Total Worthington Locksmith

Mr. Hott arrived on time. He installed two adjustable strike plates that I can supposedly change to accommodate the swelling of the doorjamb in summer. I asked why he didn't install these in the first place. He said he was trying to save me money. I would have been happier if he had given me the option before installing the other type of plate. These new plates are still giving us some problems. The door has to be shut pretty firmly prior to locking it, and must be pushed open once it's unlocked. This isn't what I had bargained for. It cost me an additional $53.90 to install these adjustable locks. Mr. Hott told me to let him know if I have any further problems. I'm not inclined to do so even though I've spent so much money on them. I originally called him as his company had installed my front door locks without a problem last year. He didn't personally do the work on that occasion. If he couldn't fix this particular lock, then he should've been honest enough to say so and not waste my money. He did replace the key that was ruined at no charge.

It went well. Mr. Hott and his son were running a bit late, so they called to let me know they were on the way. They had to drill new holes for the handle/lock set I bought. They also deepened the hold in the door jamb to accommodate the new deadbolt. The new handle didn't cover the wood in all the same spots as the old one, so Mr. Hott advised me to stain the exposed parts or use a varnish crayon. They cleaned up after the work and were polite, friendly and professional the whole time. They answered all my questions. Because I scheduled this appointment within 30 days of their previous work on this door, they didn't charge me for the service call. They gave me a small discount when I asked about Angie's List.

It's hard to know how well the work was done. He didn't leave behind the box that the lock came in, so I don't really know the brand name or the quality of the lock. The lock works properly, and the lock re-keying works with our original key.

He told us one of the doors had to be ordered and my husband paid him up front and then he refused to come back, and then it took him several weeks and we even had to threaten to report him to the BBB if he did not return.

The work was done quickly and timely, but they double billed us - made us pay on the spot with a credit card and then invoiced us. Because we're an organization, two people ended up paying (the accountant and the person on-site with the locksmith). Two months later, Worthington Locksmith refuses to refund our money. They have lied and told us the check is in the mail, they have made excuses about the owner's wife being in surgery and continue to evade us. They state they have no office currently.

I called after two weeks, and the vendor said he was very busy and would need the trunk for another week. I keep calling each week, as the vendor never called despite promises to do so. The vendor told me that the lock on the trunk was very difficult and that he needed more time. After 5 1/2 weeks, I decided to pick up the trunk. The lock was partly open, but the vendor said he could not do more. I subscribed to Angie's list. I called a few "A" rated locksmiths on the list who carefully questioned me about the lock (name on lock, numbers, etc.), then they referred me to a antique locksmith. Unfortunately, this vendor visibly bent the lock beyond repair while attempting to force the lock. The new locksmith was quickly able to open the lock, but the damage had already been done. If this locksmith had admitted his inability to work on the lock, I would still have my grandparent's antique trunk, undamaged.

DISASTER! Sent sub contractor to my house...never identified as such. Incompetent work and has failed to correct the work. Also has failed to return many telephone calls. Would NEVER recommend them. Feel that they practice substandard and deceptive business.

Overall, the technician (Don) who came was friendly and very helpful. He explained everything that was wrong with our locks & doors as well as what he was doing to correct the problems. My only complaint was that he arrived about 1-1/2 hours later than my appointment, and the company did not call me to tell me that he would be late. I had to call them several times. It sounded as though this scheduling snag might have been an unusual case. I did get a discount after asking if the company was listed with Angie's.

We had locked ourselves out of our house. Every locksmith we had called wanted us to leave a message, and that wouldn't have been any good. This was the only one that picked up, so I was grateful that we got an actual person. They did tell us it would be an hour and a half, and it took them 2 hours. When we called them back, they said "oh, they're not there yet? We'll get someone out in 20 minutes." They did get someone out in 20 minutes though. There was obviously no system to make sure the worker got there. I mentioned this to him, and I think they took $10 off of our cost.

They got here promptly, they did good work, and were reasonably priced.

