I had Bakers Resurfacing glaze our cast iron bath tub. To be fair to them I will say that once done it looked brand new. He even went as far as to clean the drain hardware which also turned out like new. I was informed that it came with a five year warranty against defects and workmanship. It has been several years now and has started to blister and peel on the bottom and a few places on the sides. I contacted them and was quickly informed that there would be no warranty coverage. I sent the some pictures showing the blistering and peeling. I was informed that the peeling was in fact chips caused by “customer caused damage”. I asked how I could have caused chips. Their reply was, “I must have dropped something on it”. The only thing that has ever been dropped on it was a bar of soap or an occasional plastic shampoo bottle. Even if something had dropped on it how do you explain the blistering? After speaking with them twice they made it very clear that they would not honor any warranty. All I got was endless excuses as to why they were not going to honor their warranty. They even went as far as to say that I had not given them a copy of the invoice or invoice number. Of course I had not done so yet, I was starting the process with a phone call. When I asked if they would honor their warranty after I provide to them a copy, they just went back to the customer caused damage excuse (still not sure how I caused blistering). I calmly explained that I was going to make this post which infuriated them to the point they started sending me text messages cautioning me not to in a menacing manor stopping short of making physical threats (I still have them). I strongly encourage you to shop around for a larger company with a track record of honoring their warranty. This company has 6 reviews. 3 of which were years ago and 3 more recent. All of which were posted immediately after the resurfacing; none as a follow up a year or two later. There are many companies out there that do this type of work. Find someone else.
Response from Baker Resurfacing
"At this point, I'm fairly certain that Baker Resurfacing has never done work for this individual. When he called the office demanding that we repair his bathtub, he refused to give his name, address, date of work or invoice number. However, while posting this review, he was prompted to give his address, date of work and a cost of the project. Baker Resurfacing never did a job at his address on or around the date given, and we have never resurfaced a bathtub for that price. Virtually every aspect of his review is untrue. Baker Resurfacing has dozens of reviews throughout the internet that speak to the exceptional level of quality and customer service that our clients have enjoyed throughout the years. Some are old, some are new, but all of our reviewers have been 100% satisfied with their experience with us. Even if Baker Resurfacing did resurface his bathtub, damage caused by a customer's neglect is not covered under our warranty. All of our residential customers receive a written 5 year warranty, that covers anything material or workmanship related. From the pictures that he sent me, it's clear that the damage was caused by a dropping object. Regardless of if it's a brand new cast iron tub or a resurfaced one, all bathtubs can be chipped by falling objects. It is unfortunate that this gentleman has decided to maliciously slander the hard working members of Baker Resurfacing, because we refused to provide him with a free service. However, his words can not change the fact that Baker Resurfacing has, and will continue to, provide the Dayton area with the highest quality work, and best customer service imaginable."

The job was extra work because someone had tried to resurface the tub and had done it incorrectly ,leaving a lot of extra product for Vince to remove in the restoration. There were several layers of old product ,peeling ugly and we had no idea it could be restored after such a bad attempt previously by another company. He had to work an extra day to do the work and even worked on a Sunday to finish. Vince was exceptionally tidy prepping for and during the work, friendly, professional, knowledgeable. For the work involved, the price was very fair. I highly recommend Baker Resurfacing and we love our bath tub, it looks brand new! better than we could have expected.Call him anytime with questions or concerns before and after the project, he is very personable and timely.

Mr. Baker did a superb job of resurfacing our bathtub. It is now perfect, gloss white and ready to use. Replacing the tub would have been too much of an undertaking. I am very pleased with the results from Baker Refinishing.

Very pleasant, courteous young man knew what he was doing.  My 62-year-old tub is like new.  Complete coverage.  I have really old chrome drain fixtures that I did not want to remove, so he worked around that by taping and there are no gaps in the surface.

Technician arrived at scheduled appointment time. He was very professional and completed the job as described on their website. I had previously installed a new cover for the drain stop lever, incorrectly, and he even fixed that! The process takes two days and the second day went just as advertised and the tub was ready for use later that day. The tub looks brand new and their service comes with a 5 yr guarantee. Highly recommend this alternative if you don't want to replace your tub.

Absolutely love the reglazed tiles, and so do all of our guests when we show it off to them.  The reglazing process took a couple days, but everything went smoothly and professionally.
He told us that if we want to remove the shower door, he could fill the holes in the tile that were left at no additional cost, which we took him up on.
I have no idea if the amount we paid was high or low, for reglazing.  It was much cheaper than retiling, but we never shopped around for other reglazing contractors.  I just say this to be complete - we have no problems with what we paid.

He is very responsive, very business-like, very clean, no nonsense and gets the job done right. He?s really good! You can?t tell the tub has been refinished when he is done. He also does ceramic tile if you don?t like the color and he guarantees his work. He?s well worth the money. He is a perfectionist and very professional.

