Sophisticated Shades

The rep came and picked up shade at my house. It had a broken draw string. She brought it back and installed a few days later. The repair job was excellent - shade mechanism is working much smoother than before it broke. The service and repair job were great. No questions asked to pick up shade at house and repair for no charge.

I actually came in contact with this company when I was trying to find someone to fix some vertical blinds in my old home. The blinds had been there since the 1980s. I had no idea who installed them. I first called another place who refused to service them since they didn't install them. However, when I called Sophisticated Shades, they were more than happy to help. The owner, David Caldwell, came out and was able to easily fix the shades. He didn't even charge me for the service! Because of this, I decided to use them to install blinds in my newly built home (20+ windows). They were responsive, courteous, punctual, appropriately priced, and very professional. I get lots of compliments on my blinds. I accidentally broke one of my blinds after a few months (my fault). They were able to order the new custom sized shade and replace them at no charge. I will continue to use this company for all my future window needs.

Great. Jackie came out and brought samples of different window treatments, and talked me through what I needed and did measurements. It took about 3-4 weeks to get the shades, and then they came out and installed them. Everything fit perfectly. Since this is the first time I bought window treatments I gave them a "B" on price because I really don't have a good idea of price range. I suspect I could have gone cheaper, but I'm happy with the price I paid for what I got.

I checked with others, the pricing was very reasonable. It is quality, they have good direction if you do not know what you would like to have in your home they can lead you to that. If they make any mistakes or unhappy they are willing to fix it. We had a little measurement issue and they fixed it immediately.

Jackie and David are a great team.  Jackie came to my home with fabric samples based on information I had provided to her staff.  Within 30 minutes, I had found exactly what I was looking for!  She is very professional and personable.  Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of the product and installation.  No hard sell techniques, Jackie even encouraged me to take some time to be sure about my fabric selection before placing the order.  
For installation, her business partner and husband, David, takes over!  He removed the old valances, covered holes with spackling, installed my new valances and cleaned the area, all within one hour!  What a great experience!  
The new valances are beautiful, and have far exceeded my expectations!  I highly recommend Sophisticated Shades, and will be using them again in the future!

It went very well. They are exceptional. They are a husband and wife team. The husband does all the installation and the wife does the measuring and is so concerned that everything will be absolutely perfect. They are so precise that the window cleaners can even tilt the windows to clean them.

Fantastic experience from start to finish.  They were very helpful and came out to the house to help us match the honeycomb blinds we wanted and discussed options and colors.  We wanted shades that had minimal profile and would not "block" any of the top of the window when raised (they suggested the honeycomb which we chose).  Installation was thorough and the blinds look great and fit perfectly.  Also they installed it so the profile is minimal and no blocking of the window at all!  They explained the whole process and what they were doing during the installation.  We plan to use them again for our other windows!  Highly recommended!

The sales representative helped us make blind-type and color selections and took custom measurements, particularly important for the arched window.  The installer  delivered and installed the custom-made blinds, being careful not to disrupt anything in the household.  Installation was quick and painless, and everything was left in good order. 

The blinds are beautiful; we are definitely enjoying the results.  The blind for the large arched window, made from Sophisticated Shades' template, fits beautifully, can be opened and closed easily; it is truly an elegant solution.  The bedroom

blinds are high-quality and contribute to room comfort.  Representatives were knowledgeable, courteous, and very professional.  They worked efficiently.  I heartily recommend Sophisticated Shades, will use them again any time I need window coverings. 

About the price, roughly half ($550) was for the custom blind for the large arched window.  The representative had to work on a ladder to measure, and create a template for this blind.  Installation would have been extremely difficult for us.  The remainder ($550) covered the measurement and installation of blinds for 5 fairly standard bedroom windows.  Overall, I thought price was quite reasonable for the quality products and the quality service.  Sure beats the time and trouble of measuring and installing myself, where I'd have to live with my mistakes, or just a less-than-professional installation.  Thank you, Sophisticated Shades.

