Our basement was flooded due to a nearby tornado and we were assigned Paul Davis through my insurance company as our contractor for the mitigation. Paul Davis company came one day after I called them. They were at our house every single day, weekends included until our basement was completely dried out and ready for renovation. I can't say enough great things about how amazing these people were who came to our rescue. Paul Davis Restoration of Central Ohio is awesome!

Horrible service. Friendly folks who weren't really listening to me nor did they respect my time continually throughout the process. Worst part is that they were not upfront about their invoice/ pricing. They blew me off once and 'rescheduled' twice. There is a serious breakdown in communication between Dan who reviewed our kitchen and provided an estimate with the technicians on the ground. The fact that the actual bill did not reflect the work that was done speaks volumes. After all was said and down, the root of the problem was not corrected and they broke our kitchen sink plumbing in the process. Save yourself the headache and the premium that this company charges. I would not recommend them to anyone.

My insurance company sent Paul Davis out in response to a water damage claim. They set up fans and dehumidifiers on the first floor and basement. For which they charged 4 hours of labor on the estimate (30 minutes tops over 3 days was spent on setting up and monitoring along with a couple of other bogus charges in the estimate). My request to discuss the charges did not happen. On the first floor, where the water incident occurred, had linoleum flooring. It was never removed, the problem is Linoleum traps moisture. After day 3, the equipment was removed I was told it was dry (their water meters were turning red) and the job was complete. I decided to have a second opinion. When the next company came a few days later. Everything tested wet!!!!!!!!!! The basement ceiling was still wet, the 1st floor subfloor under the linoleum was wet and starting to decompose, and the water in the subflooring had spread out into the front hallway. Fans and Dehumidifiers had to run for another 5-6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had to tear out a section of the subfloor, it was saturated to the point it would not dry out. A month later and we are with a hole in our floor and waiting to get our house fixed. When I spoke with the Paul Davis representative I mentioned how he never took out the linoleum flooring, and he tried to defend himself!!!! STEER CLEAR!

"Good afternoon Mr. [Member Name Removed], We are a franchise and my brother and I own the branch in Licking County, OH. As reviews are very important to us, I would ask that you make sure we were the office that serviced your home. It does not appear that you were a customer of ours. I thank you for making this right as my office takes personal pride in our customer service. I am deeply disappointed that you had this experience with our brand. Thank you for reconsidering the placement of your review."

I don’t know how you have managed to stay in business as long as you have if you treat all prospective clients as we were treated. If you do not want or are unable to fill the work request, why don’t you just say so up front? Instead, we were consistently lied to as to when we should receive the estimate. Were were strung along for nearly two weeks with the promise of the estimate. When we called to follow up we were told you “were working on it as we speak.” That was that was 6 days ago and still no estimate have been received. We are finished trying to do business with you.

They did a terrible job. They hired the contractor that Paul Davis employee that sold the job a week after we signed the contract. They were using two different sub contractors so they fired the guy that was doing it and so the person that was then in charge of it was a subcontractor for Paul Davis and they had taken the work and they had subit to out to another contractor. They were smoking in the house. There was dry wall all over, dry wall sand, dry wall dust. I don't think they knew what they were doing and after a week of doing that we found them and we have cameras on our house when we found them smoking in the basement that is when we decided we didn't want to continue with the work so the franchise owner told us he was going to remove the crew. He did even know the work was going on. I called my attorney, my attorney told me to take all the tools out of the house. I told the guys that they had no longer had access to the house. They came over to get their tools which I had to catalog and take pictures out. They tried to put a lean on my house. It was very bad. My son was two years and I remember holding him the garage with all these guys coming in. Paul Davis franchise owner was supposed to come to the house to meet and talk to him and he didn't show up on time so they were collecting all their tools, I am holding my son and they are sort of threatening me telling me that be sad for him not to have the house after they put a lean on the house in order to get paid for the work they have done. I was thinking about calling the police Paul Davis guy came in and said that he was going to get it call figured out and he never sanctioned any of the work and apologized and he sent a guy in there to finish the work. We did end up paying them because it was looking like it was either be a legal battle or we just walk away. It was absolute nightmare. I would not recommend them. We used them because they were one of the approved vendors for my insurance company.

They were fantastic. I worked with Jason, and he kept me up to date and called me often enough to keep me in the loop on the work progress. The work was being done in an inherited house. The upstairs bathroom needed the toilet, shower, flooring, and duct work removed. There was plumbing damage and water damage to the downstairs bathroom directly below. The entire upstairs master bedroom, hallway, and stairs carpeting was also replaced. The tile in the entry way was also replaced. The downstairs closet had door frame and bottom piece of drywall replaced. They matched exisiting paint, trim, carpet, and floor patterns. After the initial demolition, I was a bit overwhelmed. In the end, it looked great and I was very impressed.

Following a break-in that damaged our front door, we were referred by our insurance company for an estimate for repairs. I got a call from Jason the same day that I called and a written estimate by that evening. All contacts with the company, Jason and Frank, were professional and timely. Arrived on time for the repair and did a very good job. Very pleased and would use them again without hesitation.

