BOB BENJAMIN CONTRACTING INC

Bob came out and we discussed plans and agreed upon the price.  He showed up 3 days later than expected without any expanation.  Completed demo of existning railing and face boards pretty quickly.  However, what originally was to be a 3 week job turned into 3 months.  He continued to reschedule days he would be working and I had to call many times to get him to get his crew to the house.  Bench that was installed was completely different that what had been planned.  When I asked for him to correct I was charged for the additonal materiasl.  I later found that he took the original bench for himself.  Paint was done very poorly and I had have to pay extra for his crew to come out and redo the work.  Once job was finally completed, the pile of debris was left in the driveway for a month.  I called every 3-4 days and each time Bob assured me that he'd be out the following day.  I finally had to threaten legal action and he was out the following day.  Within 2 months of completion, nails began to rust, boards were coming loose, and splits were forming in the roofing.  I noticed that many of the face boards had not been secured properly.  I called Bob and left 3 messages regarding the issues.  They were never returned but he did show up unexpected one day and confirmed with my wife that he would correct the issues.  We've not heard from or seen him since despite numerous calls and emails to him.  I finally had to hire another contrator to come and correct work that was completed just 10 months perviously.  It cost me an additoinal $800 to make the repairs.  I would strongly warn anyone from using Bob Benjamin Contracting.  Very unprofessional and poor quality of work.  Even when he acknowledged that repairs were needed he never resolved the problem.

Their level of responsiveness was bad. It was supposed to be a three-week job; it took more than three months. That was after I made constant calls to him without him responding. We have had multiple issues, so I have had to go in and repair a lot of his work. Even when things were done, they really weren't. I tried to proactively go out and speak to a few folks. A real estate agent in our neighborhood passed his name along. We made sure she was aware of his work. I will absolutely never use him again.

THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AS PROMISED AND WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.

THE JOB TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS TO COMPLETE WHEN WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 3-4 WEEKS. FOR THE MOST PART THE PORCH IS NICE, BUT WE HAD A TERRIBLE TIME GETTING IT COMPLETED WITH NO WORK BEING DONE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. WE TRIED CALLING TO FIND OUT WHY AND EITHER WERE TOLD HE WOULD GET IT DONE OR GET NO RESPONSE AT ALL. WE HAVE HAD A LEAK THAT HAS BEEN WORKED ON THREE TIMES AND IS STILL AN ISSUE THAT SUPPOSEDLY WILL BE ADDRESSED IN THE SPRING. GETTING A RESPONSE FROM THE OWNER IS LIKE PULLING TEETH. IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE IMPOSING ON HIM TO GET THE WORK DONE TIMELY AND CORRECTLY. WE CALL AND CALL AND WHEN WE FINALLY GET IN TOUCH, HE SAYS HE WILL DO IT AND USUALLY DOES NOT FOLLOW THROUGH. I HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR INSPECTION FEES THAT WERE NOT PAID BY HIM AS PART OF HIS CONTRACT. I TRIED FOR OVER A YEAR TO GET HIM TO PAY THESE, EACH TIME HE SAID HE WOULD BUT NEVER DID. OBVIOUSLY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM.

BOB WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH! VERY UPFRONT ON ALL PRICING. VERY IMPRESSIVE WORK. HE ALSO DESIGNS AND INSTALLS SCREENED PORCHES AND FLORIDA ROOMS.
