We called after searching Angie's List for a funeral home in the Dayton area. We drove to Dayton, called BH&S and got an appointment that afternoon. We met with Abby Snider and she was amazing:  sensitive, respectful, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. None of us had arranged a cremation and we couldn't have done it without her. The cremation itself was just under $1200, which we thought was very reasonable. They kept us informed and were available to answer any questions that we had. No one tried to upsell or talk us into anything. They were only there to help and provide the services we wanted. It was a difficult event and BH&S made it easier for us to handle.

They picked up very quickly after they were called. We met at their office the next morning to discuss our needs, which was direct cremation. The funeral director, Rick Snider, was very compassionate, professional and to our amazement, didn't try to upsell us on any frills or upgrade (we had prepared ourselves for that). We wanted direct cremation with nothing else and we were accorded the same level of respect and kindness as we assume others who spent many thousands more. Their prices were the best by far for direct cremation (due to their own attached crematory on site) and we had checked at a few area funeral homes. They took care of the death notice, paperwork and certificates very quickly and efficiently and everything was ready on time. When we went to pick up, the ashes were contained very nicely in a box with a nice engraved brass tag on it. The box was treated very respectfully and we were very grateful for that. Nice honest people. Still family-owned and local. Highly recommend them.
