They completed the project, however, within 8 months of their finishing a section began cracking and softened. They tried to blame other things on this area rather than stand behind their work and repair it. I am going to have to contract another company to come in and repair that section. I was extremely disappointed in their lack of responsibility in their work quality. As you can see it wasn't a cheap project and their sales representative stated that the only way we wouldn't have further problems was to do it their way. See where that got me?

I was very pleased with my experience with Vandalia Blacktop & Sealcoating! Each one of the people working on the job were very professional, respectful and kind. Every time I walked by any of them, they took the time to acknowledge me. You should be proud of each one of them. (drivers included) The work was done quickly and thoroughly. I am very pleased with the end product. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a job well done!

They're pretty good. They were okay but when I got an estimate from them on expanding the driveway, their estimate was a bit high. Their prices were a little higher than some but they're good. When I wanted it expanded to the side of the house which was another twice as much plus a little bit of expansion of the concrete between the sidewalk and the street, they want $3500. I asked why it was so much and they broke it down. It was like $1700 for the initial blacktop. They wanted $1700 for the additional blacktop and another $1700 because of the little spritz of concrete. I asked why it was so much. They said that it was because they have the minimum price for the concrete. It's a whole concrete mixer truck.

Fortunately another provider from Angie's List gave us prompt response and performed quality work

After repeated attempts at getting them scheduled, many calls not returned and e-mails not answered.  Finally, they told me they had one job before me and I would be scheduled the first part of May 2012.  After 6 months of trying to contact them after they told me that, I cancelled the contract.  Will never recommend this company for anything.  I see that I am not the only one who had this problem with this company.  I'm not sure why they have such a good rating on here.  I'm not sure what kind of a review I would have given them since they never followed up to fulfill their contract.  If they don't want residential work, then they shouldn't even advertise that they do it.

Vandalia Blacktop needs to re-look at serving residential customers.  Lack of communication and high bid led me to go with another company.  In July, I called and asked for a quote.  Five days later, there still was no effort on a quote.  So, I called to set a date for a quote, and they came out immediately.  A week later I got the quote in the mail.  They wanted $4,060 to remove and replace 1,330 sq ft of driveway.  I attempted to make a counter offer of $3,700.  Suddenly, I felt like I was buying a new car.  Nobody could make a decision without talking to the owner, and the owner would not get on the phone with me.  This was over the course of several days.  The final answer:  no, the price is $4,060.   Angie?s list rated Vandalia as the best, so I gritted my teeth and signed the contract (it was now 29 Aug).  Waiting another week, I called to get some sense of when the work would be scheduled. I called three times and was always received politely, but could not connect with someone who could provide an answer.   At this point, in mid-Sep, I fired Vandalia.  However, they called me on 24 Oct asking me to schedule the work?which pushed me over the edge to write this comment.
   Contrast that with my experience with a competitor (also highly rated on Angie?s List) I went with.  The company owner met me at the house the same day I requested a bid.  His offer was significantly lower.  And, he let me know up front that he had a six week back-order, so he would be calling me in a month or so to actually schedule the work.
Every Vandalia employee I talked to was polite and professional.   Keep in mind, I did not have them actually do work, so they may well be the best asphalt installers.  But, go in with patience and expect to work at communication.

I originally contacted this company by mail early spring.  Week of  3
Sept, I contacted them to make sure I had not been forgotten.  Was told
they had an opening 11 Sept.  Then today the office called and was told
it will be Friday.  Nothing else open.  Really??  Four months and this
is the only day available?  If not Friday, we have nothing else.
Vandalia Asphalt, if you don't want the job and my money, tell me upfront so I can find someone willing to take my money.

A second team laid a new driveway and they did an excellent job. The were fast, efficient and willing to answer all my questions.
The problem with the organization - and this is not a show stopper - is with the front office.  They are not as responsive as their teams doing the actual work. 
I would definitely call on Vandalia Blacktop again if I had another job, but with the knowledge that I might have to work with the front office personnel.

I originally contacted them on June 10 and they said they would get back in touch with me to set up a date & time to meet at the site. I called them again on June 14, since they hadn't contacted me, and was told that they weren't going to be able to meet with me until the following week. I told them that was fine. It is now July 1st and I still haven't been contacted to set up a meeting. I will be getting with another company to get this done since they obviously don't need my business. They had good reviews with Angies list, which is why I picked them. I'm not sure if I will trust their reviews again/

Called for an estimate. They came out to measure the driveway and then sent us an estimate. Price was reasonable so agreed for them to do the job. We were unable to have the job done the first time they wanted to do it because of a conflict with our schedule but they called back when the weather permitted them to try again and did the job quickly and professionally.

 The crew was courteous and efficient.  It took less than 30 minutes to do the job and there was no mess of any kind for me to clean up. I plan on calling them next time I need a sealcoating on the driveway.

Vandalia Blacktop was responsive,came out, measured and advised. We also added 2 bumper blocks so there was a better barrier or stoppage point between our driveway and our neighbor.  Because of a cancellation, they were able to come early to remove the driveway and apply the gravel, etc. We did have to call them once, just to make sure we were on their docket  for the asphalt application, but this was a busy season leading into Fall, so I do not fault them on this. They were very professional and did a great job. I love the driveway. We were given a booklet on how to take care of the driveway which I found very helpful. They will be back to apply sealant. I recommend highly. Nice to see work professionally done. It has added more value to the property,with it's visual appeal and sturdiness in material .

The company was very responsive with an estimate, and although not the least expensive we choose them based on other work they had performed in the area. They worked with us in scheduling the removal of the old asphalt and replacing with new. The crew and all personnel were very neat and professional.

Overall, it was a good experience, and our driveway looks wonderful. We had a lip slightly higher than the outer garage concrete area and they came back and fixed it without a question. The work is guaranteed for a year, and I am sure they will come back if we have a problem. Additionally, the office staff were nothing but polite and professional all the way. Would highly recommend this company.

NOTHING HAS BEEN RIGHT SINCE. I CALLED IN MARCH AND IT TOOK THEM TILL END OF MAY TO DO THE WORK. THEY DIDN'T QUOTE THE SEALING - THAT WAS EXTRA - HAD TO GET ANOTHER QUOTE FROM THEM FOR THAT. ALSO IN A FEW MONTHS I HAD GRASS AND WEEDS GROWING UP THROUGH MY DRIVEWAY. THE DRIVEWAY DOES NOT DRAIN THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TOO EITHER - I HAVE POOLS OF WATER EVERY TIME IT RAINS. I'VE CALLED AND COMPLAINED MANY TIMES BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
