I was extremely impressed by Rick and Adam the consultants when they came to our house on the 10th of the month to present there product to my wife and I. They had sample of there windows and there presentation was very informative. This was the third and final estimate that with the had scheduled. We thought we were going with the first estimate that had come to the house but Window World had a get $70 off each triple pane window instead of the double pane. It included foam filled windows and the first estimate didn't. The cost was only $200 more for the triple pane window from Window World but we got triple pane instead of double.
The order went in on 10th and the windows came in on the 19th and they put the windows in on 23rd, The installation by Tim and Jim was amazing!! They were very organized and did an excellent job in installing our ten double hung windows. My wife and I are extremely overjoyed with our new windows Thanks Window World !!!
We really like the windows in terms of decreasing the outside noise and the ease of cleaning the tilt-in windows.
It should be mentioned that anyone purchasing replacement windows should be aware that they will decrease the actual size of your window. Eric had explained the installation process and we thought we understood what the difference would look like. However, we have gotten used to the difference now and it isn't a problem.
The installers showed up on time as scheduled. After the first window was installed, I told the installer that the caulking , particularly around the corners of the inside of the window looked a messy and he told me that he didn't do corners very good. I found this a little strange since this was what he did for a living. They had arrived about 9 A.M. and were finished around 2 P.M. I said something about them going to their next job and they said that we were the only ones scheduled for that day because they never know how long the removal process of the original window will take....ours appeared to be easy.
Due to a death in the family the next day, we really didn't take the time to look at each window closely until about a week later. Since we were going to need to stain some of the wood on the frame of the old windows that was now exposed, we looked at each window closely to see how long it was going to take, we noticed the appearance of the caulk on most of the windows had some jagged and messy areas. Although all but one window would be covered with mini-blinds and valances, we still wanted the window to look neat. Additionally the tension on about five of the windows needed to be adjusted. When you put the bottom portion of the window down, it also pulled the top part of the window down. This resulted in having to hold the top part up with one hand as you pulled the bottom half down with the other. Eric was contacted via email and he asked that we email him pictures of the caulking . A time was arranged and the same installers returned and the tension was adjusted on the windows.
while one of the installers used an Xacto knife on some of the caulking. We might now try to redo some of it ourselves.
Since the appearance of the caulking was not what we expected, we would suggest that anyone purchasing replacement windows ask to see actual close-up pictures of what the final installed window will look like and you can judge for yourself if you will be satisfied.
Again, overall, we like the windows and how it has made our home quieter and has brightened up the outside appearance of our home. Since I use Angie's list as a way to get tips for different services we need done, I just wanted to share a tip to consider when selecting replacement windows.
