Trey Gockenbach (TG Electric) was referred to me by my next door neighbor. I had asked who had done the mini-LED light installation because it was great looking. His recommendation was that Trey was really good and his charges were reasonable. I contacted Trey by phone and asked if he would be interested in quoting on installing light fixtures which would require new light boxes. In addition, I was expecting a new stove to arrive soon that would require wiring to a new 3- prong electrical cord, so that I would not have to rewire outlet for 4 prong connection (checked with City of Columbus, this is code compliant, and it’s much more efficient and less expensive than to have wire pulled through the house to the circuit box in basement). I was in the early stages of doing my kitchen update and lower and upper cabinets below a soffit area were scheduled to be removed, so he said to call back when that area was clear and he would take a look.
After cabinets were removed I called and on May 14, Trey stopped by to take a look at all that I wanted done (adding new fixtures not yet purchased for upstairs bath). I thought he was just going to give an estimate but he said let’s take care of what could be done right then, so I jumped at the chance to get the light boxes installed and just hoped he would be charging a reasonable fee. He installed a light box in the LR corner ceiling where I want to install a pendant light above where a dining table will be located. There was only an outlet near the baseboard, so he fished electrical wire through the ceiling joists, cutting minimal drywall at upper wall which was repatched with the same drywall piece, and installed the ceiling light box and wall switch. The second light box was attached to one of the wood supports in the kitchen soffit area, so that I can have a larger flush mounted ceiling light installed above the sink, where upper cabinets used to be.
On May 15, I got word my new stove would arrive next day between 8 am – 12 noon. I called Trey to let him know that I would soon be ready to have the cord installed so that I could plug it in and make sure it worked (had 48 hr time frame to check and report if not working). Today, May 16, he called after 12:30 and arrived within the hour, and had the electrical cord installed in no time.
Altogether these 2 separate service trips totalled $160, which I feel is very reasonable (especially compared to an estimate from another electrical contractor I won’t name, but is listed on Angies List.) I will be calling TG Electric back when the new light fixtures and bath ventilation fan/light are on-site to have Trey install during one visit. I want to add that the Angies List info on TG Electric is inaccurate. Mr. Gockenbach’s business card indicates he has 40 years experience, and he is licensed and insured. Watching him fish electrical cord through ceiling joists with persistence and not cutting additional drywall shows his expertise. I appreciate that the wall patch will be an easy mud and paint fix.

I called Trey after a contractor i'm using couldn't figure out a 4 way switch configuration from a basement remodel that took place over 8 years ago. It appeared that the original contractor didn't follow electrician guidelines and we were going to need an electrical expert to figure out how to get things reconnected. Trey came and what he thought would be a very simple job, turned into a nightmare of having to disconnect every switch, trace the wires using his fancy tools and get things reconnected properly. He even had to drop one of the can lights because and quot;something wasn't rightand quot;. He found that above the light, the original contractor had and quot;jumperedand quot; a wire of some sorts.
In the end, Trey figured it out, got everything reconnected and operational.
Job well done.

Trey is great - we use him for all our electric needs. Will continue to use him again and again as the need arises. While I cannot remember how much we spent for each of the times we hired him, we felt that his rates were quite reasonalble.

Mr Gockenback arrived on time on each of the three days he performed the work for me. He was professional, polite, and worked diligently from start to finish. His initial inspection and evaluation was provided at no charge, and his overall bill was less than his quoted hourly rate, which he discounted. He worked a total of 9 hours on the job, and everything was repaired to my satisfaction.
