Almost immediately, things turned bad... Without talking to us, he bought a different accent stone than we talked about. He also decided that instead of laying the stones down in the agreed upon pattern he would just lay them down in rows. Just one other slight problem, the grading on the patio was wrong - he actually sloped it to run back towards our house. After talking to him he agreed to redo the work and lay the stones in the pattern we agreed to but that the accent color we wanted 'was just an example' so he wouldn't change it. He also said he would fix the sloping problem. He did change the pattern, but even after he was done the patio never drained right. Initially, I thought that with the way that the rest of the yard is sloped it might end up all working out, but as fall turned into winter the problems really started to show. Water didn't drain out of the patio as it should have and the winter freeze/thaw cycle ended up causing the retaining wall to start to move. That caused the pavers to move and the whole porch started degrading structurally.
So I called David out and he said he would fix everything. After he ripped out all the pavers he realized just how much work it was going to be to fix the patio correctly and he comes up with some lame excuse that my kids must have left the hose on and 'flooded' the patio causing the damage. He claims he called the water company and they told him there were big spikes in usage at my property. When we called the water company, they said that they wouldn't give that information out and that they had no record of anyone making such an inquiry - better still, they said that the water usage at my home has been below average and there was nothing unusual in terms of our water usage. He says we need to call our insurance company and get them to pay for his incompetence by saying that the damage was caused by 'accidental flooding'. When I called him out on his lie about talking to the water company and told him he needed to fix the work he got irate, insulted my wife and hung up the phone on me. You can see from the pictures the complete mess and hazard zone he left my back yard in then to add insult to injury he actually has the audacity to send me a bill for ~$650 for the 'repair' work he and his crew did ripping up the patio and abandoning it.
So now I'm waiting on a reputable company to free up to fix the patio correctly and we're missing out on a summer of enjoying our backyard. I've also got the added stress in my life as I'm preparing to take this idiot to court for failing to honor his warranty and basically destroying my back yard. Never - NEVER - ever, ever ever let David Loveless even step foot in your backyard. This guy does not know what he is doing and he will even stoop so low as to blame innocent children for his blatant ineptitude.