In the beginning, they were very good but as we were quoted for some other things and the prices were exorbitant. So we decided to go with someone else. Initially they were great, then after they thought they had the business, they slacked.

They pulled out the wall and found a bunch of water damage. They had the carpets pulled up and it took a couple weeks to get the condo assoc. to come in. The contractor had some issue and it took him a while to come back out, so we didn't have carpet for a while. When they came back in, they had to get the things removed from my sons bedroom. I came in to remove the items from the room, and I noticed that the flooring wasn't what we had agreed on. They tried telling me that Pergo (what I selected) was the same as Armstrong (what was installed). The walls in the bathrrom are pretty rough. The backing between the kitchen and the great room was cut wrong, and some of the repairs for the bathroom ceiling that the insurance covered was not done. I explained my concerns to the project manager about the floors, and he insisted that I chose the wrong name for the flooring.

UPDATE:

The following two items, listed below, were requested and met. Information about the installed products and warranty were sent via PDF. PDR Columbus finally conceded via e-mail that the flooring installed was not what was on the product selection sheet that was signed and faxed by me to the company on September 29, 2011. In response, the bill has been discounted by the amount listed below for the flooring mistake and the rough workmanship. All payment funds for the repairs have been received by Paul Davis Restoration of Columbus. Here is the request that I submitted to Paul Davis Restoration of Columbus via e-mail:

1. I would like to receive the product order sheets. Not a listing, but the actual order sheets from the contractor to the building supply company for the products ordered and installed in the condo. Since the selections were switched from the initial product selections, I need exact product reference to apply for manufacturer warranties. Manufacturer warranties apply after your year warranty of workmanship, so this is absolutely necessary.

2. A discount on the total bill for the flooring mistake and rough workmanship. I would like a discount of $875.76 and an updated bill reflecting this discount. With the discount, the amount owed is then $8,000, which, when paid, you then will consider your bill paid in full, and no further billing or claims for payment of any nature will be made from me. _____________ The only matter that was not addressed was the missing and damaged items (GPS missing and speaker broken). The speaker worked before the new floor was installed. It was disconnected from the TV to allow the workers to complete the floor installation. It was moved by the workers to the outside of the condo unit on to the patio directly outside and connecting to the bedroom. The floor was installed. It was then moved to the inside of the condo unit. The renter reconnected the speaker and it no longer worked. The GPS was in the condo before the repairs. The unit was placed in a box during the repairs. The GPS unit has not been located after the repairs. Adam Weigand, the owner of the company, asked that a police report is filed which would require questioning by the workers and anyone else that might have been in or near unit during the repairs. This has not been completed as of Tuesday, January 24, 2012, but will by myself and/or the renters, by the end of the month.

At this point, I consider the case resolved.

Overall it went well. They came to start the painting job and then the workers went on vacation, so then I waited a week for them to return to finish the job. They were very nice and I was willing to work with them.

We dealt with them 2 years ago when we had a house fire. It was all insurance work so we didn't spend anything. They were very professional and were great to work with. They did a terrific job and nothing was left undone. I would use them again.

The process was drawn out over a 3 month period where we couldn't use our downstairs. In the end our insurance company ended up paying to completely replace our carpets.
Response from PAUL DAVIS RESTORATION & REMODELING

"This particular claim was called in to Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling on November 25th. It was at that time that the first carpet cleaning was scheduled for December 8th. After the initial carpet cleaning, we were called out to re-clean the carpets per the insurance adjusters request. After the second cleaning, both Paul Davis and the insurance adjuster concluded that the stain was no longer visible.... However, the homeowner felt differently and we were sent out to clean the carpet a final time on December 22nd. Although our company and the insurance adjuster were pleased with the results, the carpet was non-salvaged per the homeowner's request. Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling strives for customer satisfaction in everything that we do. It is assured on a claim that we will work with homeowners and insurance adjusters to restore damaged property in a timely manner."

They were four hours late, the people who showed up were intoxicated, and I had to climb on the roof to make sure that they did what they were supposed to do. After that they said that I would not be charged, but I of course was (6 months later). I would NEVER use this incompetent and dishonest organization again.

Adam and his crew were awesome. Their price was way below the other company's we had bid the same project (nearly half). They came in and got start right away. The project was finished ahead of schedule. They kept us apprised of every step along the way. They did a beautiful job. We were so pleased with their work, we asked them to bid on the rest of the work to finish the rehab. They won that bid, too. They have been patient and open to everything we have asked of them. They definitely go above and beyond.

I was very pleased with the responsiveness of Shawn - he seemed to be on top of things. Worked with me on the timing and helped with the insurance process as much as possible. He scheduled for the workers to come and put in the garage door along with all the other things. He helped me through what otherwise could have been a very difficult situation. After the insurance finally came through there was only one small delay in getting the wall guy to come out - a few days - he was busy with another customer and couldn't come out when scheduled. But overall I was very pleased with the work. Everyone was very, very nice that we worked with on this.
