They did a good job. We just moved in and we have a refrigerator that is too big, they resize the space to fit the refrigerator, the did the counter tops and repainted the cabinets.

It took about 6 weeks to completely transform our basement, which was only used for storage, into a spacious family room with 55" tv mounted on the wall, a beautiful kitchenette with cupboards, microwave, mini refrigerator, sink and countertop, canned lights installed in unfinished ceiling, 2 large storage areas and a fitness room with tv installed on wall. They installed a new door at the top of the stairs and extended the walls on each side all the way down the stairs with a handrail on each side. They created a closet with a door around the 2 sump pumps and installed lights in the closets and storage areas, one of which has our furnace and laundry room. We also had 7 new windows installed with full screens. The walls of the finished areas were all insulated. The crew members were friendly and eager to please and made a big fuss over my dog, Pixie, who wanted attention each time someone came up the stairs. I did request some changes to the original plan and the crew members were patient and understanding.

The final results were terrific. The job took longer than expected. The price was as expected - we expected a premium for the quality of their work. We had used Wingler before and was pleased with that previous job.

The sales rep who came to our home to provide a quote was highly unprofessional and showed a complete lack of respect. I truly felt he simply just didn't want our business because he thought we couldn't afford it and he didn't want to waste his time From the moment he walked into our home, he pretty much told us we couldn't afford to finish our basement- but was quick to tell us he does over a million dollars in sales each year. His rough estimates were well above any other quote we received (20K+ for a wet bar- and the rough in's already exist- come on). . He immediately asked if we'd received other quotes and wanted to know how much others wanted- I found this a completely unprofessional way of starting a conversation about the project we needed completed. He provided a book with samples of Wingler's work, but only two photos were of basements; a pretty poor showing for a company that has completed "hundreds of basements". He indicated they finish basements all the time, but at one point contradicted himself by stating "we really focus on kitchens and baths"- again, making me feel like he just didn't want our business. He offered to "run numbers" and get back to us with a follow-up appointment on March 9th, but never called back or followed up on his promise. We never would have gone with a bid even if he had followed up simply based on how uncomfortable he made us feel during the initial visit. Ultimately, we found a great contractor to finish our basement and our very happy we didn't stop with Wingler. In short, there's a major lesson here for at least one Wingler sales rep: DON'T- judge a book by its cover. You never know which potential customers will turn around and pay someone else in cash for their work.
Response from Wingler Construction & Remodeling

"Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I am truly sorry that you felt disrespected and I would like to extend an apology to you on behalf of the sales representative and Winger Construction. Perhaps the sales representatives attempt to give you an upfront, no hidden fees cost was perceived as condescending and passive, however I assure you that we pride ourselves on being professional and honest about our pricing. Unfortunately, I cannot speak to other companies/contractors quotes on your project because there is so much variation in the quality of products offered throughout the industry. Wingler Construction has been in business for 57 years and we use only the highest of quality materials which allows us to provide a lifetime warranty of the majority of our products. High quality products will dramatically affect the cost of a project. We have finished an abundance of basements in the decades that we have been in business, but we are known predominately for kitchen and bath remodels. I am happy to hear that you were able to complete your project and I hope you and your family enjoy your new basement. Sincerely, Wingler Construction"

Very well. And as with my previous kitchen remodel with Wingler, any concerns I had were addressed. They were very responsive to my questions. If something was not exactly what I expected; their mottos were "we will make it right" and "we're not hsppy until you are happy".

The sales consultant was rude and unprofessional, asking us within minutes of being in our home, if Wingler Construction was the right company for us, without providing any information about the company's merit or ability. He told us Wingler Construction provides one total price for the job, no breakdown for individual parts (cabinets, countertops, etc). The sales consultant was condescending, and seemed to have decided that we could not afford a kitchen renovation. He showed us one page of this 5inch showcase binder that mid-range kitchen remodels go for ~$60,000 and high-end kitchen remodel ~$112,000. After a very short & rough sales call, we collectively decided that Wingler Construction was not the company for us. I spoke with Don Wingler, the owner of Wingler Construction, he apologized for the sales consultant's behavior. He expressed regret that we were left with a poor impression of his company because of the rude sales consultant.

Excellent, very professional team. From sales to installers all were very friendly and very helpful. Bottom line is, they did exactly what they said they were going to do. The shower turned out perfect, and exactly what we wanted.

The provider worked very hard and produced high quality results.  The biggest challenge was timing and scheduling, the job ran well past the commitment date.  This is due in large part to the job being much bigger and complex than what I believe the have done in the past.

