From start to finish, Norm Pitzer was the ultimate professional. I called him to look at a poor grading job, not completed properly by another contractor. Norm was prompt when he arrived to give me an estimate. He was specific on the work that needed to be done, and was extremely competitive in pricing, considering the amount of work that needed to be done. He made it a point to squeeze me in even though he was thoroughly booked because time was of the essence before winter weather arrived. He and his crew arrived on time and began work immediately. He did not accept payment until he had shown me the work that was done and made sure it was done to my satisfaction (no initial deposit was required). I would not hesitate to hire Norm and his crew again and would highly recommend him for any landscaping need anyone would have.

Had a great experience with Norm and his company! My lawn, after 20 years, had been eroding and looked awful. Norm put quality topsoil over the entire yard to bring it back up to a normal grade and seeded it...all in half a day. He was very helpful with explaining exactly what he was doing and why. He also gave us a detailed list of the maintenance we needed to do to help the lawn grow and followed up with phone calls as reminders. Can't say enough about Norm and his work!

I cannot say enough great things about this company. Norm, the owner, supervised the entire project in the fall of 2020. He is enthusiastic, energetic, knowledgeable, conscientious, and thorough. He followed up in the weeks after the grass was planted to make sure everything went according to plan and said he will return in the spring to do any reseeding if needed. They started by covering the lawn in high quality soil in which to replant the grass. They also suggested ways to reconfigure the lawn to avoid trying to grow grass in shady areas and artfully mulched the areas where grass would have a hard time growing. The grass grew in beautifully....so bright green and luscious! I could hardly believe it was my lawn! It was incumbent on me to water the lawn regularly after the planting, but that was an easy habit to get into. I couldn't be more pleased!

Norm and his crew did outstanding work for us! We bought our house a little over a year ago, and the flippers left the outside to get overgrown. We did our best to rip things out on our own, but needed professionals to set us up for success to maintain a rather large front yard landscape area. Norm ended up grading and seeding our front lawn, establishing a new landscaping line, bringing in flat rock to match what was already at the house, placing a river rock bed, planting 4 box hedges, 4 hydrangeas, and a dogwood tree. A huge amount of work that they finished in just a few days, and for a reasonable price! Norm is responsive, communicative, and all around a great guy to work with. We'll be calling him soon to work on our side and back yards!

Norm and his 2-man team were amazing. They came ready to work. Laid topsoil and graded all around the foundation, added window wells, grass seed, and leveled out the low-lying backyard. Very personable and professional. They worked for a solid 3 hours on a hot day and cleaned up when they were finished. Looking forward to working with them again. Price was very reasonable for the work that was completed. Highly recommended.

Quick response. Friendly and professional, but quote was outrageous. Ended up going with another company and saved $8,100.00. Other quotes listed here for the same work we were looking for stated they paid around 3,500.00. So, how our quote was 11,700 for a small city backyard is insane.

We called Norm the owner. He came out for an estimate a couple days later. He was very knowledgeable, and he gave a fair estimate that we accepted. He was able to fit us in quickly since he was doing a larger job in a nearby neighborhood. He was very professional and it was evident he has been in the business for a long time as he didn’t cut corners and wanted to make sure we were happy with his work. His work crew was also very nice and they explained everything to us and gave us instructions on care for the lawn after the job was done. Cleanup was quick and thorough. Highly recommend. We will definitely call them again for future projects.

Norm was fantastic. Came out and explained the options for tearing out my lawn and replacing it with sod and provided a detailed quote. After agreeing to the details, Norm came out and sprayed what little living grass there was to kill it. Within a week the guys were out tilling the lawn and getting up the old sod. The next day they came out and added topsoil and peat moss and then laid the sod (sod they drove to a farm in Springfield to procure). Norm set up my sprinklers and gave me written instructions for maintaining my lawn. So thorough! It is so worth the investment to have it done right the first time!

Norm is such a pleasure to work with.. He's very knowledgeable about lawn renovation, is a straight shooter who does what he says he's gonna do and is very efficient at getting it done on time and budget. He and his crew were prompt to the job site, courteous, and hardworking .. They actually went above and beyond the scope of the job to get it "right". Norm was concerned about causing any lawn damage to the parts of my yard he wasn't working on, and went out of his way to see that no extra damage occurred. They cleaned up immediately after the job was complete, and followed up by phone with me the next day, to discuss anything I may have concerns about.. He has encouraged me to call him to discuss any watering issues, or with other questions about after care of the newly seeded lawn. I have had a couple of questions and he has gotten back with me immediately to handle any issues. Any similar jobs of this nature in the future, I'm not calling anyone but Norm !!

