Initial paint job was unacceptable. Basement remodeling required the installation of a window well outside basement bedroom window. Incorrect installation of the window well caused foundation wall to buckle below the window and introduce water leaking into the basement. Contractor did not understand cause of leaking and did not offer to make it right. Had to bring in EverDry Waterproofing to remedy leak. Approximate cost was $15,000. Repainting and repair for water damage cost an additional $3,000. Would not ever use this contractor again. Do not recommend.

Description of Work: Home renovation involving redoing 3+ bathrooms, bedrooms, and family room. Shidler does superb work. We received many compliments on the results. I recommend them very highly. They also helped us with a situation where our "small" DIY project turned out to be far more complicated and we were in an emergency situation. They came out the same day and made sure the job was done correctly with the right kind of vapor barrier.

He did fabulous work, got the job done on time, was very easy to work with, a great problem solver, very patient with a 1st time renovator (me), and cleaned up well every day. The quality is outstanding. There are never follow-up problems with his work. He responded immediately when I needed emergency repairs on another house years later and when I had questions or concerns during the house renovation, he responded immediately. Marv knows how to provide inexpensive solutions which produced high quality results. One example was dealing with a very comfortable, original-to-the house,1958 cast iron bathtub which I wanted to keep. It's impossible to find a new tub of that kind on the market for less than $4000. The tub finish was worn and stained. Marv brought in a tub re-finisher who made the tub look totally new for a remarkably low price. We saved thousands of $ on that item alone.
Description of Work: Marv Shidler's work is outstanding. He has done several jobs for me at 2 addresses. Most recently, he responded immediately to an emergency repair and maintenance situation where I had tried to do 2 "easy" projects on an 1890 house and found the projects were over my head with cold weather on the way. One was the installation of a new door threshold and adjustment of a storm door. The 2nd and larger repair involved a waterproof membrane, new insulation, new siding, a new sill cover, and decorative trim for an area where there had been considerable water damage. Marv made sure the waterproof membrane was installed. Most contractors would not have bothered. This is one example of how much better and trustworthy his work is. The work looks great and is very well done. He was also my general contractor for a $45,000 renovation of a 11,000 sq. feet house. His work was superb. The renovation involved multiple rooms, including 4 bathrooms. With a 1958 house and what we wanted to do, there were lots of design considerations. Houses that age always have surprises. We wanted to keep some of the "old" items so he had to work around that. He did a great job of incorporating the "old" items with the new to produce up to date, in-style results. His solutions were creative and very successful. Marv's work was so good that it wasn't necessary to bring in an architect. There were numerous compliments from friends and colleagues who were impressed with the results and the quality of his work.
