For a recent purchase, I took the car we were interested in buying to Tong-Da, and they were able to perform a pre-purchase inspection. They took note of fluids, tire life, and brake pad remaining life, and I was able to take their report to the car dealer to negotiate the purchase price. I will take my Honda there for the foreseeable future!
Jocelyn is the wife of the husband and wife team that owns Tong Da who works with customers and performs the test drives. She is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
I was totally impressed with the shop and the owner. It is a brand new facility that exceeds EPA standards. Everything is new, clean, and very organized. After taking a tour and getting to know the owner I would notgo anywhere else in Columbus for auto body repair.
There was no communication from them for the entire week. I had to call on Monday to see if I should return the rental car but after an 1 1/2 hours with no return call, I had to call again to be sure the car would be ready to be picked up. I did receive a call on Tue. at 4:00 saying the car would be done, without my calling them.
The price continued to go up - from the original estimate - when I called on Mon. and - when I got there on Tue.
I've learned from this too ask for a written and detailed estimate.
Jocelyn runs her shop exactly the right way - explained pricing up front, never did work without authorization, told me the repair options, and did a good job of keeping me informed as the diagnosis, part availability, and repair progressed. When there was a delay because they had to order the parts and Tom was sick for a day, Jocelyn waved the additional rental car fee and it ended up being much cheaper than if I went with Budget, Avis, or any of the others. In the end, there was a major problem with my timing system that required a lot of time fix so it was pretty costly, but that was due to the severity of the problem and the fact that my car is an Acura.
The bottom line is that these are great people to do business with, they were up front and honest, their service was terrific and their prices were fair. I was planning to buy a BMW 335i as my next car but I have been so happy with my experience I am going to seriously consider a Lexus IS just so I know I have a reliable mechanic when mechanical problems inevitably arise. Thanks again Tom and Jocelyn, I will recommend you to everybody I know that has a Honda or Toyota!
