$750
Service provided was overpriced, amateurish and terrible. Paid $7850, which is really high for standard drain assembly. On their first attempt they forgot to seal one of the pipe connections. Total amateur mistake. Had to call them back in. Second time they found the mistake, but still had a leak after their second attempt to fix it. On the third attempt the plumber actually told me that if it leaks again it must be because of something else and wouldn't be on their dime. Can you believe that?? After two times they had to fix their own mistakes!! No apologies and no discounts for my inconvenience and their poor work. Then when I eventually had to try to clear out an unrelated clog using the overflow/cleanout, I found that they used a permanent seal on it, which should not be done specifically because that has to be used as a bypass to the drain for clog removal with a snake. So then I was stuck fixing that mistake on my own because there was no way I was letting these idiots back in my house and touching my plumbing! These guys seemed to have no clue what they were doing beyond maybe watching a youtube video and made many mistake along the way no professional plumber should ever make, but I was stuck paying professional plumber pricing. DO NOT USE!

The service was excellent. Ed from Ben Franklin was very personable, and friendly. Instead of pulling the cap from the pipe in the laundry room, he actually cut the vent pipe, augured out the clog, then fixed the pipe. Doing this allows me to fix future problems myself. When there was confusion regarding the price of the service call, he wanted to make sure I received what I had paid for. Therefore, we called Angie's List, got the confusion cleared up, and he completed the job. I recommend Ed from Ben Franklin Plumbing. He was professional, yet friendly.

Plumber was looking for everything that was wrong that I didn't even call them about. Asked a bunch of unnecessary and invasive questions that sounded as if he was looking to report issues to an inspector if I didn't use BF Plumbing to fix them. They're prices are RIDICULOUS! They also try very aggressively to sell you their repair plans for their already overpriced service. Never again.

He came in and showed me where the price to clear out my garbage disposal would be $142.00 and my $50 dollar coupon would go towards that. It took him 10 minutes to finish the job and I was billed total cost of $221.00 I could have gone out and bought and replaced my disposal at home depot for $165.00. I found $142.00 to be extremely high to begin but agreed. I have wasted about one hour of my life now and really feel ripped off!!!

Good, very professional, quick, punctual. Did not know about the offer through Angie's list though I had spoken to their rep about it.

Went good except the furnace was accidentally turned off which cost me $129. Mark agreed to reimburse me but they must have forgotten.

Andrew M. Best plumber in the Dayton area. Ask for him if you can. He did all he could to get my drain working quickly. Showed up early and got everything working perfectly. He reviewed my options for a future upgrade. Best service I've ever had.

It was extensive and expensive but I was pleased with their work. Their cost was competitive compared to Roto Rooter who also gave me an estimate. I thought that the gentleman doing the estimate was more straightforward. Unlike with Roto Rooter, he did not get a condition on the work. they did a good job. They did it when they said they would do it and they got it done within the expected time frame.

Ed from Ben Franklin Plumbing was on time, and very professional. Rather than clearing the clog by removing the cap on the pipe, he actually cut the pipe, augered out the drain, then placed a fitting on the pipe. This will allow me to fix a clog the next time it happens myself. When there was confusion regarding the price of the service call, Ed called Angie's list to make sure the pricing was right, and we both understood it. I appreciate him doing this, ensuring I was satisfied with the pricing. I would highly recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing, and Ed in particular. d

They did a great job. Scoped the pipes, identified the back up point, and cleared things out.

It was not very good. They didn't actual do a whole lot. It was kind of like a reap off but it didn't actually seem that the price of the service was going to be so high and there was no way that I was going to go with them.

"the address we serviced was not the one listed above. However, our technician did indeed arrive for the named individual above at [Member information removed] and provide pricing up front. Which was declined. We believe that a misunderstanding occurred as to what the Angie's list deal provided. It seems that our client misunderstood that ALL work would be covered by her deal. We find that occasionally Angie's clients have this misunderstanding, which creates frustration for our clients."

"It is true that we prefer to provide garbage disposals. We strive to be the gold standard in service plumbing. Hence we carry only professional grade units that are not available at the big box discount outlets. Our warranties are outstanding. We will install client provided fixtures and appliances, while our workmanship is warrantied, we cannot warranty those items provided by our clients. Our labor costs reflect the quality of the company and our technicians. Our labor only costs in this instance was more than the deal they bought through Angie's, and that they would pay the difference. I am convinced that when some of the folks signed up for the Angie's List deal, they believed that what they spent would cover all the work that they wanted done. Many, like this customer, was surprised and frustrated when they learned other wise."

Response from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing

"Thank you so much for raising this concern, since the true value of the service provided, saved thousands of dollars to your father. Let me explain, as I did over the phone to you during the initial call. The shower valve has a pressure balancing spool that is responsible for preventing scalding in the event of sudden pressure or volume changes. i.e. someone flushes a toilet during a shower. In this case the shower pressure balance device had failed due to mineral build up. Normally they are a sealed device which requires replacement. This particular device is imported from overseas. When the device cannot be acquired, the entire valve must be replaced resulting in opening the backside of the shower wall. In some cases, like this one, opening the wall was not an option. Going in through the front of the tile wall to replace the valve is also costly. Requiring removal of wall tiles, then to restore the tile surface to match, almost impossible in some cases. As a result of those physical conditions, the best option was to remove the failed pressure balance cartridge, carefully dismantle a sealed cartridge (at the risk of not being able to reassemble), hence leaving your father with no water until a new cartridge could be acquired. The time in the vehicle plotting was the time required to dismantle, carefully descale the balancing pistons, reassemble and reinstall. As you know, the shower works fine and is still working well. The service provided went above and beyond what an average service tech would have offered, and the price was fair. No walls were damaged, nor further work required. We truly appreciate your business and look forward to providing service in the future. Edwin Wright General Manager, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing"

If you are female do not use these people, I expressed my concern over their $79.00 service fee and I was told I could trust them. Big mistake they came and gave me an estimate that was about $600.00 too high just to replace a kitchen sink and faucet. This is exactly what I new would happen. So because I didn't have the work done I had to pay the $79.00 charge. I was told by other perfessionals this at the most was a $300.00 job. So story goes got ripped off again out $79.00 and no new sink. Beware ladies just another company that treats us like idiots. I received a second quote later that day for $252.00 to do the same work. Beware is all I can say. The only good thing is they were on time (to rip you off)
