I can no longer recommend this Company. In late April I emailed the company to schedule mulching and edging to be completed, (I had this company do extensive yard redesign with plantings, edging, mulching and topsoil for a couple of years with no problem and excellent results) For some reason that did not happen this year. On Monday April 24 the owner arrived at our home and did a review of the area and advised he would get an estimate to me in the next couple of days. No estimate arrived. I allowed a week for a response and got none. I know spring is busy so I waited a week and again emailed the owner. He advised he would get an estimate to me in the next two days. Never happened. He said June is a good month for doing this type of work because this is when he usually does his own home. I gave him the entire month of June to get back to us. No response. This company failed to follow up therefore the negative response. I am a Veteran and a Senior and this is how the company treated me. Good and timely service is the background of any successful business.

They did good work when they were here for the lawn, but it was hard to get them to show up for the work. They also installed mulch, and they buried many of my plants before they came up in the spring.

This was my second time doing business with the Pony team and once again they did a great job laying mulch for me. It was very reasonably priced and they showed up on time and cleaned up afterwards. They want above and beyond by removing a large chunk of concrete left by my builder. I plan to continue to use them in the future.

.Work went well. Made a mess of mud, but cleaned it all up when they finished. The flowers they planted were overdone and overcame a couple of my roxanne geraniums.
Description of Work: Removed 8 inches of stoney soil in flower beds and replaced it with topsoil. Replaced the existing plants and added a couple of new plants. Made a new flower bed in the back yard. Later they added some annual flowers to fill the bed.

We met with John at the end of April and walked over the yard with him. We noted in general which plants we liked and which ones not, and where there was planting room. We also discussed creation of a new free-form bed, and John noted the need for a gravel bed beyond the gutter runoff drainpipe. A few weeks later his team arrived to do the work and brought 17 plants of 4 types noted in the contract to plant. Unfortunately, John was not there, and we had no plot map - so no one knew where some of these plants were supposed to go from our previous overall discussion. Ultimately we decided with the workers where we the plants could go, the beds were created, and the gravel bed placed. With the first hard rain, the drainpipe water spread beyond the gravel, creating runoff channels and taking mulch from the bed with it into the yard. We contacted John about this, he said they would fix it - it is 3 months later without the "fix". If John had given us or his workers a plot/plant map after the first walk around, the uncertainty of where plants were to go would have been avoided. John and his crew were friendly and courteous, but there was major miscomunication.

John was very patient with us and took us through multiple design choices to find the right design for our budget and desires. We only had one issue when the quoted price needed updated for a material choice. This resulted in us choosing to not have John install plant material since we were at the max of what we wanted to spend. On construction day, his crew arrived and got right to work. They were done in only 2 days and my yard looks great!
Description of Work: John and his crew repaired my lawn after removing an unground swimming pool. Work included building several retaining walls, significant grading, and installation of stone stairs.

Pony Lawncare & Landscaping did a great job on my small landscaping job. Their quick response to my inquiry with an appointment was my first good impression. Their estimator was right on time for the appointment. He gave me just what I wanted, answering a few of my questions. The estimate arrived a couple of days later and was quite reasonable. Correspondence via Email made the transaction go quickly and conveniently. I asked when the work would be done, and the reply was that the work would be done Saturday. A surprise came when I found 4 men halfway through to job on Thursday. They did a good job, asking me if I was pleased. We had not specified that we wanted the bed made smaller, but the accommodated, filling the void space with sod. All together, a good job was done. I was pleased with the effort to clean up the mud after the work was done.
Description of Work: In flower bed in front of my house, dig out rocky soil to a depth of 6" and replace with 9" of topsoil. All existing plants were saved and replaced. Bed was made 12" narrower and the difference made up with sod. Two small beds were similarly worked as well.

We have been pleased with all the work done by Pony. We purchased a house 4 years ago and the front beds were landscaped with river rock. We had Pony remove the rock and replace with mulch. We were pleased with the work. The back yard was not landscaped and 2 years ago we had Pony create large beds in the backyard. They pulled up turf, amended the soil and mulched the beds. For the new beds we purchased plants from Oakland and had Pony plant everything but the tree's. Pony does the front and back bed refresh as required by the home association every year. I have Pony mow several times a year when I cant manage it. We are pleased with their work and professionalism and will continue using them in the future.
Description of Work: We have used Pony for several landscaping projects including creating large beds and installing plants. have also used them for spot mowing. The dollar amount above was for creating large plant beds in our yard.

The Pony team removed the old walkway, raised the ground level, installed a paver walkway, added dirt and mulch to the sides for a dramatically improved effect which drains rainwater nicely. Team work very efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. Excellent work.
Description of Work: Pony Landscaping replaced a walkway into our house. Previously, this walkway would collect about 2 inches of standing water on rainy days.

My wife and I met with John several times to finalize the details. John was very patient with us and delivered on everything he promised. Start date and time of completion were spot on. The computerized rendition of the design was appealing to my wife who needs to visualize design concepts. John designed an over the top backyard oasis that we are able to complete in phases. I anticipate the work will take a number of years to complete. After the work was completed, I really appreciated PONY landscaping laying sod rather than grass seed. I would definitely recommend John and Pony Landscaping to friends and family.

Every thing went well. John was very communicative throughout the estimation and scheduling process. When I chose to move ahead with the work, he gave me a date and they showed up on that date as scheduled. His price was much more reasonable than some of his competitors. Overall, they did a great job. My only (minor) criticism is that a couple of my smaller flowers were buried in the mulch avalanche.

We called Pony after a rather disappointing experience with another highly rated company on AL who breached the contract they signed with us. John, who is the owner, came out and we discussed a number of ideas - admittedly on our part we are still reeling from the previous job so we weren't entirely sure what we wanted to do other than "fix it". John came out twice, was very patient, and came up with a very nice set of CAD drawings for a spectacular retaining wall and plantings. What I've learned is that many landscapers are essentially contractors who plant stuff. A few, like John, actually have an eye for design. Unfortunately we had already sunk so much money into the previous landscaping that we don't have the funds to go ahead with this plan at this time, even though it is ultimately what we want to do, so it is highly likely we will use Pony in the near future.

Just amazing. Total first class. I hate to even give them this review because I don't want them to get overbooked! A very well run/managed company.
Description of Work: Winter "clean up." All beds, lawn, shrubs.
It went exceptionally well. John's team took up the sod where the bobcat would go on the lawn so that it wasn't destroyed. They completed the job 1 day early (we anticipated 4 days of construction, but completed it in only 3 days). The space is perfect for us and the firepit is wonderful. I've gotten lots of compliments from friends and neighbors on the patio. We expect to have many years of enjoyment on this patio.
Description of Work: Pony Lawncare and Landscaping removed our old 10x24 patio that was done using sandstone pavers. We'd had that patio for over 10 years. John Panovsky, the owner of Pony Lawncare and Landscape, met with us to design the new patio. In our new patio, we added to the overall dimensions by creating a hemispherical addition with a firepit added on to the 24 dimension. We chose to use manmade concrete pavers for the patio and John used a different colored border around the outside of the patio. We also had a low wall built around the hemispherical portion of the patio to provide a transition from the yard to the patio. The firepit is centered in the hemisphere section and is perfectly placed between the outer wall. The goal was to blend this work into the retaining wall that John designed and built for us last year.
