"When I hear of unscrupulous contractors who disappear after taking a customer’s down payment, it makes me furious that they would cheat customers and taint other contractors by their actions. However, a down payment is customary in the roofing industry and we require a 10% down payment for a job of the size quoted to Ms. Jenkins. We always deliver a written contract that specifies in detail the materials to be used and the work to be performed. The down payment is only required upon acceptance of a signed contract. We have been in business serving the Dayton area for 24 years and this has always been our policy. We are proud to have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and work hard to retain it by following accepted business practices and delivering exceptional service and value. We can understand a customer’s reluctance to make a down payment, but we trust that customers will understand that a written contract secured by a reasonable down payment is a prudent protection for both parties. We recommend that customers should only give a down payment to a reputable, local roofing company that will offer a written contract as assurance of the work to be performed. At Solid Rock Roofing, we will always offer our recommendation with integrity and will work with you to provide information on multiple options to help you decide on the service that is in your best interest, considering both the expense and the protection of your home.
