Professional all the way through - really impressed. More expensive than others, but if you want piece of mind and for them to take their time and do a good job, they are a great choice. They found some cheap mistakes made by original roofer and fixed those and kept us informed the whole way through. We had communication with the on-site crew leader (team of four - one was a vet who'd been roofing since he returned from Kuwait in the 90s) and their supervisor the whole time. After the work was all finished, the supervisor came by himself, was on the roof for nearly two hours doing quality control, then came inside and told us all the improvements and photos. If you want a roofing job that takes one day, is cheaper in price, and with little/no quality control, then they might not be your best choice.

They were wonderful. That was a year ago. The quality of the work and the follow up was very good. I used them for a 2nd job. The roofing work was about 8000 dollars. They were punctual. The estimate was spot on. There was no surprised and the work has held up for eight years.

After researching Angie's List and checking pricing for chimney caps, we chose Ray St. Clair Roofing due to there highly rated reviews. An appointment was made for the next day for an estimate with a cost we accepted based on what we knew and expected from our research. An appointment was immediately made for the following week. Provider called prior to arrival and arrived as scheduled. New cap was installed and old cap material removed within an hour with no surprises or extra fees. Would highly recommend their work for this type of project.

It went great. They came in order to inspect my roof. After that they sent me pictures of the damage, and they gave me an estimate for the repairs. Then they set up a date and time for the necessary repairs. The repairman let me know when he arrived and then again when he left. He was very professional, and everything looked just great after he left.

Last winter while on vacation I get a call from a different roofing company who we bought a Big Deal from to clean the gutters and inspect the roof. Imagine if you will getting emails and a phone call showing the roof starting to sag over the living room! Apparently when the roof was constructed - there wasn't adequate ventilation in the extension and moisture built up along the boards in the roof. Eventually the boards softened and started to sag! At first we were being quoted by other companies anywhere from $8,000 - $18,000 for a total roof replacement. Luckily we contacted Ray St. Clair as an extra opinion and they pointed out that the rest of the roof was in good shape, just this one section had the problem For a significantly more affordable price we were able to replace just the section of impacted roof and tie in the new roof into the existing roof. It's not that Ray St. Clair is cheap, they were just willing to do only what needed to be done and forgo the "bigger" job. For that I'll be calling them up for any roof service I need from now on. They were excellent.

