Widow's Helper

Hired Craig to do deck repair and deck painting. It was so incredibly bad that I had to stop him and fire him before he could do anymore damage. He literally cut deck board too short and cut another small piece and tried to fill it in. He used a reciprocating saw to cut off posts, they were jagged and not even flat and then he used deck boards which are rounded on the edges to build a ledge around the bench. Wha, What? round to square edge butted up together. unbelievable! He was supposed to level some stairs and he just propped a spare piece of wood under the wrong side and made it worse. Cut stairs planks too short and just left it that way. Oh, he used 2x6 deck planks for the ledge when he was supposed to use 2x8s and then just used a reciprocating saw to cut diagonally the post section that was supposed to be covered by the ledge and of course it was jagged and a butch job. I literally had to tear out everything he did and redo it. Avoid at all cost!! Paid him $500 to just leave

It went great! He was on time and did what he was supposed to do. He worked efficiently and I would recommend him to others.

Overall, he did a good job. It was a hard job, he had to take the cabinets off the wall and move them further up in order to install a microwave over a stove. He was on-time and arrived at the scheduled date. I would recommend him.

I called on Friday, and Craig agreed to come on Monday. I described the problem, and we agreed on a price. He called an hour before the appointment to tell me he was held up on another job and he would be half an hour late. That was OK with me. He called again to say he was on the way. He got to work immediately. He showed me the finished job, and it looked great.

Craig was on time and did a good job.  He is also scheduled to do other repairs for me around the home.

We were told it would take 3 days to complete the project. It actually took closer to 10 days. After which drywall was hung incorrectly and crooked. Nothing was sanded down. Used incorrect material to case the window. Door frame material was not cut or measured correctly. He attempted to (sloppily) glue wood door frame  pieces together (which clearly did not fit). We had to pay anther contracted to re-do the sloppy work that was done. I have never in my life ever written a negative review of anything. The work performed was poor and sloppy, I couldn't let anyone else waste their hard earned money on such poor work. I would NEVER recommend Widow's helper to anyone!

It went great. Craig was punctual and professional and got everything done right ans in a timely manner.

It went well. He purchased and installed the door when he said that he would.

He did a really good. He was prompt and followed through. He did exactly what he said he would.

Craig was excellent; prompt and prepared for the job. He did good work, we are happy with the results.

He arrived on time. He used foot protectors to protect my carpeting. He quickly changed the battery, tested it, and then he was done. He took about 15 minutes.

He was great. He did a good job, he was prompt, and punctual.

Craig was very helpful and curtious. He did a great job and have not had any problems since.

Called Craig early one day and he was out at 6am the next. He put everything back together and reinforced the other trim pieces. Pleasant to work with.

First, he didn't have the proper tools. Even though I told him before hand what I was needing done and what type of work.
Then after he made a run to the local hardware store to get the correct tools he messed up two doors and had to
Go buy replacements. He cut the first door wrong then hung another (didn't line up)
Then cut the last door wrong AGAIN. By this time he had been here way to long for the
Type of work he was doing 8+ hours, I finally told him to just leave the door as is and I would
Fix it myself. At this point I just wanted him out of the house before anything else went wrong.
I would not recommend him for doors. He may be better or a specialty at another craftsmanship
But surely not this project. I even called him before hand to make sure he knew how to hand doors. If he had said that's not his specialty but could do it then I might have understood the poor quality of workmanship.

He did a good job with all of the various services that I needed. He was very focused, skilled, and offered creative solutions.

He did not repair or paint all the window sills my husband thought he'd done when he paid him (unfortunately) for the 3-4 hours work. He did replace the wood on one window sill and made the sill much wider than it was originally. I questioned this decision and he gave some lame excuse that it covered up some other issue underneath it (I looked there was nothing there to cover up). On the rest of the window sills / edges he simply used caulk and painted over the caulk instead of replacing the wood. (He had done a similar job on an interior window that I told him and my husband (why he called him back I'll never understand) I wanted Craig to fix. It looks like the worst mess you can imagine. That atrocity was never fixed. After he left I walked around to all the sills (main level and upstairs) and I had to paint 3 window sills he did not (and my husband had asked him to do). I threatened my husband that if he ever allowed Craig back in the house there would be big trouble. On one of his first visits he was hired to repair the front porch area that is brick. Some of the bricks mortar had come loose. Our house was about to be shown several days later. The mortar (if that is what he used) never dried. The first 20 showings people had to walk around that step that lead directly into the front door and he had to put a 'caution ~ steps being repaired'. What an awful way to be introduced to a house. He did come back eventually and re-mortared it but it still looks awful.
He's just a sloppy handyman. Seems like a nice person but his work sadly is very shoddy and it took him days to return to fix what he'd either missed or screwed up.

Craig did a great job, going above and beyond my expectations, especially with the screen porch and the side entry door. Using an Angie's Deal, I had purchased a block of time for a flat fee. I left Craig a list of things to do and when there was some time left over, he did a little more (i.e. fixing another screen on the porch, other than the one I had asked about, and putting some paint on the screen door). This was not the case with a previous handyman service that I purchased through an Angie's List deal - when they did the minimum that I had asked, they left, even though it didn't take them the full 3 hrs.
There was a problem - Craig misread the instructions I left and installed the hinges on the wrong gate, but when I called him about it late that afternoon, he came back that same evening and fixed what he was supposed to have, without asking for more money. I really appreciated his integrity.
While he was there and I was home, I asked him about a problem I had with the side entry door, being out of alignment, figuring I would have him come back another day to fix it. Craig looked it over, spotted the real problem right away, and fixed it then and there, for just a nominal fee. Again, wonderful. Thanks, Craig.

After some difficulty (due to weather) scheduling a time for the service, we agreed upon April 3rd. Craig called me the day before and the morning of our appointment to let me know he was on his way. Upon arrival, Craig did a wonderful job accomplishing the various repairs I needed around the house. He was professional, friendly, detail oriented and efficient. The price was reasonable, so I definitely plan on calling Craig again when needing some repairs around the house
