Renewal by Andersen of Dayton

The job went well. There were no problems. The installers were professional, friendly and responsive to any questions or concerns we had. They definitely wanted to leave us with nicely completed, top of the line product. They took the time to make sure we knew how the product worked and how to care for the windows.

Our 60 year old windows in three rooms no longer opened .We were unable to reinsert the storm windows resulting in ice forming on the inside and lovely icicles on the outside!
Kyle Bias , a design consultant came to discuss our options. The windows were then measured ,and once made it took two days to install them.
Patrick and Andrew did a very professional job removing the old windows,installing the new ones, caulking, interior and exterior trim, and cleaning up afterward. 
We decided to leave the grilles off as we now have the most amazing view from the inside.

Overall, things went as planned.

I asked when the contract was signed with Renewal By Anderson of Dayton about the crew, and was assured they were a good, professional crew. Who showed up was the foreman , who had sold us the services,his 19 year old   son, and rotating day laborers. The foreman frequently left the job site during the day to visit other jobs in progress, and the crew's typical workday was 10-2 with a break for lunch.The job took much longer than expected to complete, approximately  three weeks. Within two months the siding was falling off our house, and continued to fall off in various places,  mostly independent of weather conditions. Of course it also fell off during severe weather, considering the poor quality of work. We never had this problem with the siding that was replaced by Renewal By Anderson of Dayton, so there was no question of our house walls being the source of failure to stabilize the brackets for the siding.This was mentioned by Renewal By Anderson of Dayton as a cause for the problem. The product looked warped in places . Insulation under the siding, in places,  was put on in pieces instead of in sheets.The company was responsive to coming out for repairs, but after two and one half years of repeated failure of the siding, Renewal By Anderson of Dayton has promised,  and now refused a partial refund, so that we may replace the entire area they worked on.
When we got bids on replacement of the siding, both contractors, who have A ratings with the local BBB, without my asking them to look at  soffit work that had also been done By Renewal By Anderson of Dayton, pointed out that some of the soffit board was falling out of the trim, which is up there to hold the board in place. The reason given is that the board was cut short and now will not stay within the two side brackets, with minimal shift. There also were spaces in between the boards, instead of having a continuous barrier, and most noticeably, the fascia trim was bent, joints are uneven, and some were not even nailed in place. When this problem was discussed with Renewal By Anderson of Dayton, the solution  given was for them to repair the work. I refused,reasoning that if the company knew how to perform the job in the first place, they would have done so. I have asked for partial ( 50%) reimbursement for this substandard job, and Renewal by Anderson of Dayton now is refusing to give us the original agreed upon reimbursement for the siding, which they have attempted to fix over a period of two and a half years, unless a document is signed that there will be no complaints on the soffit work.
UPDATE: We filed a complaint against this business with the Dayton BBB in March 2012. After going through arbitration, we received a refund of 60% of our original costs for the two projects described above. We have since replaced the siding  , and it's remained in place for eight straight months! The soffit replacement work is night and day from what Renewal installed.
