Esther W.
May 2015
On July 2, 2014, an employee from Paul's Outdoor Power Equipment picked up four pieces of lawn equipment from our farm to be repaired: 2 self propelled lawn mowers, a 3- wheeled weed trimmer, and a riding lawn mower. One of the self-propelled mowers was a Troy-Built mower. When the driver picked up the equipment, he did not tag the equipment or give me a claim check. He stated that the equipment would be tagged when he got back to the shop. Although I thought this was rather unusual, I trusted that this would be taken care of because I had used this company before and never had any problems with equipment mix-ups. (However, I had never sent four pieces of equipment to be repaired at one time.) When the equipment was returned to us in August, the Troy-Built self-propelled mower was missing. Instead, a Troy-Built push mower was given to us. When I called the Paul, the owner, he claimed that the mower we received was the correct mower because the tag number matched the tag number listed in the company's computer. I explained to him that we have neither purchased nor used or a push mower in more than 25 years and apparently his staff tagged the wrong mower. ( NOTE: There were numerous Troy-Built mowers sitting on the lot to be repaired at Paul's shop last summer, and apparently, the wrong mower was tagged, and our mower was given to someone else.) I explained that this was unacceptable. Paul was convinced that the mower he sent back was the correct one. After several discussions about this matter, Paul stated that he would find a replacement in the spring of 2015. And as compensation for this horrendous mix up, he sent me a check for an insulting $32, which I have not cashed. Approximately two weeks ago (May 1, 2015) Paul?s driver brought over a self-propelled mower to compensate for the mower he lost. Even though it was a newer model, it was in much worse condition than the one we sent to him. I refused to accept it, and told the driver to take it back to the shop. I have yet to get a response from Paul. So, as it now stands, we still do not have our self propelled mower that Paul?s Outdoor Power Equipment picked up last year; nor do we have an adequate replacement!
