The only thing I would say that was is that they didn't full disclose certain things about purchasing the property. I know that after speaking with my neighbor it happened to almost all of us that we all discovered that there was the home owners association that we want to live and there were all these rules and after living in the house for a little over a year we got this bill and people started getting fined for things and no one knew what was going on and when we contact the home owners association they basically told us that we should have been told it is closing but this was part of the deal. You sign like 600 pages when you close on a house and went back and it was buried in there but it was not a page that we had ever signed or anything since so many of our neighbors had the same experience. It was definitely something that they did not disclose but aside from that everything else was fine.

After moving into our new house in January 2010, we stated having several issues. The first weekend we were in the house we tripped the circuit breaker to the great room twice. It turns out half of the first floor and lights on the second were on the same. After a shouting match with the service technician for the electrician, and three visits, they agreed to split the circuit. Based on my review of the eletrical code, the original installation was not compliant. The concrete apron leading to the driveway has spalled badly. Dominion was shown the damage at the six month house visit. They stated that they do not cover concrete spalling and it is my problem. My research on the subject lists many factors as contributing to spalling. The contributing factors include improper concrete selection. Air entrained concrete with a 4000 psi compressive strenght should be used in cold climated. Concrete should not be overworked or worked too soon after the pour, this contributes to a weak surface layer. The cure rate of the concrete should be controlled. During the first year de-icing agents should be avoided. One of the listed prevention techniques is to seal the concrete. We moved in January and had no opportunity to seal the concrete before the snow fall in February. We also could not prevent road salt from getting on the concrete because it is so close to the road. So as homeowners there was nothing we could have done to prevent the damage. Dominion during the sales process was very proud of their record as a Green builder. This is true in their selection of HVAC equipment and insulation. It is definitely not true in their landscaping practice. During the first summer, we noticed the sod dying in several places. Upon investigating found a silt fence and 1-2 cubic yards of aggregate buried under the sod. My advice to a someone considering a Dominion home is walk away.

I had hoped that the home I built was a fluke. It had multiple concerns during the build and some lingering issues a year later. One I found years later was when searching for the source of a cold pocket in the basement, I pulled down a piece of insulation to find that I could see into my garage. They had forgotten to put a 2x4 in place and a cement block was broken. A cat could have climbed into our basement. We had a couple of mice before that, but not after I installed a board there. Then the home value fell like a rock even though I had added a deck and fence and such. We moved to a larger home hoping to start fresh and found different problems. The original owners did not perform the 'shakedown' I had hoped would happen to any house 3 years old. We constantly hear 'that was a poor install, but I can fix it' from contractors. We contacted Dominion for several issues to be told that most warranties did not transfer. They hurry the building and cut too many corners. Buyer beware. Basically, we bought a large home with larger problems. I lost value on the first when selling, and this one has cost us plenty to repair and maintain.

He was to show up at 8:00am but due to a mix-up he showed up at 11:00am. He said he was going to cut out a square, but decided to use a white glue. He left not seeing the final results of the dried glue. When I saw the final results of the dried glue, it was unacceptable! I could not live with that. I emailed Dominion Customer Care and they called saying its the best they can do. The work was worst than if nothing was done at all! Dominion said well it was a courtesy and since I caused it no more was to be done. As far as who or how it was caused...I went on the web and found that a cause could arise from an uneven floor tha's not apparent until the floor have seem some traffic. It could have been a small stone underneath. But even so the good courtesy work is good advertisement for new business.

We had an AWESOME experience with this builder! First of all, the salesperson estimated a 6 1/2 month wait for the house and we closed EXACTLY 6 1/2 months after we went into contract. The superintendent on the job followed up on EVERY question or concern we had without fail. We had a few minor problems when we moved in which were quickly, cheerfully remedied. We also had one major issue with the hardwood floors and Dominion made sure the whole floor was replace rather than repaired (a great weight off my mind!). We feel we have a beautiful home in a wonderful neighborhood and will happily build with Dominion again...but not for a while :)

We never intended to buy a new home but we always loved to go looking at the model homes around town. Then one day I met Meg. She worked in the Dominion model in Hilliard and we became friends. I was honest with her that we didn't plan to build a house any time soon, and that we were trying to move out of town, but when we did that we wanted to have some ideas about what sort of house we would like to build. Meg sent me to another Dominion neighborhood to see a home that she thought I would like based on my conversations with her. I fell in love with the house, so we did a mock up of what it would cost to buy that house in different locations in Columbus. It was just a dream at this point, but then a "sale" happened and the house that was out of our price range suddenly became more of a reality, and within two weeks we were picking out cabinets and surfaces. This is a huge deal - buying a home! HUGE! But Meg made the process really easy. Deciding on upgrades, she was very helpful and not pushy. She stuck with us the entire time helping us with anything we needed. Going to bat for us with moving the plot plan, helping get us in the house sooner than planned so we didn't have to do a temporary rental once we sold our existing house. She got us all the discounts that we qualified for, even changing our contract two times because we figured out we qualified for other discounts. I would buy another home from Meg in a heartbeat. We have been in our home almost 2 years now and we love it! Dominion did a great job! And so did Meg!

THEY WERE A MONTH AND A HALF AHEAD OF SCHEDULE IN BUILDING OUR HOME! THERE WERE ONLY THREE OR FOUR PROBLEMS THAT CAME UP DURING THE PROCESS AND THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER BROUGHT THOSE RIGHT TO OUR ATTENTION. IT WAS AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE OVERALL AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.
