Excellent. We had several quotes before making a commitment. Our biggest priorities were quality work that we could trust was done right (no cutting corners) and timely completion of the project (no disappearing contractor horror stories), and that is what we got with Buckeye Basements. They presented us with a timeline at the beginning and it was accurate throughout the project, even ending a few days early. This helped us know exactly what to expect, when payments were due, and what days we needed to have decisions made such as paint colors. The crews were professional and kept a clean worksite. We would highly recommend them to family and friends!

My wife and I had a couple of companies out to give us estimates for finishing off our basement. After receiving a couple of quotes, I called Buckeye Basements to discuss having them come out and provide us a quote too. From the first call, there was just something different about Buckeye. Leah, during our initial phone call took the time to go through their process, discuss our wants and needs in our basement project, as well as give us a rough idea of what the cost would be. After the first two companies came out, gave way-out-of-the-park quotes, I didn't want to waste our time, or anyone else's if what we wanted couldn't be done in our budget. Despite all of that Leah was patient and believed we could get what we wanted within our budget by going with Buckeye. A week or so later, Jon came out to measure and provide us with a detailed quote. Before he left, he provided a written quote which was within $500 of what Leah roughly put together over the phone. Needless to say we were sold. The best part is, now that everything is finished, the quoted price was the price. We of course added various things as we went along (which were additional to the quoted price), but these were all our decisions, not due to a misquote or anything on Buckeye's part. As for the construction, everything was top notch. Jon did the entirety of the framing and the other crews that did the drywall, tile, HVAC, plumbing, etc. were friendly, prompt, and kept the work area clean. Further, during this process we had a few unforeseen issues pop up that required us to stop construction. Water in the basement (for the first time) required us to stop construction for a week while we got that cleaned up and fixed. Also, just a few weeks later, another issue popped up that required us to stop construction for another week. Each time, we communicated with Jon and Leah our issues and they did the best they could to rearrange work crews to keep us on schedule. Ultimately, we finished just a few weeks past schedule, but I must emphasize that NONE of that was Buckeye's fault. Just bad timing for our project and bad luck with a couple of unpreventable things on our side. Happily though, Jon and Leah were great through the whole process. Overall, I am happy that we chose Buckeye Basements to finish our basement. We have great new living area in our home and are enjoying it every day. Thanks for such a great experience!

After researching different basements remodeling companies we are glad we went with Buckeye Basements. From the initial appointment, James walked us through the steps and was very polite and accurate with the all the information he gave us. He did a rough sketch what it would look like and answered all of our questions that we had. Mike completed the framing part of the basement and he was an awesome guy. My 3 year old daughter really took to him and kept asking when she got up if Mike was coming over this morning. He spent time talking with my wife and children and was very friendly. This is a huge to have this kind of bond with people coming into your house every day. After this the next steps of the process went smoothly from HVAC, plumbing, drywall and painting. Leah and Jon were awesome with communication during the whole process. Leah would email us on a regular basis to let us know who was going to be coming over the next day and what the next steps were. Leah would also get with us to schedule the city inspection to make sure it was a good time for us as well. Jon would stop in and check on the progress which I found to be awesome from an owner. Most larger companies wouldn?t do this as you would never see the owner, not the case with Buckeye Basements. Overall, we are very pleased with the project done by Buckeye Basements and have told our friends, family, and coworkers about them. We truly love the job they did with our basement and their communication was GREAT. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that is doing a basement remodeling project.

Jon allowed me to do some of the work myself to keep the project under budget.  The project started with them installing dri-core subfloor that I purchased from Lowes.  Jon did a tremendous amount of extra work leveling our basement floor.  They framed with metal studs and insulated before installing drywall.  They moved our water lines, A/C line, and ductwork so the basement has a nice finished look without a bunch of soffits.  The ceiling has a knockdown texture to match the rest of the house. They did all the electrical work including a manual transfer switch for our generator.  They also installed kitchen cabinets that I purchased from Lowes.  They painted the trim and doors.  I installed the laminate floor, soundproof insulation in the ceiling, surround sound speakers, and I painted the walls,
I got quotes from 4 companies before choosing Buckeye Basements.  They weren't the cheapest quote or the most expensive, but they were the best value.  The quality of work and professionalism far exceeded my expectations.  Leah sent weekly emails to let us know what was going to happen each week.  Jon was always very responsive wether it was a phone call, text, or email.  We were very pleased with our basement and thankful for the work they did.

