Tom Carney is fabulous!  From our first meeting through job completion the job went exactly as Tom described.  The estimate was bang on - the work was completed as described in both time and workmanship.  The mess was kept to a minimum - even less than Tom described.  We could not be happier and would not hesitate to recommend Carney Building Systems for any remodeling job.  In fact, we hired Carney to remodel our master bathroom - we did not seek additional estimates.

Carney was easy to work with from start to finish. They were quick with the estimate, the work was completed in the time promised and the new roof looks great.
A couple of months later we had one follow-up item, and they responded immediately. We would highly recommend them.

My wife and I decided to add a large addition to the back of our home in Powell to give us much-needed additional space. It is a 520 sq. ft. great room with vaulted ceilings and high-quality trim work, plus a full 520 sq. ft. basement with 9 foot ceilings. I started the project with another highly-rated general contractor, but after getting through the design phase, he had some personal issues come up that prevented him from continuing with the job. He then referred us to Tom Carney. All hyperbole aside, Tom is simply the best. The experience with him from start to finish was the complete opposite of all the contractor horror stories you hear about. He's a total pro, and all the subcontractors he brought to the table were excellent, as well. We signed the contract with him on 9/12/12, and had our occupancy permit on 12/12/12, exactly the 90 days the contract called for. We would have been done in 70 days or so, but that torrential October rain came as the foundation was going in, which held everything up a bit. Tom is so well organized, and really knows how to keep large projects like ours moving along on schedule. For whatever reason, several of our neighbors were also doing various remodeling projects this past fall, and they ALL said to me at one point or another that they picked their contractors based solely on the cheapest bid, and were all unhappy about how long their relatively simple projects were taking to finish compared to ours. At least 1-2 of them have approached Tom with projects after seeing how great our addition looks. My wife and I have never done anything like this project before, and like most guys, I briefly flirted with the idea of subcontracting it out myself. But after seeing Tom in action and all his job involves, if you can find a way to afford the extra cost of a general contractor, and you want the job done right the first time, then hire Tom.

Excellent experience overall. Our house suffered damage to the roof, aluminum siding and front door in the 6/29/12 storm. Carney Building Systems folks were out the morning after the storm and tarped the roof with a gray tarp(blends better than blue ones!). They then assisted in working with our insurance adjuster/carrier and promptly had the roof replaced in one day. Their crew was prompt, courteous and did a great job cleaning up after the roof work was done. We are so pleased with the roof work we will be having them fix the dented door and siding next.

Had a substantial water leak in the 2nd floor laundry and a/c closets that damaged my dining room ceiling and laminate floor on the 1st floor around memorial day. I have never had an issue of this magnitude with a home before. I located another contractor on angies list that took a couple of weeks to come back with a very through - and very high estimate that my insurance company could not meet. I found Tom through a combination of angies list and coincidental connection through linked in. He coordinated the entire project for me using stellar craftsmen - all were small business owners he had known and worked with for many many years.

I had an appointment for the initial inspection within hours and a written estimate that same evening. His estimate was a bit higher than my insurance adjuster had written due to a small discrepancy in square footage. He uses the same estimating system that the adjuster does, so they spoke and resolved it quickly the next morning. He was very patient about waiting for the couple of weeks it took for my insurance company check to clear with my co-signing mortgage company. (He even volunteered to help in the conversation with them if they had questions or issues with the estimate.)

He referred me to a great plumber (a mann plumbing ltd - reviewed separately) to be sure that there were no other issues that should be corrected before repairs began.

He scheduled the flooring appointment as soon as I was ready to move ahead (jp flooring). They brought samples to me and proivided great advice on alternative floorings (laminate, tile, linoleum) within my budget. I decided to rip out some old carpet in an adjacent room at the same time due to the reasonable cost. The appointment was scheduled quickly and the installers were great. They worked with me to minimize the time I would need to take off from work. (replaced 900+sq ft wood laminate and carpet with new wood laminate including all of the floor moldings in 8 hours.)

Celing work was completed by a great father son team with great care and attention to detail. They replaced the damaged drywall in the ceiling; replastered to match a difficult texture and then painted the entire dining room ceiling. (total of about 7 hours of work over two days. They were also great about scheduling the work to minimize time I needed to take off from work.

Tom came out and did a final inspection to make sure that everything was completed at the quality level that was expected.

I can't recommend Tom and Carney Building more highly. Having an honest experienced, professional to help me through this project provided great peace of mind during a challenging time. I will definitely use them the next time I do work on the house.

We had a bad expirence with a roofer that did a very poor job. Ever time the wind blew shingles fell off. And since it was shoddy workmanship our insurance would not pay for repairs. Our Insurance company recommended Carney Building System.Tom came out and gave us an estimate. We approved and scheduled the work.
Everthing was done on time, did not exceed the estimate. Professional, courteous, tidy.
