Hummel Funeral Home & Crematories

My elderly dog died at home and I didn't know what to do with his body.  I was in the process of rushing him to Akron Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital for an emergency ultrasound on a Friday night.  He died before I could get him in the car.  I called AMVH back and asked them what I should do.  They recommended that I bring his body there and that I could choose from a variety of companies and services.  I knew that I wanted private cremation services and chose Hummel.  I called the Hummel phone number around 11:30pm on a Friday night to contract with them and tell them my dogs remains were at AMVH. I left a message.  My phone call was promptly returned and I was told that his remains would be picked up the following morning.  Approximately one week later I returned to pick up the cremains at AMVH (or I could have picked them up at Hummel Pet Services as well).  I was presented with a sealed tin with the cremains, a plaster mold of his paw print and a lock of his fur.  I felt that they treated my pet with the love and dignity that I expected and needed.

They were wonderful. They knew who the immediate family members were and no matter what we asked they took care of it from the temperature in the room, the music they were playing or how to take care of the flower arrangements after the service. They were so helpful and courteous. They went out of their way to make sure it was the way we wanted it and if it wasn't they made it the way we wanted it. They were wonderful. They also had an in house florist that they work with. This woman works out of her home and she did two arrangements and they were just beautiful.
