"Thank you [Member Name Removed]! We appreciate the feedback."
"Thanks!!!! We do try to please. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you."
Contract was signed 3/12/2011 with Jason Hadden. During this time Jason discussed the services to be performed. They would clean up daily? which they did on the exterior.
Jason was to start the workers daily and check in? which he did not Promised to touch up paint if necessary? Never happened
Cover the walk up attic floor with tarps then clean up when finished/ did not happen, we had to do this removing 600 pounds of debrie
Workers on roof were to wear safty gear? They wore harnesses but not attached to safety lines ( This is a 2 !-2 story home with 7/12 pitch roof)
What actually happened ;
Crew arrived August 25-2011, set up and tore off, began installation
Crew arrived Augusted 26, 2011 and finished installation of roof wirh dormer work to be done soon.
Punch list was emailed September 18, 2011
Single worker arrived to cover dormer with siding to match our home and all exposed wood, the workmanship
was shoddy at best and later repaired. Siding was only install, no trim. When telling the installer we wanted the dormers maintanence free, He stated he was only told to side, so the underhang was left exposed/later completed on
September 25,2011 ( one month into project)
The flashing work on bay window did not line up and chaulking was terrible. Never repaired.
Leaf guard was install on one side of house that was half full of consruction debrie .
November 11, 2011 I called Scott Swan, Manager. The Company financed $4,000.00 @ 3 % interest and we had yet to received our repayment work. Discussed With Mr Swan that the flashing was not acceptable . He wanted to know if it leaked. Leaking was not our issue. He then said we needed a check for Jason Hadden to pickup for the leafguard. I told him all was included in bid. The extra leafgaurd that was disscussed for the garage was never received and had never been ordered. He checked our contract, said he would speak with Jason and then return our call. We are still waiting for that call.
Concerns:
They received 100% of their money (Deborah Swan stopped to get a check on October 1, 2011 which we had 1 hour notice on a Saturday) Jason had stated we would be billed two weeks after completion and money due 2 weeks later. and we have a new roof, 2 torn screens, bad flashing. No help from Stephen Ticner from home office. He reviewed our concerns and photo. Agreed it would be fixed. Never done!
Conclusion:
We did get a new roof, It looks nice, but the amount the misery we had to endure was uncalled for. The workers worked dawn to dusk to finshing in two day. If they had not rushed maybe screens would not have been torn, siding hammer marked' junk left in gutters and then covered up . In the end they just chose to ignore us until we quit bugging them. At this point in time it too late to salvage this relationship. Sherrif Goslin Dayton will not be welcome on our property. The home office will have to provide warranty work with a different group.
- June 7, 2012 Called Jason Hadden with list of concerns Scheduled to stop by next day. As of Today 8/13/2013 still waiting .
"Some customers are not worth working with. It is hard to please everyone. We certainly tried and did extra work that was not part of the job. Also, some Angie's List customers keep updating there bad review over and over to try and make it hard on businesses. It gives you a real insight on what type of customer you are dealing with. We give great service and do awesome work! Most of our work comes from referrals! Sorry this customer feels this way."
"Thanks for letting us serve you! You where a great customer to work for. Thanks again!"
"[member name removed] You where not able use one door at your house because of safety and the debris was moved that day. You could go out other doors. We tore of 5 layers of shingles and the guys did a great job of clean up and not damaging your flowers. And when you needed service we came out right away. We added a damper vent for free 2 years after the job was done. Sorry you feel this way"
"I understand the chimney cap at the end took to long to complete. Customer did not pay until all work was done. Sorry cap and small details dragged on too long. Sorry and hope we can help you out in the future."
The work went fine, very professional job (roofing is HARD work). They did do some siding repair with a sub, and the caulking job associated with that was just fair. We did ask for a new shutter, and Mr Swan agreed to look, but never followed up. Calls to the office were answered promptly, very courteous, but mostly calls weren't returned. Overall, you buy a new roof to get a new roof, not to have a relationship with the managers, although that would be nice. Not a lot of attention to details that weren't strictly related to the new roof.
Flash forward to May 2011, huge hailstorm, most of the roofs (rooves? :)) in the area were damaged. It took 2+ months to get them to come out, fair enough, it was a rare event. USAA found some dings in the flashing, but the roof looks OK and S-G agreed that it was fine. However, the storm tore one of the gutters. I tried to get S-G to call back about fixing that, but I went 6 weeks without a callback, with both my wife and I alternating calling them. You would think we would get the hint.
On the last attempt, I got a little testy and said I was going to reactivate my Angies list membership and post a review. Mr Swan called 10 minutes later. After a week or so, he sent someone to look, mumbled about rehanging the gutter, no further contact. Taking the hint, we found someone else to do the work.
In summary: quality work, high end price, and quot;best buddiesand quot; before you sign, little followup or extras. Don't expect much unless you are getting the whole roof, they don't really want the smaller jobs. If you really need something, threaten with Angie's list!
Overall - good work but poor communication as to when the work was to be started.
