BUCKEYE FENCE & DECK

After installation, discoverd the gates did not close easily.  At first thought it was because it was new materials.  After awhile it was apparent that the gates were not made correctly.  The gates were custom made.  I called to get Steve to come out and look at the gates while the fence was still under warranty.  He sent a young worker who said that certain parts needed replacing on both gates.  They never came back for the reair and I can't reach the company by phone.  I spent nearly 8,000 for a fence to keep my dog inside the yard but it's woethless without operable gates.  I have to use unsightly ropes on my brand new fence.  Do not use Buckeye Fence or the owner Steve for anything.

First, the invoice for this job was written on 'Steve's A- Z Heating and A/C.  Initally everything was great.  We agreed to the type of fence, and Steve threw in a furnace check.  I paid the complete price, $3,650 by credit card during our initial meeting.  Things started to go down hill when he called the next day and said the agency that processes credit card payments was charging him high fees - AND he said he thought I was going to pay cash for the job (despite the website that says credit card excepted). 
Halfway through, he says he needs cash flow to buy more wood.  By then, the credit card co. had returned the $3650 to my credit card but becasue I didn't have the complete 3650 in cash, I had to get a  cash advance on my credit card.  
Appreciative that I gave him cash, he adds to my invoice that he would purchase the solar lamps and install them.  Unfortunately after he finished the fence, he was never seen again.  When I would call him about the lamps, he would tell me he never agreed to buy the lamps - I was the one responsible for the lamps.
Working with Steve started out great but ended up a big disappointment.  I actually took my case to the BBB but despite the receipts supporting my case,  BBB never got far becasue Steve didn't cooperate. 
My advice, Steve does a great job on building fences, but get his word in writting that he accepts credit card and most importantly, NEVER pay the full amount until he completes the job.
