Took longer than expected to schedule, but when they were scheduled they showed up as promised and completed the job efficiently and professionally

It went really well. They did what they said they would do, the quality of the work were good, the people were nice, the pricing is right and competed the job within the time frame.

MAJOR ISSUES: Damage to furniture and job still not completed after two years. This is a follow up review for a job that had two parts. I have already submitted a review for part 1 (interior painting and deck) which was a great experience and I gave all A’s. The ending, unfortunately, turned out to be very negative, and this review is for that part of the job. I contracted initially in 2017 with Haas for some interior painting and partial sanding and staining of a back deck and a front porch. I worked with Josh. The job was scheduled for July 2017 and all but the front porch was completed. The front porch was delayed as we were having an issue with carpenter ants, and also the weather was a factor. I had the ant issue resolved and notified Josh that we were good to go on the front porch. The front porch is tiny, maybe 5 ft x 8 ft, with a couple of supporting beams and a small step. Not a big job at all. Things started to unravel before the painter even left after the interior painting. He was upstairs packing up to leave, and I was downstairs in the kitchen when I heard this horrendous crash. Painter said nothing. Later I went up to admire the work and noted a big ugly dent/gouge on the drawer of a bookcase unit. This was definitely not there before, and obviously related to the loud crash. The painter was by himself and probably in a hurry, trying to gather up everything to leave. Josh agreed to reimburse me to have the damage repaired. Back to the porch: Josh was not able to come back out to do the porch that summer. Also we were traveling in September, so I told Josh it would be OK to do the porch the following spring/summer of 2018. We do travel some in spring and fall but are otherwise home, including all summer. I was always careful to notify Josh of our specific travel plans and availability. Also I am retired and usually home during the day. I would periodically email Josh, asking when he could come out and finish the work. He would reply but give no specifics. Josh did not return to complete the job during entire year of 2018. In 2019, Josh and I met in early June to discuss the job. I distinctly remember him saying he would finish the work in July. I was excited and told him if would be OK if he came in August. We are traveling again in September so I definitely wanted the job completed before then. There was never any mention of doing the job in September. Well… July came and went, and I emailed Josh once again asking if he was coming in August. He replied that he had me on the schedule for mid September when it would be cooler! At this point I was livid. This made no sense. I emailed back that we were traveling in September and why would I agree to have the job done in September and why would I care about the weather. It seemed that once again he was dragging this ordeal out, and I realized that the job would likely not be done in 2019 - a repeat scenario. At this point it was TWO years since the date of initial contract! And we were available for most all of that time except for a few weeks of travel. Perhaps they are understaffed or just inefficient. Something is wrong. I was more than tired of playing the waiting game, and annoyed and surprised exactly WHY he had me on the schedule for SEPTEMBER??? This was the last straw - I was done with Haas. So I told him I would use someone else for the job. This whole ordeal has caused us a lot of stress. Plus the front porch is peeling, and continues to look terrible while we’ve patiently waited for the job to be done. We would never hire Haas again nor recommend them.

Josh Nye is very impressionable! He is very competent and professional. This company did an excellent job in replacing rotten cedar wood trim on the exterior of our house. Omar is an outstanding carpenter and he did an outstanding job with replacing and staining the cedar wood trim to match the color to the existing/aged cedar wood trim. The staff is great with details and they will respond to your service calls promptly. KUDOS to a great company!

John and Josh were great to work with as well as their crew. Work was done as planned. I was kept informed of the progress and timeline. We got done a week before we had planned,which was great. The work completed looks amazing. So pleased,would highly recommend and will have them again.

Highly recommend Haas Painting; great customer service during the entire process. We contacted two A+ painting companies from Angie’s List at the end of April. Although I received prompt replies from both companies, the distinguishing differences that awarded John Haas our business was the fact that he met us in person promptly to review/ quote the job and took the time to ensure he would be using the correct type of paint for our stucco house. We also extensively researched both companies website and the reviews and gallery pictures for Haas Painting were impressive. Once we accepted the quote, we were added to their schedule. Six weeks later, John and his crew leader Victor walked us thru the expected process on day 1 of the job. Victor and his crew completed pre painting caulking, removed gutters, covered windows, taped off trim and other areas, removed shutters and Coach lights, and protected landscape shrubs and flowers. The entire crew was very detailed to ensure precise painting, friendly (especially to our cat that loved watching every move thru the windows ), and cleaned up every day. The crew painted our entire 4,500 sq foot two story house, detached garage, along with painting the trim. We also had them touch up some wood shutters on the back of our house and they even fixed a few that cracked over the last harsh winter. Overall, the team completed our job in about 6 days and their painting skills are amazing! Very pleased with the result and will definitely hire Haas Painting again for all of our painting needs.

I did the research, chose Haas Painting, and was pleased to find that they met or exceeded the high expectations set by their reviews. I worked with John and crew chief Alberto, and both were gracious experts. Every detail was covered, from caulking gaps to replacing weather strips on garage doors. They cleaned up every day, kept me informed of progress, the price was competitive, and the result was fabulous. It feels good when a decision works out this well. Highly recommended.

