Construction drive seemed adequate, builder had no issues. Quoted 8 hours for excavation, went over by 4 hours, so builder had us pay the difference, this should have been first red flag. Over billed by approximately 3 times his quote for soil removal. He had the gaul to attempt to explain it to us, I suppose thinking we were morons. He stated, you never know, sometimes there's just more dirt in the hole than you planned for. 30 seconds on the internet and I found a excavation calculator that gave exact value to within 5% of his final number. The overcharge was blatant, but to add insult to injury we had a couple of landscapers quote to install the lawn, all state about 20 yards of dirt, PLUS 30 yards of topsoil! So now I get to pay to have the dirt brought back that he removed. The over charge was significant, over $3000 more than we expected. When we asked for a compromise, he was not willing, stated his charges were fair.
