The snow plow did not come until about 5:15 P.M. and there wasn't much daylight left.  I had asked to be called first, and he did call from the truck before he started up the drive.  The driveway is about 150 feet long.  I informed the driver that my drive is gravel, and asked him not to go too deeply.  He proceeded up the drive at a fast pace.  I could see a lot of dark matter being dug up with the snow and piled to the side.  After a few more turns he stopped the truck and came over to where I was standing.  He asked me to pay him then, even though he wasn't even halfway through.  I had seen dark matter being scraped up each time he made a swipe.  I told him it looked like he was digging up a lot of driveway.  He muttered something about the blades being heavy.  And he just stood there waiting to be paid.  I guess he knew he was damaging the drive and was afraid he wouldn't be paid.  I went ahead and paid him, against my better judgement, because I am a small female, elderly, was home alone and he was not exactly friendly.  He proceeded to fly around the driveway, digging up more and more of the surface, and soon finished and left.
It wasn't until the snow was melted, days later, that I could see what a lot of damage was done to my driveway.  Piles of gravel have been dumped over in the grass.  All the gravel is gone from the drive in spots.  The rest of the gravel has been disturbed so you can hardly walk over it.  There are low areas void of gravel where water now stands.  I had put long planks at the side of the turn-around where the drive ended and the grass began.   I had shoveled the snow off these boards so the driver could see where the drive ended.  But he just continued on beyond the boards and dumped them in the yard along with the gravel and dirt dug up.
The drive is a total mess.  I'll have to hire someone to get the gravel out of the grass, not to mention resurfacing the driveway.
I called the owner of the company, Ken Weekley, but he was not in.  I left a message with the person answering the phone, asking the owner to call me.  He never called.
I then wrote a letter to the owner explaining the damage his driver had done and asking for a refund as well as some help restoring the driveway.  He totally ignored the letter.  I have not heard from him at all.
I have lived at this address fourteen years.  I have had the drive plowed many times.  No one has ever damaged the driveway, not even my neighbor who voluntarily plowed the drive several times.  Now a professional has torn it up, and will not even respond to my complaint.