In September of 2017 Haas Painting completed a total exterior repainting of my home, which is a 4000 sq. ft. two-story colonial. This work included preparation and painting of the siding, trim, gutters, shutters, light fixtures, and decorative railings. I also had Haas replace several hundred feet of the original wood trim with Hardiplank, a fiber cement synthetic. I delayed writing a review until the spring of 2018 to be able to judge how the work held up through an initial winter season. I am very pleased with the job performed by Haas and highly recommend this company. The owner, John Haas, is very personable, knowledgeable, and forthright. He truly cares about his customer first, crew second, and himself third. John provided a mid-range quote, but a very high end product and commitment to quality and satisfaction - which is the combination that I seek in my contractors (i.e. best job at the most reasonable price, not necessarily the cheapest). John's crews have been with his company for many years and my crew leader has been with him since the inception of his company around a decade ago. The crew was punctual and professional. Hard working, no swearing or smoking, easy to work with. The prep work was thorough and the paint quality was excellent. Two coats were applied, with the first coat back-brushed (rolled) to assure penetration. [I did research the paint in advance and paid a little more for Benjamin Moore Aura - which I highly recommend.] The paint and caulking has held up very well for the first six months, in fact, it looks just as good as when it was applied. As with any contractor and job, some things don't go perfect. Despite my express desire for Hardiplank to be used wherever possible, John did switch to a different product when the initial batch of Hardiplank was exhausted. I did not catch this until the material had been installed. The good is that the alternate material was, to my research satisfaction, as good as Hardiplank - the bad was that I was not told of the substitution. Another minor note was that plastic trim needed to be used in a few places where Hardiplank was not available in a long enough piece. The crew ended up using this material in a few places where they shouldn't have. However, John apologized for this and offered to review and replace these spots with Hardiplank. I declined, as this was too minor to set back the time-line of the project. Nonetheless, it speaks to John's focus on customer satisfaction. The quote from Haas was within 10-15% of other highly reputable companies, some below and some above. I believe that Haas operates in the space which puts quality and customer satisfaction first, and a fair price for the company to follow. At the end of the day, Haas Painting is a small company doing fantastic work at a good price. If you are a customer, you can help them by paying attention to the work, and letting them know if anything needs their attention.

Mr. Haas and his team were awesome. We've had two really awful experiences in the past with local painting companies. Working with Haas Painting was effortless. We signed a contract in the spring but waited to have the work completed in the fall. They were very accommodating in that we had a drainage issue on our patio that needed addressed. The team not only painted our stucco, trim, gutters and screened porch (both inside and out) but they replaced a substantial amount of rotted wood in our 25 yr old screened porch. They also replace a dozen large screens on the porch. They practically rebuilt the porch.

We contracted with Haas Painting to do the following: Powerwash the house, caulk fill and repair cedar siding and trim as needed, paint 2 coats of semi-transparent stain on siding and trim, and power wash the deck. Our experience with Haas painting has been exceptional from the meeting to discuss an estimate to the final review for payment. All crew members introduced themselves and were available to answer any question we posed to them. They arrived early in the morning and took advantage of all the light. The crew was well organized and the job was done seamlessly. All materials were cleaned up at the end of the day. They removed each downspout to make sure the wood behind would be properly painted and protected all glass areas so that there would be no spatter. They even made sure my mailbox matched the house! We highly recommend Haas Painting Company and they will be first on our list should the need for their services arise in the future.

Omar did an amazing job painting - very experienced & does quality work. He is very talented & adept at any kind of painting - inside and outside. Also efficient & professional. Josh was very professional, with a very clearly explained quote, which I appreciate. I was slow in responding to the quote from Haas and they were slow in scheduling me, but I think I contributed to this. Very well, very nice looking, very quality work. Pleasant, hard working, and respectful crew. The quote was higher than I expected, but after watching the workers and how much they did, such as removing gutters, being very meticulous about not getting paint on the driveway or siding, I now think the price was good for all the work they did. The only oddity was how the crew came and went. We thought they would start on Monday, and this was only confirmed when we heard them hammering on the house! I thought they would knock at the door or something. Perhaps others prefer not to be bothered. This is not a bad mark, I just found it odd.

I am a very satisfied customer. Josh, the point of contact, was timely, professional and responsive. The job was fairly priced and completed with quality workmanship. I recommend Haas and will use again for my painting needs.

Good prep work followed by careful painting with a steady hand. Good clean up each day. Care taken around plants also.

You should hire this crew! The owners are very professional and responsive. We were impressed from the first meeting and they delivered on all promises. The crew was efficient and friendly - could not ask for better workers. Everyone arrived on time and they finished the job quicker than expected. I would hire them again tomorrow and will tell everyone I know to hire Haas.

John Haas was a professional to work with. He was responsive to all of my questions and prompt for appointments. He and his partner were at my house some time each day to oversee the job. When I wasn't home, I was provided pictures through text messages. The two painters were also prompt each day and worked diligently. I picked this company because I wanted an owner to work with. I liked that they were able to replace the few boards that had to be done and were able to check out the drip from a gutter. (Another painting company on Angie's List told me that I would have to contact their carpenter for the boards and a gutter company to seal the end cap of the gutter. I chose not to work with so many people.) The price of the job was comparable to other estimates that I received. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again. My house looks great.

Haas Painting Company came recommended and they more than delivered. Communication was great all around. Work was completed on schedule. The paint crew was top notch, friendly, cautious with our stuff, extremely efficient and zero mistakes. It looks great everywhere. It really couldn't have gone any better.

They did an amazing job. Very friendly and great service. They did great job in communicating how the project was going. Victor did an excellent job in painting the house and he even replaced some boards that needed replaced. I felt they took care of our hose like it was their own.