The house looks awesome.....simply awesome.....just ask the neighbors!!!
From the start, Wingler worked with me. Bill Tittle did an excellent job in providing both the technical details of the doors and siding as well as the aesthetics.  Bill visited the home at least five times during the Christmas vacation to ensure that we were comfortable with the type of doors and color selections.  He also worked with us to ensure the project within our budget.  He also visited when during the construction to ensure that I was satisfied.
Don Wingler (owner) was great in regard to communication, timing and managing the job overall.  Very easy to talk to.  Additionally, he performed the final quality inspection.  During the final walkthrough, I expressed that I should have had the three pillars moved in the front as well as added additional battens on the top apex as accents.  Although it would require additional work, Don (without reservation), offered to do both several times even though the job was complete.
The Wingler crew was GREAT!  They were very respectful of my property and tried to do as little damage as possible to the lawn and landscaping.  One thing that really impressed me was that instead of installing the underlayment and siding over the existing stucco and trim, Wingler decided to remove the stucco/trim to avoid any wavy appearance of the siding and to ensure a more secure installation.  This was a lot of work that was not in the original plans and no cost increase was passed onto me.  This reassured me of the Wingler's quality and attention to detail.  As the worked progressed, there were sections of the house that required unexpected work due to slight amount of rotting.  Harry (foreman) remedied everything I requested (without cost) and even installed fascia trim boards that was my responsibility.   Harry was VERY patient in our daily discussions of the front three posts offering several really great suggestions.
Rick (doors) installed all the outside the fascia trim (again my responsibility) prior to the installation of the back door which was very professionally done.  Unfortunately, the inside trim to the front ProVia door was not the exact color match as the door.  D. Wingler, without discussion, ordered a replacement of the trim work.
This is the second job Wingler has performed for me (installation of storm doors/basement windows on new home ~1992).  I would definitely recommend Wingler Construction for any of your remodeling needs and will certainly use them in the future.

Thanks again."

Sub-contractor performed the flooring work and Wingler contractors re-installed our toilet, added matching shoe molding, and caulking.

Had difficulties in scheduling between the sub-contractor and Production Manager.  Work was estimated to complete in 4-6 weeks, but took 9 weeks due to laying the flooring a 2nd time and repeated reschedules by the sub-contractor.

Wingler resources were polite and thoroughly answered my questions.

We contacted them for an estimate on Thursday. Advised they would be here on Saturday at 10:00. They called about 8:30 on Saturday morning and left message on voice mail. Stated someone had double booked them. We called and rescheduled for later in the day at 3:30.

We received a text message, cancelling the 3:30, asking to reschedule for Monday. Obviously not dependable keeping appointments, so I have doubts about their work. We texted them back and let them know we weren't interested in their company.

Response from Wingler Construction & Remodeling

"We do apologize for the inconvenience. A mistake was made that caused a double booking, which resulted in the time being changed. Then our Sales rep had a personal emergency that made it impossible for him to make the rescheduled time. We feel terrible for the confusion, and we do apologize for the inconvenience this caused to you. This is definitely not how we do business. We do wish you the best in getting your remodeling project done, and if there is any way that we can help you in the future, please do not hesitate to give us a call."

A sales person came out and review the project and do a rough drawing.  He set up a second appointment to review the quote and then a third appointment to review the quote with my husband.  We were excited about the plans and wanted to move forward with the project.  However, we did not hear from the company for two to three weeks when a voice mail was left saying they were not interested in such a small project ($12k).  Very poor communication and very unprofessional since they made the first contact.  I would not ever go with this company and would not suggest anyone else give them the time of day.  They are only interested in very large projects which was not stated in the beginning.

"Thank you for taking the time to give us this review on Angie's List. Feedback from customers such as you helps us to improve our company. We try very hard to provide the very best service to all of our customers. Occaisionally, a project comes along that we feel that we may not be able to provide the very best quality job. In those very rare instances, we sometimes decline a project. We are very sorry if we caused a delay in your searching out other companies to do your project. In any case, thank you for the opportunity to review your project, and we wish you the very best on your project."

He was good. He was on time. He put the things and gave us an estimate. So, he did everything he should do. He did do quite well. He showed up when he said he'd show up and then gave us an estimate. The guy was personable, friendly and seemed to know what he was doing. We had had work done probably about 10 years ago by them. They put our roof on which was one of the reasons we were checking with them. They did a good job then so that's the reason we went back to check them out again.

Went well. He showed up on time and I believe they offer a very good product. The only drawback was that the price was more than my mother could afford who is on a fixed income. If she was more financially sound and price was not so much an issue, she probably would have chosen these windows. Based on the current value of her home ($77K) the expensive windows did not make sense to purchase because she could not recoup much of the cost if she sold the house. If her home were worth say $250K, then these windows would make more sense. Overall the guy was very nice.

We were pleased with how it turned out. The vanity and sink top were custom made, and the quality of it is good. Kyle did all of the installation, and it was a pleasure working with him. He kept us informed through out the day on the progress of the job and he was polite and respectful. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that they don't paint. They guarantee their work, but would have to contract out for the painting, and they couldn't guarantee that. I can understand it, but we had to hire someone else to paint. Overall, we were pleased with the job Wingler did.
