MERKER ORNAMENTAL IRON INC

From the beginning the owner’s arrogant bragging about the product and the high cost nothing rose even close to those claims. The install was 6 months after initial contact and 2 months after promised. Installed in our stairs during rain and snow and had to come back to reinstall because it was wobbly. The coating/paint was bubbled up and down the 30’ of stairs. Had to push to get them back to redo much of surface. All along the customer service person blamed everything but the installation and finishing. Gave the company another chance with a shorter railing on our covered porch. This was a better install yet less than 1 year after install there are areas where paint has chipped or not applied properly and iron is exposed and started to rust. No response from company when requested a a repair. Now it has been approximately 2 years since the long stair railing was installed. It has almost never been used because we enter from side of house at garage door. As I meet a delivery person on the stairs I saw that the top surface had discolored and there was numerous points where the paint had chipped and rust was starting. I immediately called the company and asked that we be scheduled to have a repair. As usual I talked to the same person who always answers the phone and received the standard reply, “ that should not have happened, did something scratch the surface? Well it will be awhile because we have a lot of re-dos scheduled and we are having trouble finding anyone to catch up on the requests. This was 2 months ago - no contact back from the company. All of the boasting and guarantees about quality and workmanship have never come close to the owners initial boasts. In summary - go elsewhere if you want quality workmanship, good customer service, timely installation and service, and standing behind product. It is possible that a customer with a large order and paying a lot more money may receive better response and service, but for the Average residential customer there seems to be little regard for quality and customer service. Obviously, I need to find another wrought iron company to remove and reapply a protective finish to my two sets of railings. With a proper quality finish this can be a great addition to our home. Thank you.

They were very professional. The railing looks great . They made sure the railing was very secure. The owner came out to do the quote and to oversee the install. I would recommend to anyone that needs wrough iron.

They were excellent. They did a great job. It looked phenomenal. Nobody does it.

Merker was prompt when we met at the house.  He took measurements and showed me the type of railing he would install and how it would be installed, and gave me a quote. 
The following week I received a courtesy call letting me know the approximate time for the install the next day.  They showed up on time, were professional and installed the new railing hauling the old rusty one away.

The response and estimate was very timely. I appreciated the estimators professionalism and options for completetion. The workers were professional and did a quality job. It now looks as it did back in 1928.

I called Merker for an estimate. I had a 14-foot metal rail on the balcony of my rental property that needed replaced.  Several legs that attach to the balcony were completely rusted through. 

The owner of the company came out and immediately you could tell that he knew how to fix the problem. Rather than remove and replace with a new rail, he suggested the cheaper solution of taking down the old rail, and then he would take it to his shop to bead blast, weld on new legs, and repaint. That process took a couple of weeks, but he brought back and installed a beautifully restored rail. 

The cost seems a little pricey, but I cannot complain at all about anything else.  Merker did a great job. He and his crew were punctual, professional, and did exactly what they told me they were going to do.  I would highly recommend them for any iron work, or welding you need done. 

Well, for starters I was not impressed by how long it had taken them to get back to me on the estimate. I had to call one week after the initial call to get the estimate. Apparently, the technician had already inspected the gate but the clerical staff simply forgot to call me. It took over a week to have the gate done which I thought it was a bit too long. I also did not appreciate when the technician came to my house to install the gate and left a mess for me to clean up afterwards like cigarette buds, scraps of metal and even tools. The price and craftsmanship seem reasonable but they definitely need to work on their professionalism.

They were able to provide a prompt quote, and made the repairs the next day. The repairs were completed to our satisfaction - they looked great and completely fixed the broken gate and lock mechanism.

It went wonderfully.

I was dealing with three separate contractors for the whole porch job (plus two who kind of fell off the radar), so the whole thing got a little complex for someone not in the business.  But everyone from Merker Iron was patient and professional.  Since the railings and columns were installed, not only have all my neighbors complimented the new curb appeal of the house, but total strangers out walking their dogs have done so too.  My heartfelt gratitude to Merker Ornamental Iron!

My experience with them was very good. They were on time. The men who did the work were professional, and they explained everything they were doing. They did an excellent job, and when they were done the product met my expectations 100%. They took the old railing away and did a fantastic job. I give them A's across the board.
