Top notch all around. Terra Firma was recommended by a family member. The buyer of her home had used them and after she saw the report on her home she wished she had used them herself--she could not believe how thorough they were. Sarah was our inspector and by the time we arrived at our scheduled time she was already there and had begun working. We were buying the property "as-is" and the level of detail included on the report really did a lot to alleviate our concerns. During our final walk through 2 months later, water damage showed up on the interior walls. Sarah came by the next morning (a Sunday) to inspect the water staining and to locate the source of the problem We were first time home buyers and Sarah and Terra Firma really helped to make us feel comfortable in our purchase. I highly recommend.

Terrible.  This guy found the most ridiculous things wrong...clearly looking for leverage for the buyer.  Our home was in good shape, not perfect, but in good shape.  His report included things like a branch touching the side of the house, a few nails pops, one cracked floor tile, and many other issues that really have no bearing on the true value or safety of the home.  AND, he actually caused one of our toilets to leak!!  Nearly everything he found was cosmetic.  The deal fell through, and a new buyer's inspector found very few similar issues, and at least they were ones worth discussing.  The worst home inspector we have ever encountered.

I was a first time home buyer, absolutely clueless as to what I was doing, what I was looking for, what was important to know, how to judge what was a good investment in a home?but clearly *in love* with this gorgeous, historic house that I asked Travis to come inspect.  Travis walked around and made fantastic observations, both about concerns and what needed to be done and how much it would likely cost me, as well as comments reflecting his own obvious love of historic building and his passion for what he does.
Ultimately, Travis asked me about myself and my plans and asked if he could make an honest recommendation.  Based on my life goals, my finances, the neighborhood, and the home itself, he advised me against moving forward with the purchase.  
It hurt so much to hear it at the time (I felt heartbroken! which is some indication of how clouded my vision was by ignorance and emotion), but, in retrospect, I cannot thank Travis enough for his expertise, concern, and generosity.  He was absolutely right: I never would have felt safe or comfortable, I never would have recouped the money I would have had to invest, that house wasn't where I wanted or needed to be.  
I have since purchased a different home (which Travis not only inspected, but proved invaluably helpful with respect to good contractors and sage advice with how to proceed) and I cannot give enough thanks to or acknowledgment of Travis for saving me from making a very costly mistake.  His love of what he does, and his obvious and generous caring for the clients he represents, still awes and gratifies me.  Terra Firma is a shining example of how great a business can be when people are good, honorable, and always do the right thing.
