The gas line installation was not an easy one and the plumber wound up having to go through the plumbing area in the master bathroom to get the line to the fireplace on the other side of the wall. During the course of this, he had to replace the toilet valve and plastic tubing as it would not shut off. The replacement was done with no apparent problem. The rest of the installation went fine. We were in the house enjoying the fireplace for about a month after the work was completed.

We were out of town for an extended period beginning in mid-January and my niece was checking on the house for us. She checked in January with no problem, but when she came in in early February she found a foul odor in the house and discovered the master bath floor was awash in water. She immediately called my son who came and turned off the valve to the toilet, and they called us. We called Southtowne and they made arrangements to have a plumber out the next day and my son came to meet him. The plumber discovered that the plastic tubing was leaking and began to replace it. However, the replacement began to leak almost immediately and it became apparent that they had received a shipment from a supplier of faulty tubing. The plumber was able to get a replacement tube that did not leak installed. During the course of all this, I was in touch with the manager several times. He was extremely courteous and helpful and promised to work with us to get any damages repaired.

As it turned out, my son had to remove the carpet in the adjacent sink/vanity area (the bath itself was tiled), and he then rented a dehumidifier to insure that there was no further water damage. Southtowne agreed to have a mildew/mold expert out to insure that there was no damage to the walls or other adjacent rooms. Once we had returned to town, we got an estimate on replacing the carpet that had to be removed and made arrangements to have the carpeting installed. During the course of all this, the manager was very helpful and worked with us, his supplier, and his supplier's insurer. We submitted all the bills including the dehumidifier rental and carpet replacement and were fully reimbursed for all our out of pocket expenses.

I want to emphasize that the damage was NOT Southtowne's fault in any way and they were exceptionally cooperative and helpful in getting the leak stopped and getting us reimbursement for our expenses.

The repairman had trouble with the drain. In trying to take it out, he chipped the porcelain on the tub. He came back the next day to repair it. The repair was terrible. Within a short time it started to rust. We were told by Southtowne (note the e on the end--there is another firm that is just Souhtown--they are great) that those things happen--basically, too bad. We are trying to sell our condo and are having to replace the tub to the tune of about $2000. Not happy!

Water heater replacement was performed in a timely manner, and the cost was same as what
others quoted. I feel I got the better service.  After the replacement however I could not adjust the
water temperature and the heater remained on for long times, so I called them back for service.
This time they found a leak, so they first quickly put a valve to disable the line that had leak.
Now the water heater seems to be be working fine.  Putting in a bypass requires making
holes in the walls, finding where the connections might be available, etc., and could be quite expensive.
Mike Oak , the owner came by and was reassuring.  He did not charge for his visit.
This involvement of the owner is probably the reason the company seem to be providing
the excellent service. The office staff who scheduled and coordinated the services is also excellent.
A week later we rescheduled for the bypass pipe. Scott did excellent job in finding the connection and
the work was was done fast (2 persons 2 hours each) and a lower cost than what I think what anyone else
would have charged. For all the visits they were prompt and courteous.

Very professional and friendly. Only negative was they did get a little dirt on the carpets. Not a big deal. They are not cheap, but are worth it.

Mike was on time meeting me at my home for the estimate and we discussed added a line for a stove. He researched the capacity of the feeder line and determined it would not handle the additional supply required. The estimate for the line to the fireplace was $650 which I thought was very reasonable. The job was started and completed on time and I was billed $500 for the work. The tech explained what he had done, how long to wait before painting and cleaned up the mess. I would use them again for any plumbing project.

Water damage was discovered after the old liner was taken off. The plumber was excellent in taking care of the problem and finishing the job. This is the fourth time I have used this plumber (gas heater installed, copper piping throughout house and new kitchen sink installed). Each time was a good experience.
