We had been taking our w-2's there the last few years and have gotten A+ service at a great price. This year was completely different. The lady we usually seen was no longer there which was upsetting enough because she was great, but they didn't even have the decency to inform us they doubled their prices from previous years before preparing the taxes.
In previous years the lady would sit down and go over everything with us personally, this year they called and informed him the taxes were done and the receptionist gave him the papers, showed him what he was getting back and then presented him with a bill for double what he has paid in the last 4 years.
The reason for the new price was because "Due to new regulations set forth by the Internal Revenue Service, our firm is forced to undergo additional time and expense in preparing your tax returns. Therefore, our firm has adopted a new pricing structure in the preparation of your tax returns to help offset the additional cost due to IRS regulations. We want to thank-you for your continued business!"
If they would have just informed us before hand it wouldn't have been such a big deal. The bill was actually $210.00 but they deducted $20.00 off for "courtesy discount".
