Shifflet Auto Care

I got a pretty nice Jetta from a friend, but it had 118K miles and needed a new timing belt, water pump, plugs/wires, and struts/shocks. Shifflet staff gave me a very accurate quote, and they did all the work in a timely fashion. These guys are real professionals, and they were courteous and helpful in every way. I have included the cost for all the repairs. It should be remembered that the plugs on this car can't be changed without removing the intake manifold, and this is a VW, so parts tend to be more expensive. Bottom line: I have a very dependable car that is fun to drive for $4000 total, and Shifflet helped me get there. They are my new favorite mechanics!

I had to initiate the first call to check progress. Mike gave me a price  of $368 for transmission repair. Price for transmission repair was approximately $20 more. Was charged approximately $200 more on the speedometer that was never repaired.  Had the vehicle for 10 days. When I picked up the vehicle, the cloth seats were greasy and dirty.

We were recommended to this shop from Tire Discounters (who couldn't provide the requested service). We were originally going to take it to a shop closer to home (we live about 20 miles from Shifflet) but the quote we got from Shifflet was $400 cheaper than the local shop. After we dropped the car off AND after they started work on the car, they called us to let us know they forgot to give us a quote for the spark plug replacement. All in all, the price we ultimately paid was equal to the price we would have paid at the local shop, except we had to drive 40 miles round-trip to get there. With that being said, they were very professional and knowledgeable. While the misquote was probably an honest mistake, were just left with a bad taste in our mouth as we felt we were a little taken advantage of.

Mike and his team are a joy to work with. They did a thorough diagnostic on our Mini Cooper; explained what needed repaired and changed our oil, despite a stuck oil pan plug - all without adding needless charges or trying to sell us on things we don't need. They are very professional and courteous. I will definitely be back for the repairs and can highly recommend Shifflet Auto Care.

Although the service and staff members weere very good, there was a bit of bait-and-switch tactics going on. The Auto Care Super Saver card I had clearly said that they would apply a $34.71 value to a full-service oil changes. But when I went to upgrade to full synthetic oil, they claimed that the card had a misprint -- and they only credited me about $25 toward synthetic oil.
Yes, a roughly $9 discrepancy isn't that big of a deal -- considering the retail cost of that oil change service -- but it's still the principle of the thing. I'll be back, but I won't take the value of a third-party "deal" at face value anymore.

ABLE TO FIX WHILE I WAITED. THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. THEY TOOK ME IMMEDIATELY!

THE REASON I GO TO THEM IS BECAUSE THE FIRST TIME I WENT THERE I HAD AN OLDER CAR & TOLD THEM I NEVER WANT TO DO ANYTHING MAJOR I'D RATHER GET A NEW CAR THAN PAY THAT'S WORTH IT. THEY ARE VERY VERY HONEST. I WILL KEEP USING THEM.
