Reliance Design Build

During the design phase, the designer was great and brought to life our desire to be true to the era of our house while still bringing through modern amenities. She understood our vision and was great at laying out different options for us that fit in our style and stayed true to the feel of our older home. The lead contractor was also wonderful to work with and was very clear and transparent

regarding the costs of different construction options and was flexible as we explored different lay outs for the space.  The Reliance team also provided an itemized estimate which was very helpful in managing our budget for the project  and were very helpful in working with the city to get proper permitting for the space.



The working crew that was at the house was also fantastic. We were extremely nervous to have people working in our home for several months but the Reliance team ended up being courteous and considerate of our family and our home. On multiple occasions they worked with us to prioritize areas of construction so that sections of our home could be finished and cleaned up and put back in use.



In the end, the final product truly captured the spirit of what we wanted and delivered on keeping with the feel of an early 1900s home while still being packed with modern conveniences. We look forward to using and enjoying the space for many years and would highly recommend Reliance to anyone looking to renovate or remodel. The team was great, they took pride in their work and we are very happy with the results!

Within first few months the materials used began to fall apart. The flooring was laid improperly and against hardwood floor best practices. There are huge gaps between floor boards. Another contractor couldn't believe they had installed a non floating floor in a floating style. It's a mess. The cabinets broke shortly after install. They came back to do repairs but didn't fix anything and I've been unable to reach them since that time. I've called MULTIPLE TIMES. The team never secured crown moulding so it fell right off the wall. They didn't know how to seal the beautiful granite - so it has seams and problems near the backsplash. AVOID this contractor at all costs. I have to get all of this work redone at MY expense. I sincerely encourage people to check references and go with any other contractor. Feel free to reach out for photos of how bad these items are. You wouldn't believe it until you saw it.

They came out and gave me a quote.  I did not use them right away and ended up calling back months later.  They came again and gave me a quote but they said the work would not be done for a period of time. They never really called back about this. I eventually called and the person that answered the phone said they would have to come out again because the estimates were only good for a certain period of time. When they came to give another estimate he quoted a different amount of time that the estimate was good for.
I was upset at the length of time everything was going to take. I also didn?t hear anything back form the provider multiple times. I?ve felt there was a bit of a run around and their statements made from multiple people have not coincided. What people told me verbally was different from what they told me on the phone and even when I saw them in person, again I heard something different.

My wife and I decided to go with Reliance after several quotes from various contractors for a complete kitchen renovation. The price was competitive or better than most estimates from other Angie's list contractors but Ben seemed to be more engaged and have interesting ideas and suggestions. They began the project on the day they quoted and the project was completed within six weeks.( one and a half weeks were waiting for the Granite company to cut the counter top slabs and install) The contractors arrived promptly every day and were courteous. The worksite was cleaned after each day. Ben, the project manager, stopped by every morning and evening to ensure all work was being completed and to make sure we were satisfied. They quickly addressed and resolved any issues and had no problem revising the plan for the additional details we requested throughout the process.  The workmanship was of the highest quality and met or exceeded any requirements or codes. It was as if they were completing the renovation on their own home. We are very pleased with the result and will definitely be contacting them for future projects.

Got the drawing. Decided to go with another company.

They were always here on time and when they said they would. We added an extra project onto them and they took it without any problems. They really did some amazing work for us. Everything turned out beautifully! It was nice working with them and finally get the bathroom remodeled. I have recommended their service to others. They were not the cheapest but they have high quality work and made sure everything was done to our satisfaction.

80's bath had an old vanity and fixtures. They installed a pedestal sink, new toilet, mirror and accessories as well as laid ceramic tile

for the flooring and repainted the walls. Everything came out great and was done in 4 days. They previously remodeled a full bath for us and both get compliments from family and friends.

I was pleased with the service. I thought they did a very good job and were knowledgeable. I enjoyed discussing the plan and ideas. Also, I thought the wife who was the designer, was extremely helpful. I plan for them to do the work this summer.

Ben and his team were wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were responsive, courteous, timely, collaborative and fun to work with. They gave suggestions for our space but also listened to what our vision was and we ended up with a great combination of the two. The work was started and finished in the time they said it would be, and any time we had a question or issue it was addressed immediately. We also felt their pricing was fair, and the cost overrun was relatively minor and nothing unexpected considering the age of our house (built 1921). I would highly recommend Reliance Remodeling (and already have)!

