In each project the service person arrived in a timely fashion, was skilled in the areas needed. Performed work efficiently with minimum interuptions for parts chasing.
Certainly well satisfied and fully expect to use this company as future needs arise.

I repeatedly asked CFIA to provide me weekly with a few photos of the completed work - as clearly stipulated in the contract. After much pleading finally on Dec. 28 - one month later - they sent me pictures (plus same photos on CD via reg mail) of what I hope looked like the completed back porch, some electrical work in the laundry room/basement and some small improvements they made to the first completed apartment (fixed surround in bathroom, added some doorknobs on doors). After that first set of photos, after again much pleading, in early January Don Claggett sent me thirty-one digital pictures, mostly of walls and ceiling cracks - almost all uncompleted work. In that email Don Claggett asked for more money. Apt was completely unfinished. Painting, carpeting and fixtures were NOT done - the main reasons I hired them. This was almost two months after they began and way past the extended deadline. All they kept doing was ask for money. I communicated with John Claggett and politely stated I wanted pictures of COMPLETED work not uncompleted unpainted walls/ceilings and he said that Don Claggett would send them. I never got them. On the morning on January 7, I received an emergency phone call from John Claggett informing me there was a "break-in" at the house - that burglars had broken into the basement and stolen copper piping, caused plumbing problems and damaged the water heater. He said that he had to fix the damage and replace the water heater. The very next day I was emailed a bill (copy attached) for approximately $1,000 for the damage, as this was damage outside the provisions of the contract. Again no photos of the heater, piping, etc. or evidence sent of work completed, no receipts etc. At this point, I became dubious. Up to that point I had paid CFIA $6,435.28. They kept pressing me for more money but continued to supply no photographs and did not return calls very much. Therefore on January 17, I communicated to them that without further photos showing me work completed, I could not supply payment. It was at this point that they ceased communications completely. I never heard from them again. That was over five weeks ago. I have called repeatedly but get no response. Throughout this whole ordeal, my property manager for the other rental kept insisting that the Claggetts were "honest but bad at returning calls". They are of course in flagrant violation of their contract. Am very stressed. Hired these people because of their great Angie's and A- BBB rating plus their longstanding existence. Am flabbergasted at this turn of events considering this company's STELLAR Angie's rating. My property is now unoccupied and exposed thanks to Claggett's Fix It All.
Response from Claggett's Fix It All LLC
"Claggett's Fix It All, LLC after many attempts with client was unable to complete any type of resolution. What is clearly not stated in full detail are the additional expenses that occurred before we could actually start work. Also, Claggett's Fix It All, LLC went out of it's way to ensure the power and gas was turned on at property. We not only paid out the monies given the large outstanding balance for utilities but to try and keep things moving, Claggett's Fix It All, LLC put the utilities in our company name. As this was talked over with client in much detail and they agreed that this was the only way to keep the work moving forward. Further more, by clients own statement, the property was originally worked on by another contractor and yes according to client "walked-off". And as to matter with break-in and water heater and plumbing issue, clients own property manager confirmed all damage and told Claggett's Fix It All, LLC to make repairs and that property manager would contact client and inform client of situation. Further, as to photos and such, client was given this information. Client was informed that due to volume in which they wanted pictures, they would have to be mailed. Also, client was told that Claggett's Fix It All, LLC was having issues of downloading photos and that there would be a delay. Once again, even based on clients own statement of having previous contractor "walk-off", client was told that work that was done was done incorrectly and that we would need to fix it first before we could even begin to work on "The Contract". Again, client understood and with the assist of property manager confirming findings of previous work being incorrect needed to be corrected. Claggett's Fix It All, LLC did not take or keep any monies from this project, in fact all funds were long spent before job really got off the ground. Further more, client was sent pictures of all materials bought and showing materials stored at project site and material stayed on site. Claggett's Fix It All, LLC has never had an issue of this scale before nor ever occur since. Our previous reviews speak of our company. We have made many changes in the past two years. Our communication has improved 100%. Phones are answered and all calls are returned and all information is now data stored. Claggett's Fix It All, LLC is truly sorry that we could not resolve this matter. We tried to make client understand and yet client refused to adjust anything on their end even after accepting the facts from both parties. When compliant originally came to Claggett's Fix It All, LLC attention, we followed up immediately with both client and Angieslist.com. After much time trying to resolve, which we thought was resolved, Claggett's Fix It All, LLC on October 24, 2011 discovered that Angieslist was still showing as unresolved. Claggett's Fix It All, LLC immediately called Angieslist and responded once again."