My backyard had very little grass and was mostly muddy after all the rain we have had. I have tried for years to remedy the situation, putting down copious grass seed and had lawn aeration but nothing worked. I also have a large oak tree which I love but does not help with the lawn. I contacted Oakland Nursery and they recommended Norm Pitzler with Pitzer's Landscaping. He responded immediately. He came and inspected my yard and seemed very knowledgeable, combination problem of tree and not enough soil to grow grass, no matter how much grass seed I put down. He gave me a free estimate and explained thoroughly what he would recommend. I decided to go with him (no money down and also I was just so glad to have someone who was knowledgeable about my problem!) He came within a few days, very aware of weather and rain in the forecast, he prepared my lawn, grading and putting down new soil, seed and fertilizer. (was not stingy with these!) He gave me good information re maintaining my new lawn and answered all of my questions. Now just waiting for my new lawn to take hold!!

Norm was very quick to return my initial call on the same day. Norm came out right away, couple days after the call, looked over my yard, reviewed my options and gave me an estimate. I explained I was waiting on a couple other estimates for comparison and would call him if I went that route. Surprise, surprise, got tired of waiting and decided to just go with the company who actually displayed professionalism and expressed interest in having a customer. Even if I paid more, dont care. Norm was professional from day one, even offering a deal. He had his crew come in the day before a heavy storm that was predicted out of concern for my home and getting the back of the house protected. If I had more homes to fix, I'd call Pitzers EVERY time. Norm took the time to address my concerns, e plain the work and not only showed up with his crew, but came early. Will always recommend this company for your landscaping needs. I dont live in a big fancy home, and some companies d9nt want to bother with you you aren't in the "right area", but Pitzers treated me and my home with respect, and that goes a long way in my book! Great....we've been using Pitzer Landscaping for our firewood needs since 2013. Dependable and reasonable. The Price below was for 1 cord of wood.

I contacted this company because drainage issues seemed to be one of their specialties. Norm responded quickly to my request for an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and had several suggestions for improving the grading around the house and protecting the foundation from water damage. He also offered tips for rejuvenating the back yard without killing off the grass and completely reseeding. The work was scheduled and completed within a couple of weeks. Assigning a rating on price is difficult because I didn't get any other estimates for comparable work.

Norm and his team were excellent in cleaning up the back yard, grading it, putting sod down, and creating a stone pad. They also simplified a front shrub bed and filled in gaps in the front yard. They were very quick and did excellent work. You can see from the pictures (before and after) the good work done. Would highly recommend and use again

I contacted Norm for help with our constantly wet and soggy backyard. He called and came out within a day to describe my problem and what needed done. He was professional and courteous. Completed the job 2 days later and didn’t tear up my lawn! I needed over 16 tons of dirt added to various areas of my yard to solve my drainage issue. He even performed extra services beyond my quote !

Called Friday left a message requesting a quote. He called me back within an hour or so. We spoke about what I wanted done and he said he could get out on sunday if that was ok. I agreed. He said he would look at his schedule call me sat to let me know when he could come out sunday. No phone call sat, no call no show sun. Its now tues and no phone call still.

Norm the owner came to house and listened to what we wanted, made suggestions and wrote up a fair price which included Angies List discount. He and his helpers arrived on time and did a great job! We have received compliments from neighbors for the look. We found Pitzer's Landscaping on Angie's List and were glad we hired them.

Awesome! Norm was fantastic. He came out the next day after I called and gave me an estimate. The work was done timely and looked fantastic. He even came out a couple days after the job was completed to see how the grass was coming along. I would (and have) recommended Pitzer to my friends.

I saw Norman working on a neighbor's yard and asked him to do an estimate for me and he came right over and by the next day he had an estimate ready. It was midway between two other estimates I'd had done, and because he was responsive (while the other companies delayed and didn't return my calls), I decided to use him. Two weeks later, my wall was finished. (This was in December, so not the busy season for yard work!) Norman is a careful worker who takes pride in what he does, communicates well, and truly wants to make his customers happy. I was totally satisfied with his service and highly recommend him.

Called for an estimate and assessment of issues of settlement in our yard. Norm was very personable from the first contact, timely with initial appt, and very knowledgeable. Norm walked the entire property assessing what needed to be done and pointing out issues that we hadn't noticed. He throughly explained what would be done, timeline for completion, and provided a quote for the work to be completed. Norm started and completed the job within 4 days of the initial appt. The yard looks great..they did the whole job without the use of heavy equipment so our yard would not be damaged. Norm explained thoroughly what we needed to do to get the sod and seed growing, what fertilizer to use, watering schedule, and further maintenance needed in the future. We are very pleased with the completed project. I would definitely use Pitzer Landscaping again and would highly recommend them, as they do great work!
