"This was a great customer. We installed the fence and followed appropriate channels for underground locating. OOPS wa called and tje property was marked. OOPS does nort make privatly installed lines and thus this particular line was not marked. At the time the customer was informed of the damage and our installer was told that the customer was not concerened about it. At that time it was also mentioned that the customer is resposable for any underground obstructions. The story has never changed from the time the line was hit. I do feel badly about the incadent but we can not be held resposible for somthing we were not informed of. We had no way of knowing about this lines existance. Again I do feel badly but we should have been informed of is it location"
After a few months, I noticed all my fence posts were showing signs of twisting, as the caps on the top were no longer and quot;squareand quot; and there was minor and quot;cuppingand quot; of the 2x4 cross beams. I was not happy with what was happening, and felt like if I had known these things and quot;typically happen with wood fencesand quot;, I wouldn't have been as angry. The gate Crest Fence installed, within 3 weeks of install, was beginning to sag in the center. I was examining it, thinking the hinges looked weak, but I wasn't sure. I felt the need to write a letter explaining the things I saw happening to my fence and gate (everyone says get these things in writing!) Per my letter of July 6, 2011, I informed Crest Fence about the twisting posts, the cupping 2x4's, and portion of fence bowing inward that looked bad. I told him there appeared to be severe vertical cracks in the posts at the point of nailing which concerned me as far as having to re-stain soon to protect the fence from the elements. I informed them the gate was inoperable, and had cupping 2x4's as well. The salesperson called me, saying he would send someone out to look at these problems, and quot;some time next weekand quot;. The week would go by, and no one would show up. I would wait another week or so, and call to ask when, and would get the same response, and quot;some time next weekand quot;. Between 7/16/2011 and 1/19/2012, I called at least 2-3 times per month asking if they knew when someone would come out. Apparently they had come out to repair the bowing rear fence. When I looked at the results, it appeared the fence was now bowing outward, vs. inward. I took photos for myself, as I was very unhappy with such an unprofessional looking job. I wrote a second letter Dec. 19, 2011 after not having the gate repaired to my liking. I explained I couldn't open the gate without damaging it, and that they knew of all these issues since July. I informed them that saying they would be and quot;out next weekand quot; and not fulfilling their obligation was unprofessional. Finally, they came out in Jan. 2012 to meet with me and go over all the issues. Repairs were completed 1/19/2012. I spent an awful lot of money and Crest Fence's lack of prompt followup, coupled with making incomplete repairs (gate was repaired 4 times and in the least expensive manner) was frustrating.