The locks have never been this smooth before and the repairs were completed real fast.

ON TIME, CALLED BEFORE COMING. NICE SERVICE TECH.

THE GUY THAT REKEYED THE DOORS DID A GREAT JOB UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. HE WAS DOING IT ALL ON MY MOVE IN DAY. SO THE DOORS THAT HE WAS REKEYING WERE OFF THE HINGES SO THE MOVERS COULD BRING IN THE FURNITURE. HE DID A GREAT JOB. AFTER THE DOORS WERE PUT BACK ON ONE OF THE DOORS LOCKS WAS LOOSE. THIS WAS DUE TO THE LOCKS BEING CHANGED ON A DOOR NOT ON THE HINGES. THE GUY CAME BACK OUT FOR FREE AND FIXED THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. GREAT TO DEAL WITH.

THEY WERE A BIT SLOW TO RETURN MY PHONE CALLS BUT THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND GOT THINGS RE-KEYED QUICKLY. THEY WERE NOT THE NICEST LOOKING OR THE CLEANEST BUT THEY GOT THE JOB DONE.

NELSON WAS VERY POLITE AND HELPFUL.

THE WORK ON THE LOCKS WAS FINE. THEY DID NOT EXPLAIN THE PRICING STRUCTURE OVER THE PHONE SO THAT I COULD MAKE AN ACCURATE COMPARISON WITH OTHER COMPANIES. THE JOB WAS MORE EXPENSIVE WHEN THEY CAME TO PERFORM THE WORK. THE WORKER WAS DEFENSIVE WHEN I BROUGHT THIS MATTER UP TO HIM. HE ALSO TOOK 1/2 HR LONGER THAN ESTIMATE. HE ALSO WENT OUT TO HIS TRUCK FOR 1/2 HOUR WITHOUT ADVISING WHY HE HAD LEFT OR WHEN HE WOULD RETURN. I WOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDERING HIRING OTHER COMPANIES FIRST.

SHOWED UP ON TIME, VERY PROFESSIONAL, AND DID A GOOD JOB. WOULD RECOMMEND.

THE LOCK WAS STICKING (NOT RETRACTING ENTIRELY) SO THAT I WAS AFRAID EVEN TO USE IT, FEARING THAT I COULDN'T UNLOCK THE DOOR AGAIN! I CALLED AT NOON. THE LOCKSMITH, NELSON, ARRIVED PROMPTLY AT 12:30. HE WENT BACK TO HIS SHOP TO OBTAIN THE CORRECT LATCH. HE RETURNED BY 2:00 PM TO FINISH THE JOB. NELSON WAS EFFICIENT AND COURTEOUS. HE CHARGED $55 FOR ONE SERVICE CALL, $18 FOR THE LATCH HARDWARE, AND $13 TO REASSEMBLE THE LOCK FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $86.00. VERY REASONABLE!

THEY WERE ON TIME, POLITE, AND EFFICIENT. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!

THEY WERE FINE, THEY EVEN CAME ON SATURDAY MORNING. I HAVE USED THEM BEFORE AND WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.

ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!! THE COMPANY INSTALLING THE DOOR DID NOT HAVE EQUIPMENT FOR DRILLING THE HOLE. WORTH LOCKSMITH CAME WITHIN 1 HOUR TO INSTALL THE LOCK THAT I HAD PURCHASED FROM THEM PREVIOUSLY. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO OBTAIN THE DOOR HANDSET I WANTED FROM THEM, WHEN 5 OTHER VENDORS TOLD ME IT WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I HAVE USED WORTHINGTON LOCKSMITH AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. BESIDES THE GOOD WORK AND FAIR PRICES, THEY RESPOND VERY QUICKLY!

WE FELT THEY WERE A BIT PRICEY AND DID NOT INSTILL A CONFIDENCE LEVEL WE WERE COMFORTABLE WITH, ALTHOUGH IN THE END THE LOCKS DO ALL WORK.