He quoted me a price and when he was done with the work he told me he didn't have to do as much as he thought and he gave me a cheaper price. He is very personable and trustworthy.

Don provides very detailed and timely estimates for the work to be performed. Through discussions we made some changes to the jobs along the way. I wanted all LED lighting in my basement and had specific ideas on how I wanted it done. Don and John did a good job accommodating my requests and Don stuck with his price even though I think it was much tougher than he originally envisioned. I essentially ask the Claggett's to do a number of jobs as described above and they completed each with quality products and professionalism. While they were not all completed on the original schedules, there were circumstances that prevented this including requirements that I had for which there was no real basis to know how long it would take and also the way the previous bathroom fixtures were installed that required extra work. Don was always in communication and they worked extra hours to try to accommodate schedule as much as possible. Overall, I was very satisfied with their work and would recommend them to others and call them again for work at my house.

At the suggestion of Mr. Claggett the attic insulation process was done from the garage. Even though this meant cutting a hole in the upper garage wall, it was a very good suggestion, since the process of adding the insulation is quite messy. The mess in the garage was somewhat contained because of prep with plastic sheeting and removal of most items sitting out on the garage floor. The clean-up of the garage was very thorough. The entire job was done in the time frame promised and I am very satisfied with the manner in which Mr. Claggett and his crew did the work.

Originally, they had estimated $950 to put a thin (1/4") layer of drywall over the existing. They rearranged their job schedule to accommodate our pressing needs, and started within the week. However, after setting up for that job, and finding the studs too far apart to make it look good (it would have buckled), they were willing to remove the old walls and put in all new 1/2" drywall for about $1300. They found numerous electrical shorts in the walls, and were very willing to deal with what they could at no cost, more importantly they were willing to show me what to do myself to fix some of these issues. The quality of the drywall job is excellent. Very satisfied with these guys.

We had a 9:00 appointment. They called at 8:55 to say they would be 1/2 hour late. They arrived at 9:20. Don asked a lot of questions and went to work. This was a backup of a long distance. They determined what it was, explained their intentions thoroughly and completed the work by noon. They were open about what needed to be done, explained every step and did it right. They also pointed out some mold problems which we had suspected, and told us how they could fix that, as well as a faucet leak problem. We were extremely pleased at the work and the reasonable cost.

Don and John arrived promptly for an estimate and even returned to explain further when I had additional questions. They happily supplied examples of the materials they would use. Work started early in the day as promised and they continued until the job was complete. They left my garage clean and hauled away their trash. Don and John Claggett are very professional and seem to have excellent work ethics.

I choose Claggetts after viewing their history on Angie's List. Don Claggett arrived close to the time scheduled. He had difficulty finding my home. Thought he should have used a map to locate my home, so that finding it would not be a problem. He worked quickly and used a tarp on the floor. He did a nice job on the ceilings he painted and cleaned up when he left. I was pleased with his work and his manner.

Overall, the Claggett team did a superb job. I am an investor living in Columbus, Ohio, but own properties in the Dayton area. I found myself in a very bad situation where I had the city turn on water service after a tenant abandoned a property. When the service got turned on, water poured out from the broken pipe where the previous tenant removed the washer and also the attached hardware. I already called Mr. Clagget to change out locks in another property and found myself having to ask him to divert our original appointment for him instead to go to this property to assess the water problem. He didn't have his equipment with him to work on the plumbing since he was originally called to change out locks, however, the main valve had been closed off, we went to the other property where he successfully change locks on three doors and helped me secure that property as well. He then went back to the other property later that evening with necessary tools and hardware to repair.

I called for an estimate. They came out the very next day. I showed them the water damage and they immediately wanted to go up in the attic and see if they could find the original source of the water leak. I was very pleased with the fact that they didn't just want to patch my drywall and run. They wanted to go a step further and fix the leak also. I could not find the leak when I looked but Don found it immediately and all I needed was a little sealant around the dryer vent. They gave me a fair written estimate that I agreed to, they came out when promised, and on time, also. Don's brother did the work at my home and I thought he did an excellent job.

Honest, hardworking and great work. I would recommend Don for any work. If he can't do it himself, or thinks you will have better service through someone else, he tells you. The work he did was awesome. He even worked with my tenants when needed to put things in order. He worked better with them than my management company. I don't want to recommend him, just so that I can keep him for myself, but he deserves to get all the work he can. You won't find better.