Jackie was professional and responsive from the first phone call, her visit, and to installation today!  I love the look her design gave my living room!  Jackie, Danielle, and Dave were easy to work with. They were punctual and delivered on their commitments. I give Sophisticated Shades an Outstanding rating!

We are very pleased with the installation. Dave was prompt and worked carefully to make sure that there was no damage to the recently painted window frames. Despite inclement weather, he did not track in any snow.

Because of the way the blinds were to be installed in our home, the tolerances on some of the mountings needed to be tighter than normally provided by the factory. Dave re-ordered the necessary parts, cut the pieces on site to fit, and made other installation adjustments unique to our home when he came back to complete the installation.

The color of four of the blinds did not match the window trim color well as we thought that it would. The material used for the blinds had a slightly different color on each of the two sides. Dave suggested turning the blind material so that the side with the better match would be visible. Because Dave had previously worked in the manufacture of blinds he knew that this could be done, and was able to change the blinds.

Dave is very particular about the appearance of the blinds Sophisticated Shades sells and installs. He notices small things that make a difference in the final appearance of the blinds, freely shares his experience to suggest improvements, and makes the adjustments needed until both he and the customer are satisfied with the installation.

Although the blinds were more expensive than what is available at the big box store, the quality of the blinds, the quality of the installation, and Dave's knowledge of the product made the price appropriate.

Plantation shutters were installed on 17 windows and 1 door. Work was done neatly and efficiently. A few small defects were found after installation and they were taken care of in a timely manner. Everything looks good. We are very happy with the work and the end product.

Sophisticated Shades was one of three vendors I contacted for an estimate for motorized Hunter Douglas Honeycomb blinds for 3ea 94 inch wide windows. Sophisticated Shades was by far the most professional and helpful of the three and they were also competitively priced. Beth arrived on time and brought plenty of samples for me to review. There was no doubt that she new her products and I was thankful for the much needed advice on what I really needed. I bought the three large motorized blinds and also 3 additional Roman shades, for other rooms. The installation was amazing to watch and the use of the new motorized blinds was explained clearly. The blinds work perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the final results. I highly recommend this company for your window treatment needs.

My first contact was with Danielle at the showroom in Dayton. She did an excellent job of explaining the options available for all types of windows and the pros/cons of my selections. Jackie met me at our home while it was still under construction to measure, and I knew that we were in good hands. Dave and Nick later spent approx 1/2 day here installing everything with great care and explaining care and cleaning.
We are thrilled with the window treatments, and won't hesitate to recommend Sophisticated Shades. Everything from start to finish was handled perfectly, with excellent follow-up. It was a joy to work with this company.

Fine. They installed two blinds. The blinds were custom made and the measurement was very good. They appear to be good quality blinds.

Jackie came out to measure and give us an estimate. She was very professional, brought lots of samples, and had great ideas. Her estimate was also the least expensive, so it was an easy decision to go with them. A few weeks later, the blinds were in, and Dave came out to install them (installation is VERY reasonable), and he did a great job. Can't say enough nice things about them.

The previous owners of my house had the downstairs done by them. After remodeling, I wanted the upstairs to match the upstairs. I also wanted to add a vertical blind to my double doors leading outside. I called them out and they were able to set me up immediately for a free consultation. They (thankfully) were able to get the same blinds, but said it would take a few weeks. Unfortunately it took about a month and a half due to back orders, but Robin (lady @ Sophisticated) kept me very informed of the whole situation was very apologetic. When they came in, we were able to schedule an appointment around my job and the installer came out as scheduled. He was neat, professional, and a very positive person. He installed everything fantastically and it looked great. He took the time to explain the proper way to operate the vertical blinds.

THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT. THEY MEASURED FOR ME. THEY HELPED ME PICK OUT THE BEST COLORS. THE FINISHED PRODUCT IS OF GOOD QUALITY AND THEY INSTALLED THEM FOR ME. MY DAUGHTER HAS SINCE USED THEM.
