Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with McSwain flooring and will never have them or an Armstrong floor in our house again. Be forewarned, neither company will stand behind their flooring and the "lifetime warranty" they sell you is meaningless. We purchased an Armstrong vinyl plank floor (A6899 Luxe Plank) from them for our kitchen. It was supposed to be their top-of-the-line floor and was sold with a lifetime warranty. We recently started a remodel of the kitchen with plans to keep the flooring in place. However, during construction, our contractor noticed that the vinyl planks were separating at the joints. We called McSwain, who in turn sent someone to the house (Paul I believe) and he was extremely rude and condescending. He basically said our issue was "an environmental" issue and they would not honor the warranty claim. With this news we opened a claim with Armstrong in the hopes that they would stand behind their product. Fast forward 5 months later and today they rejected the claim stating, " issue you are having with your flooring is not a warranted issue". No other information provided. Our kitchen is no different from any other kitchen, so their excuse of it being an "environmental" issue does not hold water. Especially given that they can't/won't explain what that even means. Steer clear of both McSwain's and Armstrong!

Salesman did not order enough shims and the installers had to leave for a while to retrieve more. Salesman told me they would move furniture, he failed to mention that if I moved it all out of the bedrooms to help the installers, they would not move it back. It seems they will only put back what they move. I thought I was doing them a great favor! They did disassemble a day bed and re-assemble it. They installers also re-seamed a loose seam in my hallway. I am very happy with the end result.. We will be ordering more carpet for another bed room very soon.

Chuck and Chris were extremely professional and they worked HARD -- finishing the whole job in a day, except for one part of the stairs where we had ordered extra edging on the carpet. As a result, the carpet needed to be sent back to a processing facility. McSwain's was prompt about scheduling the follow-up installation, just a few days later. We were a bit taken aback by the price, but my wife and I feel the end result is worth it. Thanks!

Contract installer did not install the luan subfloor that was paid for.  The quarter round trim was not what had been selected.  The wrong finish was installed twice.  We finally gave up.  They never followed up to see if we were please, then charged the balance to our credit card without our knowledge.

Quality of laminate was exceptionally nice.  Installers were late, sloppy, unprofessional and did not complete the job.  I ended up hiring a third party to come in and finish.

We had a few issues. We were doing the whole house and they were suppose to put 1/4 board on top of an existing sub floor which had a 1/4 board already there for the cermanic tile. There was a communication problem and they put about 1/2 board which caused issues with our doors and where the tile and the wood floor met. They did pay to have our steel front door trimmed and did an excellent job. They tried a couple of options to satisfy the drop from the tile and wood floor and finally we have a happy ending. The installation itself was great. Also Heather who was my main contact for installation was wonderful. She made sure everything was stayed on top of. Sales person was not very helpful. If it wasn't for this problem I would of gave them a A. Our situation was probably rare due to having so much done in our house.

It was not a great shopping experience. We felt that the saleswoman wasn't showing us enough choices and that she was pushing a certain product. She may however have been trying to accomodate some of our wishes but just did so by jnarriowing down to one or two choices. Salesperson met all expectations coming out to give us an estimate. Date to install was later then they told us to expect but this didn't matter much to us. It might have if we were expecting company. Installers were pleasant and efficient and we were happy with the carpet and installation. However, the installers put several nicks in the front of an $800 piece of furniture we had recently bought. We felt that we got the run-around when we called McSwains. After a few calls and being told to talk to this person or that, we were told we would have to call the contractors who laid the carpet. We felt that McSwains should have accountability for their subcontracted service. We never got resolution and are using furniture ink on the mars of our expensive furniture.

although i am unsure of the dates of service, we appreciated the time he took to assure we matched the carpeting already in the basement since it had just been remodeled a few months before.

I had trouble matching the carpet that was staying so there was very little time left to have it installed by the deadline but they worked with me and made it work. The installers were really good, they did a good job from start to finish and were neat and timely.

see above with the addition of the installers made quite a mess, first in the house then in the garage sawing wood. It should have been done in the driveway, weather was fine, sawdust was everywhere.

McSwain did a great job working with us on the price and the installers were very professional.  I would highly recommend McSwain and the father-n-son installer team , Joe and Joey.  Great guys and a professional install.

the hardest part was not dealing with install...the hardest part was packing up all of our stuff, every book and toy that we have (young boys) and all of our stuff that we have collected over the years into boxes so that it could be moved.  Make sure you allow yourself enough time for that...it is just like moving into a new home because you have to have boxes, paper, everything as if you are moving across town.

They are really excellent; any problems you have they address promptly, politely and bend over backwards to make sure you are satisfied. Their pricing is competitive and I will use them again in the future.

It was very smooth and professional. They were responsive to our needs. The prices were good. We used them about 2 or 3 years ago and had good success. The price was fair; it worked out to be able $5.50 a square foot. The normal prices are over $6 and they gave us two discounts, one from the carpet maker and they also gave a discount by paying upfront in full by cash. It was a 5 percent discount. The selection process was good. They knew their products and they listened to what we wanted and guided us. There are cheaper carpet places if you are only looking for price. We would absolutely use them again.

Very helpful in showroom. Measurements were done on time with many helpful suggestions. Some minor glitches with installation which were promptly attended to. I got the feeling all along that these people knew what they were doing. I am very satisfied with the whole experience and plan to go back to them when I'm ready to have the kitchen and bathrooms tiled.

The two men came at a time of day earlier than I had scheduled, due to miscommunication between the sales person (Ken) and the install team. They may have been slightly irked, but agreed to come back the next day and were very nice. The installation went fairly smoothly. They did no floor prep of any kind, although that was included in the estimate (we got that $75 back as a result, but had to call Ken twice to get it refunded). There were a few areas that I think needed filler, but they did not do it (installed on concrete). The installers left 1/2-inch gaps at the walls...more than necessary, and hence we had to use 3/4-inch quarter round, which looks slightly ridiculous. The floor is bouncy in a couple of spots. We called Ken and he *said* he'd talk to the installers, but they never called us. Fairly minor, really, and once we got the furniture back in it doesn't bother us as much. Also, we paid for labor to put in two T-molding pieces at the room entrances, but the installers forgot the necessary tools to do it. They left the pieces for us to do ourselves. After a couple of calls to Ken, we got that money refunded as well. Inconvenient.

Crew of two required about a day and a half to complete the work. The work was flawless. Our flooring salesperson ordered very little extra material, saving us the cost of buying an entire extra box of flooring (which would have added to the overall material costs). She had confidence that the installers could complete the work with such little extra material. Extra material is required to account for mistakes and the typical waste associated with cutting pieces to fit around obstructions. The quality of workmanship was incredible. I would guess that we paid more for materials than we would at a big box retailer, although we purchased the flooring during a sale period, saving us 25% off the regular McSwain price. I would guess that labor cost was probably competitive with other contractors. In general, the workmanship from McSwain made the slightly higher price justifiable, in my mind. The total cost was precisely as quoted by the salesperson.