This was the most ridiculously amazing, inspiring, enjoyable and competent remodeling experience I have ever survived.  If you are looking for a high end, but reasonably priced design driven firm in Columbus, your search is over. Reliance is in a league of their own. If you are serious about creative and fun solutions to your living space challenges, you want to work with this company. Ben and Bruce are very talented, sophisticated professionals who communicate extremely well and put homeowners at ease with their competence, follow-through, open mindedness and drive. 
We originally just wanted a basic upgrade to our master bath. We ended up with a new footprint, more usable space, high-end technology and a tremendous appreciation for the artistic capabilities of this team. Ben's ability to suggest unique designs, materials and concepts initially made me nervous, but his affability and confidence immediately won me over. The team (Mike, Mike, Bruce) were on time or early every single day. Ben spent significant time on-site (daily visits), reviewing the work, checking in with me to ensure I was comfortable with the progress and keeping the project moving. The crew was very conscientious, kept the workspace as clean as possible, respected our property and maintained our privacy. After just a few days, it felt totally normal to have them in my home. We gave them complete access and I felt totally safe. They even handled an emergency while I was out of state, better than I might have managed it!
The finished product was incredible, much more than we ever dreamed possible. We LOVE our new space and are already thinking of the next project we want Reliance to design. I am actually looking forward to having my house ripped up and put back together, by Reliance.

A leak in the icemaker water line went undetected for several years and resulted in major damage to the kitchen floor and the bathroom ceiling and walls below the kitchen (house is a split level).  My insurance company sent a company to dry the damaged areas and then handed me a list of contractors to call for repairs.  I didn't even look at the list - I wouldn't consider using any other contractor.
I contacted Ben and he came the next day and we discussed options to repair the damage to the kitchen and bathroom.  I was only thinking of replacing the kitchen floor and the ceiling/wall in the bath below.  My house is almost 50 years old so the kitchen was out-of-date and not very functional.  While talking with Ben I asked him to look at options for updating more of the kitchen than just the floor.  I was curious to see what could be done and of course, what it would cost.
I met Ben at his office a few days later and was so excited by his design ideas, I knew immediately I wanted to remodel the entire kitchen.  I never would have thought it was possible to make the changes Ben recommended to my boring, old 1960's kitchen.  To make a long story short - the initial kitchen design evolved to include removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, installing, replacing and refinishing all the hardwood floors throughout the main level and installing a custom-designed oak and iron staircase.  The result is wonderful.  I never dreamed I could have a kitchen that looks like this - it's beautiful.
The kitchen and dining room were completely gutted and structural, electrical and plumbing was replaced or updated.  New cabinets, drywall, hardwood floors, granite (an island I never dreamed of having), new appliances, lighting, all new fixtures, etc.  In addition to the new (double sized)  kitchen the downstairs bathroom was renovated to include new ceiling and walls, new vanity and linen closet, new granite counter, sink and fixtures.  Additionally a two level, custom designed red oak and iron staircase in the entry - it is just beautiful - it's art.
Ben has great vision and taste.  He understood what I liked and I trust his recommendations completely.  In fact, it got to the point where I would just ask Ben to choose because I knew whatever he picked I was going to like as much, if not better, than what I would have picked.  That is a lot of trust and it speaks volumes.  
My project grew in scope and evolved over months and the quality of work and attention to detail never waivered - Ben or Bruce  stopped on-site every single day to check progress, answer questions, problem-solve with the staff, etc. They made sure I understood the process and was happy with the work performed and didn't have any questions.
 
This company is so unique and special.  Every person that works for this company is highly-skilled, professional and servicer-oriented.  Ben and Bruce do a fantastic job hiring staff - these are the nicest people and they care so much about the quality of their work and making sure you are happy with the outcome.  I had the great fortune to have Matt leading my remodel and he is exceptional.  He cares deeply about quality and his work is meticulous.  I looked forward to coming home from work everyday and seeing the progress.  In addition to Matt, I was lucky to have Mike and Mike and T....talented, great people.  I trust every employee of this company - their skills, personality, dependability and honesty.
It can be difficult living through a remodeling project but Reliance makes it as easy as possible on the family.  Ben and Bruce are completely committed to their clients.  They don't want you to be satisfied with the results, they want you to love it - you will.

It worked out fine. They were prompt, I think they did a fine job in installing the cupboard. I'm not sure all of them spoke English but there was one foreman that did and he did most of the communication. Maybe I contacted them in February and they came out and did the work in April.