James our design/salesman was very responsive and made sure we were pleased with design process. We made revisions to plan and he had good suggestions/options to consider.
Jon and Leah were very helpful, responsive and communicated effectively throughout process. Jon was responsive to request to re-design bathroom and make other suggestions to make the basement look better. All workers did quality job. All of our suggestions and requests for changes were responded to. Most important part is communication and Leah is excellent at being timely and clarifying/responding to questions regarding design and cost, Jon also easy to communicate with and monitoring completion of all stages of completion of construction process.

We were so happy with their workmanship. Jon Smith came out and spent a long time with us creating what we thought was the perfect set up. He had great ideas as you can see by the bar he designed. He was always patient with us. We made a few changes along the way and he was fine with that. He is a very hands on owner and we saw him on a regular basis. Not only does he check on his guys, he works along with them. All of the workers that he had in our home seemed to be trustworthy and they all had respect for Jon. That says a lot about a company. We have recommended them to others who also were very happy with their work.

We interviewed several companies and what struck me about this company was their professionalism, and the work that the showed me that they did. I also liked the proposal and how things worked.

The quality of all of the work done on our basement finishing was truly excellent. I was very impressed by the attention to detail and the speed of the overall project. John and Leah were very responsive to and communicated any changes or issues (which there were few) quickly. When there were changes requested by us, they were very accomodating with both the turnaround and any estimates for additional costs. Part of the direction behind our project was to make the basement look as much like the upper levels of the house. Buckeye Basements were able to deliver on that direction amazingly. From matching paint and molding right to the finish on the ceilings. We couldn't be happier with the overall turnout of the project.

Jon came out and evaluated the job and provided an estimate on the spot. He was thorough and worked with us on changes, and upgrades after the initial estimate. He and his wife were responsive to questions and provided email updates on progress and next steps - there were very few surprises! The work was well done and timely. Jon did the framing himself and then subcontracted all the work for HVAC, drywall, electric and painting, etc. He does not contract the carpet so we had to do that ourselves - however he does provide a contact and contractor discount with Prosource. We are very pleased with the new playroom!

Responsiveness: too much lag time between contractor jobs. Not sure if due to other jobs or poor planning.
Response from Buckeye Basements Inc
"WE ENJOYED WORKING WITH THIS CUSTOMER, AND ARE HAPPY TO HEAR THAT HE WOULD REHIRE US, BUT WE HARDLY FEEL THAT HE IS BEING FAIR. HE AGREED IN WRITING TO AN 8-WEEK COMPLETION DATE. HE WAS GIVEN A REASONABLE QUOTE, BASED ON AN 8-WEEK TIMING PLAN, & THEN WANTED THE JOB DONE EARLY. WE DID EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO ACCOMMODATE HIM (EVEN AFTER HE PLACED A SPECIAL ORDER FOR GLASS & WE RAN INTO AN UNEXPECTED DELAY FROM THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT). IT MUST BE NOTED, THAT WE DID IN FACT FINISH HIS PROJECT 2 WEEKS EARLY. THAT CERTAINLY DESERVES MORE THAN A "C" FOR RESPONSIVENESS. BOTH THE OWNER AND MYSELF (THE ASSISTANT) SPOKE WITH OUR CUSTOMER SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK UPDATING HIM OF THE SCHEDULE. WE EVEN EXPLAINED TO HIM UP FRONT THAT AT TIMES THERE MIGHT BE A DAY OR TWO DELAY BETWEEN PHASES & WHILE WAITING ON INSPECTIONS. BUT, SOME PEOPLE WANT THEIR JOBS DONE IN A WEEK. AS THE SAYING GOES, "ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY," AND TO COMPLETE THIS VERY CUSTOM PROJECT ANY SOONER, WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO SACRIFICE QUALITY. OUR COMPANY & CREWS ARE PERFECTIONISTS, & WE WOULD RATHER FINISH A PROJECT OF THIS SIZE IN 8 WEEKS (OR 6 AS IT TURNED OUT), RATHER THAN FINISH IT IN 1/2 THE TIME WITH 1/2 THE QUALITY. IN FACT, WE PERSONALLY FEEL THAT MAINTAINING AN EXCELLENT STANDING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU & WINNING TWO NARI "CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR" AWARDS SPEAKS VOLUMES AS TO OUR QUALITY, FAIRNESS, & ETHICS, WHICH MOST CUSTOMERS WOULD AGREE ARE ESSENTIAL QUALITIES TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A CONTRACTOR."