We were really pleased with the job that was done.  It blends perfectly with the rest of the tub that wasn't resurfaced.  It looks great and the texture with make the tub safer for us as well.  What really impressed us as well was that we had made an appointment for the entire tub to be resurfaced, not knowing that it was even possible to just do the floor of the tub.  We were impressed with their honesty and not going ahead and doing the entire tub.  Additionally, we had booked a January appointment which was the first they could provide us.  When they had a cancellation, they called and fit our job into the opening so we got the work done sooner.  We were totally pleased and would recommend to anyone needing their service.

Our 1930s house has the original tile flooring in our bathroom, and after discussing what to do with our tub with several plumbers, it sounded like we'd be risking our tile if we tried to remove our heavy tub... The tub, however, was in sad, sad shape. Someone had done an epoxy refinishing at some point that was yellowing, peeling and bubbling. After doing some research, I located Baker Resurfacing (Thanks, Angie's List!), who seemed to have better reviews and their process included etching which when speaking with some remodeling experts, sounded like a key step, and it's not an epoxy they use
I called Vince in early November. He got back to me within a day, and offered me the day after Thanksgiving as his first available. We agreed on the Monday after instead:) He arrived promptly at 8 AM - our agreed scheduled time, and did his work within the 6 hours he had told me (I believe it's only 4 hours when the tub doesn't need to be stripped first). He completely covered our surfaces in the bathroom so nothing else got sprayed, laid down a tarp outside the bathroom so he didn't bring any thing out onto our family room/hall floor when exiting the bathroom and provided an exhauster vent that he ran from our bathroom out the front window to reduce the smell/vapors. It DID smell - especially during the last 2 hours of the process - kind of a nail polish smell. If you can be on another floor, I would be, it gave me a headache after awhile.
Since we only have 1 bathroom, when he finished for the day, he uncovered our toilet and our sink so we could at least partially use our bathroom. The smell was strong all night - we left the door shut and slept on a different floor. Vince returned the following morning to do the finishing work. Again, he arrived right on time and did his work within the hour and a half he had told me. Since he had removed the trim on the tub, he'd usually put it back on at this time - but our plumber was following Vince to replace the entire shower/tub set for us with new pieces, so this step was skipped for us. He did beautifully re-caulk around the tub edge, clean up all of his spaces and materials, and then all that was left was to pay the bill. It was exactly how much he had told me... $125 for the stripping portion, $299 for the refinishing portion, and tax... so our grand total came to just over $450.
Time will tell how it holds up - but it looks GORGEOUS right now.

The work was done on my Dad's house that we are getting ready to list.  No one is living in the house and it was done while no one was there.  When I returned after the work was completed there was no evidence that anyone had been there except for the work itself.  That is to say, they cleaned up exceptionally well after themselves.  The work was completed about three weeks ahead of the agreed upon schedule, and the workmanship was excellent.
The only minor issue I had was that some paint pealed off from where they had put the masking tape.  It was explained to me up front that this might happen to newly painted surfaces and I was warned not to paint prior to their work.  Unfortunately, due to scheduling constraints, I had to have the kitchen painted just prior to their work, and this is where some of the pealing took place.  However some pealing took place in the bathrooms as well where it had not been painted for over two years.  The suggestion is that they make the homeowner aware of this possibility as well.  For me it was a matter of minor touch up since i had some leftover paint.  For someone else it might not be so minor if they have a problem matching the paint.
One last thing.  I believe it is a tribute to their confidnece in the quality of their work, that no up front deposit was requested, and payment was requested and provided after the work was completed.

Vince came out in March and gave me an estimate and we scheduled him to come out in July when we were getting ready to sell our house.  He arrived when he said he would, did what he said he would and charged what he said he would.  He even did some extra work for us (removing our old toilet and vanity) for no extra charge.
His work was top of the line.  Truly a gorgeous transformation.  We could not be happier and will use him again and recommend him highly.

Owner/operator provided the service. He came on time, put down protective coverings, set up exhaust and went to work in a professional manner.  He was very thorough and did a great job. Unfortunately, I am reporting this a year after the work was actually done.  For that reason, I do not remember the price or any details of the procedure very accurately.  But I do recall being thoroughly impressed by the quality of the work and his professionalism.  And a year later, it looks as good as the day it was done.  This was my first use of Angie's List and it made me wonder why I hadn't signed up sooner.

There was this one gentleman who was just the nicest person, very professional and he took time to answer our questions. He explained to us exactly what he was gonna do and how long it would take. He was very prompt and did an excellent job. Looking at from what the tub was till after he was done with it, it looked like we had a new tub installed. He cleaned up so well. I would definitely give them a 10 plus rating and would definitely recommend them to anybody. He was above and beyond the call of duty. it was just a fantastic job. In fact, he did a couple of extra things for us that he didn't have to do, my husband asked him to do some things but he didn't even charge us for it. He was just excellent all the way around.

Baker resurfacing did a great job. The employee showed up on time, got the work done, cleaned up after himself, and did the same thing the next day he came back to finish. He even was able to point out a leak that we had in our pipes that we did not know about. He probably saved us from a major disaster! The price was very reasonable and our tub is fantastic. I would definitely recommend using them.
Only negative thing I have to say is that they are very busy and we had to make an appointment about a month in advance. Having said that, it was certainly worth the wait!
