Ray St Clair Roofing

Very detailed easy to follow estimate. Work crew showed up on time and did a nice job; they were clean and professional looking. Cleaned up work around the house very well afterwards. Inspector (from Ray St. Clair) came out a few days later to inspect completed work and review with me for sign off. Service done exactly how I expect and for a fair price. Definitely will use again in the future.

Going into this transaction I thought this company was very reputable. After the work had been performed I questioned how they received a good reputation. They did not clean up, unplugged hot-tub, undid outside faucets without putting hoses back on left old skylights in yard, told me they had finish work to do, but would not tell me what that was. Scheduled an appointment for follow up work no show! Have not submitted bill for payment. Now almost 30 days old. paid 8/31/06. The company has still not finished follow up work. After the work was performed we had a heavy down poor of rain, & our sump pump began to break up do to a clog in the lines. We went up on the roof & discovered my gutters are semi filled with shingle dust, debris which could of washed into my drains & caused the clog. I have pictures of this debris. If this debris would have been removed upon completion of work, I would not suspect the debris could have clogged my outside drain.

The company was very responsive and professional in responding to my request. I had already asked two other companies to look at the same leak. St. Clair was the only company to actually give me an estimate to repair the leak. The estimate for the repair was about half the cost of replacing the roof, which is what the other two companies recommended. And the work could not be covered by warranty. I did then ask them to give me a cost for replacing the roof. Their estimate was over 1/3 more than the other two estimates.

We worked with Dave Noonan. He did a roofing inspection and determined the problems with our roof. He also pointed out another problem unrelated to the roof which we were unaware of. He was very thorough and submitted the bid quickly. The crew that did the work was very professional and did a good job. We have not had any more issues with water intrusion. This crew did an excellent job of cleaning up. We are very happy with the results. After the job was finished they sent out a quality control rep to look at the job to make sure it was completed right. I was very impressed they actually have a quality control department.

Their professional estimator came first. The installer came out another day. Both gentlemen were impressive and knowledgable.

We invited Ray St. Clair Roofing to bid in a small project last year and although we ended up hiring another company, we were extremely impressed with their professionalism. For this job, we only invited them to give us an estimate but unfortunately the price was so high that we were forced to call some other companies and ended up contracting another firm that gave us a much lower estimate for the job. In terms of professionalism, information provided, and overall sense of quality, I believe it is hard to beat Ray St. Clair. However, if the job is relatively simple or if budget is an issue, there might be other options available.

Quote only- quote was very high. The quality of the quote was excellent, the detail very good, but the quoted price was more than double the Molloy price.

Kevin came out to give us the estimate. He had gotten lost and was late but called to let us know and get directions. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and a good salesperson. He measured the windows and even showed us how our particular brand of unusual screens came out. Unfortunately, his estimate for the shutters was double the other estimate that we had gotten, so we have elected to go with the other company.

It was tough to get hold of an estimator to schedule a time to come out to the house, however, once the estimator visited the house, he was professional and mailed us a written quote the next day.

Jim was so patient with us and worked very diligently to find the problem. He knew how worried we were and made sure that he didn't leave until we figured it out. He even checked out our other windows for us and helped with the caulking. He is highly professional and absolutely cares about his customers. I would recommend him to anyone.

I had previously used this firm several years ago to install gutter guards. When I called for service, they pulled my house up in their computer and SURPRISE the guys who came out to install my gutter guards several years ago, entered all the info about our roof (i.e. type and color of shingle) even though they had not installed this roof way back when the house was built. The guy I talked to said this was SOP for them so they could quickly respond to future service calls. Boy was I impressed! Anyway, they came out a few days later, did the repairs and sent me a bill for $150. Great value! Would certainly use again.

Overall the experience was good. They were very responsive to calls and questions about the quotes, and were able to schedule the work quickly. There were a couple issues with stains/dirt in the house following the work and we had trouble scheduling the QC inspection following the work. For this reason I am giving them an overall B on responsiveness.

They got the work completed reasonably quickly with only some minor delays. Overall, we are pleased with the work.

He quoted me a price of $17,000 for a new roof on a one-story house. It was ridiculous.

There was an accident and they provided me with a repair painter to correct it. They were absolutely marvelous. They call and let you know when they are going to arrive. They are wonderful people to get along with and all of the workers are polite. This is the way that companies used to be. They clean up after themselves. I will use them again if I need to.

A wind storm had blown a ridge vent off part of my roof. I called Monday morning. They said they were scheduling for about a week away! I asked if the ridge vent missing left a hole in my roof (heavy rain was in the forecast). They checked and said yes, and they could have someone come from another job during their lunch break for a temporary fix till they could get me scheduled. The repairman came during lunch and was able to reattach the roof vent with a permanent fix at that time. THANKS for great and fast service!

We found their prices to be exorbitant.

I visited the showroom on a Friday afternoon to view their products and get a ballpark estimate based on my measurements. The salesman scheduled an appointment for the following Thursday to do field measurements, but we had severe storms in the area that day and he rescheduled for Saturday. I rearranged my schedule to accommodate him, but he didn't show up or call to explain. On Monday, I called another company for an estimate, and signed a contract with them the following day. The Ray St. Clair salesman left a message on Tuesday apologizing for the mix up. I think this was a genuine mistake on the part of the sales guy, but this oversight didn't leave a very good impression, which is one of the reasons I went with the other company. The ballpark estimate I received was in line with the company I ultimately chose.

Ray St. Clair Roofing conducted themselves on a highly professional and efficient basis from initial contact through completion of job. A very good experience all around although a bit pricey.

They took pictures of what needed to be done. They could have told me I needed a whole new roof, but they didn't. Their work is very satisfactory.

Pete Stark, the estimator, was friendly, honest and easy to speak with.

Work was done promptly and completed in short order. Workers were very polite and professional. Work was reasonably priced.

Again, two years in a row other vendors were quoting us to replace our entire roof. Ray St. Clair did spot repairs for us and said despite the age of the roof, they told us that it was still holding up quite well. If we would have had to re-roof the house, we would have had to cancel our family vacation in order to cover the extra expense.

Ray St. Clair is a very professional operation. They have a job supervisor that only oversees jobs in progress. After the work was completed, the supervisor met us for a final inspection of the work performed. The roof has not leaked at all during the spring rains. The vinyl siding looks great, and the Gutter Topper will keep the leaves and nuts out of the gutters.
