SKEELES MANUFACTURING INC

We wanted marble-looking quartz countertops (to avoid the maintenance). We checked out 6 other places and, while others had nice products, none were as bright and crisp as the Vicostone that we found at Skeeles. Rebecca was very nice and responsive. The price was right on the mark. They were flexible enough to hold the stone we chose until we installed new cabinets and quickly scheduled the measuring appointment, even around Christmas! The person who did the measuring and the people who did the installation were very nice, explaining to me what they were doing and answering all my questions. And the finished product is gorgeous! I would definitely use them again!

Skeeles installed Cambria countertops in my entire kitchen in 2006. They also installed a stainless steel two compartment sink. 
Three months ago the sink spontaneously dropped out of the counter, creating a cascade of other problems including plumbing and flooring damage.
Approximately two months ago I called Cambria and was told that they had never heard of this issue occurring but that it would pertain to improper installation, possibly incorrect sealant.  (Cambria installation specifications state that "installation is optimized when walls and cabinets are properly prepared for installation" This includes but is not limited to structurally sound, straight level and square walls and cabinets and poor seam fit, or inconsistent overhang and placements.")
I immediately called Skeeles to report the situation. They  sent out an employee the next day who inspected the sink. He said that the anchor site was decayed and they would be out the following week to fix it.
As of today, 7/25/13, I had not heard back from Skeeles. I called  Skeeles today to ask why no one had contacted me to re-anchor my sink. The owner called back an hour later to say that the installation was no longer under warranty (warranty being 12 months from install date). He also said he had never heard of a sink dropping out and that I(?) must have stood in the sink to have  cause this. I said that the sink obviously had not been installed properly to begin with and I had certainly not stood in my sink.My position is that regardless of their installation warranty, the sink had not been installed properly to begin with, whether that be of anchor site, sealant used,etc.. Skeeles position is that I stood in  my sink and caused it to drop out.

It was disappointing overall. We didn't actually choose Skeeles, they were the subcontractor for the place we bought from. We were promised that the counters would be in no later than June 30, and they missed the deadline by four days, which meant burning a lot of money eating out. The measuring process went OK, but there are many flaws with the final product. First, they made the backsplash too big and our electrical outlets above the counter are now partially covered. This would have been easily solved if things were measured correctly. Now it's going to be at least a few hundred dollars to move the outlet boxes. Second, the backsplash on one of the walls isn't flush with the wall behind the sink, which could allow water to get in and cause all sorts of problems. Third, the installers didn't correctly cut the opening for the cooktop. I had to call repeatedly to get them to come back out and fix it. They tried to blame the cabinets, but the problem was that the hole they cut in the counter didn't line up with the hole in the cabinets. The cabinet wasn't hidden or anything, they just didn't take the time to measure properly. The installers had to do some fabrication on site, and they left our driveway a complete mess with wood shavings and even an old jig saw blade! Good thing I caught it before we got a flat tire.
Overall it was frustrating and not a pleasant experience, especially considering how much money we spent. I can't recommend this company at all.

Update: The counter has started peeling at the seem where the two parts meet. We're always careful and don't put any hot pots directly on or anything. This is terrible.

Update from November 2, 2012: After going through a dispute resolution with the Ohio Attorney General, Skeeles agreed to replace the counter at no charge to fix the seam issue. We are encouraged that the company is working with us now and I will provide a final update upon completing of the replacement counter install .

Update from December 27, 2012: Replacement counter tops were installed on Friday, November 30, 2012 as agreed upon. This has resolved our previous complaints.

THERE WAS ONE PROBLEM WITH A MEASUREMENT, BUT I THINK THEY BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO CORRECT IT. IN ALL THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB.
