Bernecker Brothers did a fantastic job on my roof and gutters. They also sealed a leaking sky light. Work was done on time and on budget. I have also used them on other projects. John is very honest and will let you know if you only need a repair or full replacement. I would highly recommend them.

The Bernecker Bros helped us get everything we needed to submit information to our insurance company. There after they quickly got our roof finished before all of the spring rains. As mentioned our house has an extremely difficult pitch and detail involved. They had no issue with the task and did a great job. Our neighbors were pleasantly surprised and have since used the Bernecker Bros as well.

The work started and ended and appeared to be fine.  A few weeks later I noticed a dripping sound inside my bedroom wall.  A few days later a water stain appeared on my kitchen ceiling.  We called them and they came out and resealed around a roof vent where the problem was coming from.  I had my brother-in- law Tom check their work after they left and he found that the vent had been resealed but the gutter guards only covered half of the rear gutter.  Bernecker Brothers came back out a second time and finished the gutter guards, but I had  Tom once again inspect their work.  Bernecker Brother had laid the gutter guards in place loosely but had not screwed them down.  A third call had them screw the gutter guards down which they did.
I didn't appear to have any problems until the summer of 2011 when I had water leaking through a lighting fixture in my family room.  During a light rain,  water began leaking in from the celing around the ceiling light and onto the carpet.  I called Bernecker Brothers who came out immeditely.  While I was away for the weekend, Steve Bernecker told me that the problem was coming from my chimney and that he resealed the chimney and that the problem was almost assuredly fixed.
A few months later, I noticed that once again the ceiling was leaking water.  I called again and a crew was sent out.  I personally witnessed this crew of two lifting shingles up to check  nails and laying them back down. This crew included Dick Bernecker.  They left after not being able to find the problem, but not before I noticed from the gound that the lifting of the shingles had itself caused some damage.  A second crew came the same day which included Steve Bernecker who once again began to lift shingles in the same areas and lay them back down.
He told me that a mistruck nail had been found and that this was probably the probelm.  It rained that night and water once again began to leak from the ceiling.  I called again and they said they would return, but in the meantime, I had called a different roofing company to come and inspect this roof and give me his assessment.
This is a list of the items that  were found:
1. flashing wasn't replaced, it was reused and the nails over the flashing were not even sealed and these nails were pulling away from the roof.
2. flashing around the chimney was reused and the caulking around the chimney was done in an unprofessional manner.
3.damage was done to the shingles where Bernecker had pulled them up and set them back down several times.
4.The sealing around the roof vent where my first leak came from was  globbed on in a big mess, and the boot around the vent had been reused.
5.The roof vents had been reused, even though they were in bad shape.  The nail heads to hold the roof vents were not sealed down and were pulling out.  The end caps were all missing which would allow birds or squirrels into the attic.
6.The metal valleys were all cut too short and they did not even reach to gutters.  This means that rain was coming down the ridges, going between the gutter and the facial boards and dripping on the ground.  This would expose the wood facial boards to rotting over time.
7.There was evidence that felt paper was not even used as a proper underlayment. 
After the initial shock of what was found, I told Berecker not to return.  I later spoke with Steve Bernecker.  I began to address these and other issues with the roof one at a time.  Each item was excused by a silly response.  I addressed the issue of the area of the roof that did not appear to have felt paper under and he excused it as " you know how guys are, he was probably thinking of his girlfriend and missed a small spot".  I became angry and hired an attorney.
A letter from my attorney was sent to Bernecker Brothers and the response was shocking.  Richard C. Bernecker responded with a letter that states the following  "We have no idea what the are talking about, unless the roofer that inspected it was looking for work or Mr. Janszen does not like the color".
We all met at my home a few months ago. Those who were present (myself, Richard Bernecker, my attorney, a roofing contractor representing myself, and two roofing contractors representing Bernecker Roofing).  A thorough inspection was done by all involved and each of the preceding issues were addresses and several others were found. 
The meeting ended with Richard Bernecker agreeing to get back with my attorned in a timely manner and sending a proposal.  Several months have passed and there has been no response.
I have been extremely patient and have done everything I can do to keep this out of the court system.  I have been extremely patient in not writing this review earlier.  It is now Novermber 2012.  I still have water coming in my family room and a water stain in my kitchen and serious issues with my roof.