Reliance Remodeling did a very good job for my bathroom overall.  I had purchased a Big Deal through Angie's List for a bathroom remodeling in early 2012 but for various reasons could not move forward on the arrangement and scheduling on my part.  Ben, who was the contractor, was very flexible with me as scheduling and planning on my part was very difficult.  Once I had a better plan, he walked it through with me, and also I had many items that were above and beyond the normal bathroom remodel which again he was flexible in doing with me and clear to explain the positives and negatives of everything.  Due to the amount of detailed work I had requested, some things had to be scheduled at a later time but Ben was able to keep me updated periodically on the next available time for work. 

Once everything was finished, the result was very good, the detail and expertise was clearly evident in their knowledge, experience and attention to detail.  Their working crew was very professional and were great to work with.  Overall, the bathroom looks fantastic, and I was very satisfied with their work.  I'd recommend them for anyone doing a remodeling job for bathroom.

Ben and Bruce are the best. They have it all together and are the essence of professionalism and courtesy. It was a joy to have them and their crew in our home. Mike Garrett has so much experience. He really knows all about remodeling there is to know. Mike Demming is a fine young man and is such a hard worker. Matt did a great job on all the things he worked on.
Ben and Bruce and their sister, Golnaz, are so great to work with. They kept us informed of everything that was going on and what would be done when. We are very happy with the results and it went so well that my sister is now going to hire them to do her kitchen. That project will start in a few weeks.
They are going to continue to do some work in our home. Putting in a new master bath cabinet and maybe a new tub in our main bathroom. I would be proud to have Ben and Bruce as my sons. They both, I'm sure make their family proud.

He came out and gave some ideas and did a fine job.

We were interested when Angie's list ran a deal from Reliance for the remodel of a kitchen of 10 square feet for $10,000.  As ours is a bit larger than this size, we contacted Reliance directly to discuss our options.  Reliance offered us the coupon price for the first 10 square feet of space with additional charges for materials and labor to complete the remainder.  We also requested several upgrades which also added to the cost.  Reliance also allowed us to trade off some items from the coupon specifications which we did not want for other items.
While the job started in early September and concluded in late November, an elapsed time of approximately 2 1/2 months, the construction crew was on site for approximatrely 2 1/2 weeks.  Much of the additional time was due to the ordering of materials to satisfy our upgrade requests.
While on site, the crew always arrived promtly and cleaned up before leaving. All team members were courteous. All were very focused on completing assigned tasks, taking very short lunch breaks.
We absoulutely love the finished product and highly recommend Reliance to others!
 

The framing and electrical repairs were not planned for, but not a shock to me as I had anticipated that there would turn out to be extra costs.  This home has had many owners over the years, a couple of whom were some not so very talented do-it-yourselfers as it turns out.  The past twenty years in this house have included much undoing of bad home "improvements."  Ben and his workers started the job a couple of days earlier than was scheduled which was a nice surprise.  The job was completed within the two weeks that he told me it would take.  Ben was courteous and responded quickly to my emails and phone calls.  He had three other employees who helped with the work who were also polite and friendly.  I was thrilled with how the bathroom turned out!  The quality of the work is very good.  Overall, I was extremely pleased with the experience of working with Reliance Remodeling and the final product.   However, I am a neat, detail oriented person and did notice some small things that bothered me a little.  I mention them so that other like-minded people thinking about using this company might be aware and point out these issues if they hire the company. The workers used my garage for a lot of the work, including drywall and painting preparation.  I have a fairly new concrete driveway and noticed several paint spots on it and on the garage floor.  I also noted some paint had dripped on a chair in my kitchen and on my back porch.  The good news is that I have been able to remove all of these spots.  I didn't notice them until several weeks after the work was done and didn't feel the need to call Ben about them.

It went fine. I got the design, consultation, and renderings. Between the time that I purchased the Big Deal and the time that the work was performed, our plans changed and we no longer want to remodel. However, I will keep the drawings in case our plans change.

Ben,his brother Bruce and 2 other workers put extra effort into the job to insure that we were happy with the project. We were able to take advantage of a promotional coupon that was offered by the company which enable us to add additional cabients and counter-tops which did add nicely to the kitchen.  Ben also installed a new dishwasher and over the stove micro-wave. So, our dream kitchen became a reality with new cabinets, and new soffitts, counter-tops and new laminated flooring   with new sinks and faucets with Ben and co-workers making it happen.  We are very pleased with this project and intend to use this company again along with recommendations for them.

My husband and I were both impressed with the comfort level we felt working with both Ben and his brother. One or both of them were on site daily.

Ben and his crew were on time every day.  They were very professional.  No job goes according to plan and they handled the little glitches by coming up with alternatives.  They did a great job and I'd have them back again.
