The swirl ceiling texture is peeling and dropping from ceiling in large pieces after replaced by Great Maintenance 7/27/2019. Refusal to repair. On about 7/27/2019, I hired Ben Thompson DBA GM, to complete repairs at my home. The largest repair was to my bathroom ceiling. The swirling texture was peeling by the vent fan and over the bathtub. Ben stated that to repair the swirling texture, the whole ceiling would need to be scraped and a sealant coat applied to keep out moisture and then the ceiling would need to be retextured. He quoted a price of $930 for all the repairs with the ceiling costing approximately $600. The bathroom ceiling took approximately 3 days with 2 employees coming in and out and applying sealant, paint, and the textured coating to the ceiling. The work was imperfect, but acceptable. On Sunday, March 8, 2020, I noticed the textured ceiling was splitting and coming down from the ceiling in the shape of an X about 1 foot wide. This area was nowhere near where the ceiling was originally peeling. I contacted Ben via text with a picture and he offered to fix the ceiling after taking a look at the damage. I informed him there was no damage, but that the texturing was coming off the ceiling. He offered to look at it, but did not respond with a day or time. About a week later, the quarantine occurred and I decided not to contact Mr. Thompson per the limits of the quarantine until the limits were lifted. On June 17th, I again texted Mr. Thompson to ask that he repair the ceiling. He asked me to take a picture and send it. I did. He then asked me to take another picture from another angle. I did and sent it. He offered to come by Monday, June 22nd. I asked for a time frame for his visit. He responded, "I will touch base with you tomorrow and let you know more specific time, I may even be able to stop by tomorrow." (June 19th) I heard nothing from Mr. Thompson and so I texted him again on Thursday, June 25th. "How can I get my ceiling fixed? I know you're very busy and need to make money. Is there a way to make it easier?" I waited over 24 hours later on 6/26/2020 and Mr. Thompson had not responded. I texted again. "Well. I guess I will go to the BBB. Don't like to do that." He stated that he could get me on the schedule, but that there were four other customers ahead of me and that if I felt the need to go to the BBB, he would definitely respond. I replied, "I don't want to, but you do not respond or contact when you say you will. I started messaging in February." He stated, "In March we looked at your water heater for installation you said nothing about a crack in your ceiling, I also have the facts. Go ahead and contact the Better Business Bureau or you can pay somebody else to fix your ceiling if you do not want us to make the needed repair." I stated, "I just want my ceiling fixed and would like to hear from you when you say you will contact me. I also apologize. It was March, not February. Mr. Thompson texted, "We will be happy to fix the ceiling if it is our fault, we are booked solid Monday, I will probably have a little flexibility Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday to at least come out and assess the damage and we can make a plan from there" On Saturday, June 27th, I replied, "Great. Thanks." On Tuesday, June 30, Mr. Thompson stated, "Good morning to you, I will have time to stop by your property this evening or tomorrow evening, possibly even late afternoon whatever works best for you let me know when it is convenient please and thank you" Twelve minutes later I texted, "Tomorrow evening works" "And thanks" On Thurs. July 2nd, I had not heard anything, so I texted another picture of the ceiling at 12:46 PM. He asked, "Want me to stop by today are you home?" I said, "Sure," at 12:47 and, "Lmk what time," at 12:48. Again, I received no reply and Mr. Thompson did not show up. Finally, on July 7 at 4:40 PM, I sent a picture of the ceiling and let him know I would be reviewing his business/hiring someone else. He said the ceiling showed damage and he would charge, and said he would reply to my posts by calling me an outstanding teacher. Requested no contact
