife caught them through the window pulling up to the house, walking to the front yard to put a sign up, and then again to the back before just getting back in the car and leaving and marking us as “completed service”. This caused us to look back at the other two services and sure enough, same thing. They were charging us hundreds of dollars to put a sign in our front yard. Naturally, I called to speak to a manager to cancel service and he convinced us to stay under the promise that they would redo the services free of charge, and even threw in a few extras to keep us as customers. The very next time they serviced us, they double charged us. I called them to discuss the double charge and remind them of the deal we had made, and they said “No such deal was ever made” and then refused to give us our money back. This company stole from us in every sense of the word, and have been very untrustworthy every step of the way. I have never witnessed anything more unethical and slimy in my entire life. Save yourself a headache and save your cash, and look somewhere else.

If I could rate this company zero stars, I would. First service, they did not apply broadleaf weed control, as directed. Second service, they scheduled late (outside timer period due), then TWICE in a row, they no-showed, despite repeated text notices that they were “on the way.” This required my calling several times to the “corporate office” to get the service rescheduled. When they finally did show up, they AGAIN FAILED to apply broadleaf control, despite confirming with me that the account was notated. This company is poorly managed. Don’t waste your money.

So far everything has been good. The price is a little expensive. But they do a good job.

We used to have Scott's Lawn Service and were very happy with them. Unfortunately they sold to "Big Lawncare". Scheduled TruGreen 4 for lawn aeration and re-seeding. They called the day before they were supposed to perform the service, and then never showed - 4x!!! Also our lawn still looks like **** as there are weeds all over after the 1st of my scheduled treatments. When I cancelled my account through the app I didn't get an apology or any type of acknowledgment that they cared at all.

I have been using like a year long program with them. They've changed techs a bunch. I think in that business that's kind of typical. But I would say A with professionalism. I'll sign up with them again next year. They do retreat at no additional charge if you don't get the desired results. I've had a few challenges here. I do plan to reuse them. They need to allow technicians longer time for your appointment. I have a bigger lot. Of course it's not all grass, with the house, a shade and some landscaping and things...part of that sticking up but they only allow these guys nine minutes to treat the lawn. It's insane.

They could handle complaints better.

I purchased equipment and I'm going to be working on my lawn myself. I've been telling them to dethatch but they keep warning me that it would ruin the lawn. The services they provided were fine but it was not was I was hoping for. My yard still had yellow ugly spots in it and looked terrible. I still have a lot of weeds. They look on google maps to decide how much yard you have. I have trees, a creek and a flowerbed. I found out that they have been overcharging for over 2,000 square feet for every application this year since they only work on the grass. However, they are very responsive and punctual. They always call ahead. They give me some high pressure phone calls to give other services. There's nothing to clean up because they apply a water based chemical.

They do a fine job.  My lawn has never looked better.  The workers are very personable. They always come to the door first to let us know they are here.  When they apply weed killer, they want at least twelve hours to dry so they waited for me to be ready for it.

Every year they’d wait until the yard was white with blooms, then come spray.  I finally told them I couldn’t afford to keep doing that.  They were spraying 6 acres for me, I asked them to come out again before the weeds bloomed, but they didn’t get out here in time.  They were supposed to come back out in the fall, they didn’t get out soon enough and decided to wait until the spring.  Darryl told me they’d get it done again before the seeds bloomed, but they haven’t been in touch and I can’t get ahold of them. When I called they told me they thought they had been in touch with me. I also paid for deep root fertilization and grub control.

While they did put down chemicals and provided information about the treatment by the person doing the job, the actual administration was completed at an almost comically rapid pace. The company did it's best to talk me into an absurd number of treatments. I no longer use their services so perhaps they have changed. It seems every year every lawn service touts "new ownership". Perhaps that is their way of distancing themselves from the past years performance.

They left a gate open one time at our home and our small dog got out. I had to put a sign on both gates of the fence to remind them. The work is okay but they just need to be more conscience of the gate. They are always very nice to work with.

The only thing they accomplished that they said they would do was they eliminated dandelions. Everything else they failed miserably at. There was no communication and no follow up. They kept billing me for 9000 square feet, and I only have 5400 square feet of lawn. After two years, they came out, remeasured, and never offered to refund the difference being charged to me. I was not seeking a refund; all I wanted was an apology. I never got an apology. I wouldn't use TruGreen, never again. They are the worst on follow up. They have no customer service at all. Since I have dropped them, I have had 15 to 20 calls from managers asking for my business back. They are terrible, the worst I have ever seen. I have used them for 3 year and could never get any customer service.

The service is okay. I have had some issues in the past.

The first year the lawn looked okay, but they just couldn't get a hold on the weed situation. They would come back but it still wasn't good. The next year it was the same. They kept coming up with excuses on why it wasn't working. We told them we had a problem with a certain type of weed and we told them they needed to start early to get rid of it. They didn't address it. The second year it was worse. They didn't listen to anything I was saying. Then we got another kind of weed called Dallas grass and one of their top guns came out and said that it was a new weed that was really tough and we would have to dig it out ourselves. This year they keep calling us about every couple of weeks. They said that they have all new management and everything is better. We talked to another company this year and they said it was not a new weed and we didn't have to dig it out ourselves. Their price was lesser but they didn't take care of the problems.
