DOUG SCHNEES EXCAVATING

This was the only company I could get out on such short notice. And they were one of the few willing to rule out cheaper issues first. Many other companies wanted to completely replace the system at $$$$$+ cost or perform "services" that would've damaged the system and made a mess of the property. It turns out the problem was a clog where a pipe had broken and allowed roots in. The broken line was replaced promptly and the final invoice was adjusted lower than the initial quote to reflect the actual work required. I'm just glad I found somebody honest in this business.

I started calling drainage and irrigation providers last Spring (2014) to address my problem, but only got a call back from Schnees. Janet told me they were booked solid thru the end of the season, and suggested I call back near the end of the following Winter. I did so, and she remembered talking with me. She had Doug out to my house the same day. He spent nearly 90 minutes with me, investigating the causes of the issue and offering options on how to mitigate it. He actually talked me out of spending nearly 10 times the amount on a completely new installation, and helped me understand how his significantly less costly and less intrusive solution would work. He quoted me a ballpark of $2,000 to do the job, and promised to work me into his calendar within days, given that I was a carryover from the past year. He came back later that evening with a temporary fix to help until he could come back the following week. He was delayed two days due to the heavy rains, but still made it out within a week. He had to use heavy equipment, but was as careful as possible to minimize the damage to my property. He dug an additional drainage channel, back-filled it with gravel, covered it over, then repaired the damage from the machine treads as he backed the machine out of the yard. While we will still have to do some finishing work and re-seed the area, Doug took a great deal of time, and used his obvious skills with his machine, to leave the area in much better shape than we expected. His solution is already working, although it won't be fully tested until we get some rain this coming week. Doug has been doing this type of work for 40+ years, and obviously knows his business. He took plenty of time to explain things to me, making sure I was comfortable with everything before proceeding. He is as honest as the day is long, and treated my home like it was his own. In the end, his fee was $800 less than his estimate, although he could easily have charged me the full amount and I would not have known any different. He is very "old school", which is a rare commodity these days, and is a trait I value. I would highly recommend Schnees for any excavation and irrigation work you need done!

Doug was prompt, skilled at his job and delivered the end result I was looking for. His final price met his estimate.

Doug had put in the basement and septic system when we had the house built 21 years ago. His work has held up well over the years, but nothing lasts forever so when we needed the distribution box replaced we knew who to call. It was scheduled quickly and finished in less than a day. Work site was cleaned up and the installation looks great.

He does a good job. I contacted him and he came the next day to check out my problem. He has been here for a couple of times. I rate him high overall. I am happy with whatever he has done so far.