Our rating for Ray Saint Clair Roofing is actually an A+ across the board. We could not be more impressed with how the crew, manager and quality control guy handled this project. Here's what went right: 1. They provided a comprehensive quote and took an hour patiently walking us through the details of the warranties, materials, specs, and what to expect for the job in terms of activity and timing. 2. They made promises to us, which they kept and exceeded on many occasions. 3. They made smart recommendations that fixed problems with the original roof, including the synthetic underlayment and plastic washers sealing underlayment nails. 4. From the top down every employee communicated with clarity and respect - even after 6 hours in 95-degree heat. And they were friendly, brief and professional to our neighbors and kids. 5. They asked the right questions such as where we wanted them to put the palate of new shingles, how early they could arrive, and if we were having company on our deck over the weekend. Then they promptly reset all of our patio furniture. 6. Sorry, but at times we could hear their conversation from inside our house. We were encouraged that mostly focused on the best way to install every aspect of the roof. The nail pounding was loud but so what. 7. They kept their language clean, which was appreciated since we have younger kids. And they thanked and complimented our kids on the cookies they made for their crew one day. 8. They cleaned up every night like the job was already done, used a rolling magnet to pick up any old nails from the lawn, put all equipment and supplies under tarps and secured any ladders to the house after they asked if they could leave them up over two nights - which we agreed. What were the challenges, and how did they handle them? 1. After the first day it rained for 6 days straight. It's not ideal or safe to replace a roof in the rain. No problem. 2. Our roof is complex with 14 different slopes. It's extremely steep at more than 45 degrees. You can hardly stay on the roof without ropes, and it's three floors to the ground in the back of the house. Our crew of 5 guys strapped in every moment they were on the roof. They took every precaution and that made us comfortable for their safety. They never complained about how hard this job was, although I am sure it was the most difficult they worked on this summer. 3. After the rain, we had 10 days of 95-degree heat. The surface temperature of the shingles was 137 degrees. I do not know how they got through it. They arrived at 6:30am and left at 1:30pm. At the end of each day they looked like they were dragged through a forest by a plane - yet composed themselves enough to professionally answer a few of our questions. 4. There were problems. The turbo vent was accidentally damaged, some gutter screens were bent, and the downspout needed alignment. They replaced the vent and screens and adjusted the downspout. Their quality control guy apparently had the crew replace some shingles and tweak several other things. What helped things go well? 1. We helped by being patient. The job was quoted in late May and finished in early-August after some weather-related delays. At every turn we simply said "no problem, just install the roof right". 2. We were realistic. We were not interested in a roof installed by a dozen guys so we knew it would take a month or so with 5 guys doing it right. We accepted that there would be issues, and let their team resolve them. Every roofing job probably has issues. Our opinion is that if you approach your crew as a partner you'll probably improve the outcome. 3. We paid for quality. While we had a quote for 30% less, we went with Ray Saint Clair because we saw them install two other complex roofs that turned out great. We got the great quality we expected. Our neighbors are impressed and that's kind of cool. 4. This company is trying to serve their customers the right way. Five of our neighbors said the roof looked professional, two said they were going to call them in the next year, and one is already scheduled for a roof replacement starting in two weeks. For a variety of reasons our experience with Ray Saint Clair Roofing was great, and we would recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: Removed old 3-tab shingles and replaced with CertainTeed synthetic underlayment, ice guard, ridge vents, soldered tin flashing and 5-nail Landmark 130 mph dimensional shingles. They re-pitched a gutter and relocated a downspout to redistribute rain water more evenly.

My experience with them was very good. It was a very positive experience all around. They were pretty quick with the turnarounds. In terms of me calling them and saying, "Hey, I need to get someone out here to do some work because the first contractor I was going to go with was taking a long time with my neighbor's place, so I didn't want to go with them anymore." When I called them up they came out quickly and gave me an estimate. It took them a while to get started, but once they did, everything went quickly and smoothly. They resolved any outstanding issues promptly. I thought things were priced fairly. It was snowing, so they got behind scheduled on another job. It took them a few weeks to actually get started on mine.

Gary picked up the appraisal within a week of that and we still are without a new roof. Many phone calls later, we finally called the office yesterday and asked to someone else because he refuses to call back. He called back within two hours and promised to call back by the end of business that day with a price quote and he'd provide a written estimate. It is now 11:00 the NEXT day and no phone call! This is two months after the original meeting and we'd love to work with them but they won't get back to us. Two neighbors who started this process two weeks before us with Mr. Roof has had brand new roofs for well over a month. Now granted we've had some questions about the appraisal and what Ray St. Clair in proposing to do but we have waited weeks for answers. Unfortunately we still don't have a new roof! Guess its time to consider another company!

I am SO IMPRESSED with Brian Prince who came out to my house to clean the roof! He was professional, kind, and helpful. It was clear that he is someone who is committed to excellence in the work he does. He cleaned the roof very well and paid attention to details. He also went above and beyond by spraying down the siding and external area of the gutters so that they looked WAY better than when he came. After he was finished, I noticed he even hosed down my plants so that there wasn't residue left on them. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his work. It's this kind of attention to detail that makes a consumer want to use a company over and over again, and Ray St. Clair is certainly fortunate to have Brian as a part of their business!

I was pleased with the work - it was done as explained at the cost given. They worked with my insurance company to help cut the cost. The only issue I had was finding about a dozen roofing nails in my driveway after the work was completed. We found these so there were no issues, but I did let them know about the problem. They did come out and rechecked the area around the house and found several more roofing nails that I had missed.

I was told the 20 year warranty didn't apply. They repaired where the roof was leaking. Within a year it was leaking again & I was told we would need a whole new roof & again the warranty would cover again anything. So we called someone else they repaired the areas that needed repairing & it has been 2 years & we haven't had any more leaks.
