The work coordinator, Patrick Gulla spoke with me on the phone and came out in person to view the repair sites prior to sending his crew today.  He was very helpful and answered all my questions.  He quoted me a price.  
Today, the technicians arrived early and got right to work after I showed them the repair areas.  There was no mess to clean up.  It only took about 1-1/4 hours to complete everything.  Both men were friendly and helpful.

Excellent customer service. Patrick met us at our house and informed us that what we had was in fact asbestos tape. He even looked in our attic to confirm we did NOT have asbestos insulation. He said he knew it was asbestos but I wanted to have it tested just in case. He gave me the information where I could have it tested myself and helped me safely get a sample. He answered all of our questions even after he left - with a quickness.
The crew who actually did the work arrived early, were very personable and helpful. They too answered all the questions we had and stayed in touch with me throughout the day on their progress. This wasn't something I knew we would have to do so I was not very happy when I found out.. I couldn't have asked for a better company to make this process any smoother. Highly recommended.

In the process of getting estimates to replace old furnace and central AC in home built in 1940s discovered that joint tape used on all ductwork and plenum contained asbestos.  Sought estimate/recommendations for addressing any problems from Northern Services and received prompt call back to schedule estimate visit.   Representative Kevin arrived on time for scheduled estimate visit and explained various options (removal of some ductwork/abatement/encapsulation) vs. removal of all ductwork, etc.  We determined based on condition of materials and advice that most sensible approach would be to have Northern completely remove the plenum and jointed ducts connecting to same and encapsulate joint tape on remaining ductwork in basement with rewettable cloth. 

Very efficient communications followed (required coordinating with the HVAC contractor we selected).  Once we selected contractor for HVAC work, contacted Northern to confirm that we wanted to proceed and scheduled their services day prior to installation of new furnace and AC.  Crew of two and estimator/representative Kevin from Northern arrived promptly on scheduled day.  Kevin carefully reviewed work with us and workmen.  Workmen then sealed off basement entry points and proceeded to do work described.  Crew used care re: basement sealing and use of specialized equipment to control air flow during removal/abatement process.  Also, kept upstairs entry and hallway clean and removed all materials for transport to Frank Rd Recycling Solutions.  Performed excellent work in covering remaining joint tape with rewettable cloth (required lots of detailed nook and cranny work) and finished the day on time to allow HVAC contractor to come next day to remove remaining parts of old furnace and install new furnace and AC.  Company provided thorough and complete documentation of all services performed and evidence of their conformity with processes involved with asbestos handling.  We were really happy with the company's process, work, and professional follow through.  

They did a good job of working with other contractors on this HVAC project.  Removed all old ductwork and encapsulated any remaining asbestos tape left on edges of vertical runs to first and second floors.  Were on time and completed entire project in one day hauling away all old ductwork. 

Nate was very responsive and they completed the job on time and with not much mess. Price was competitive, and with 10% Angie's List discount, they were cheaper than the others.

He was late to the appointment for the estimate. He set the appointment for 9:00, and at 9:20 wasn't here. I called and the secretary said he was on the other line, could she take a message. When I spoke to him and asked where he was, he apologized and said he got side-tracked. He showed up about an hour late (from the original appointment). He looked around in my attic and told me that he would email me an estimate. He came on a Wednesday and said he would send it. On Friday when I called to get the estimate (they had not called) he said he would send it that day. I had to follow up Monday morning again. He said, "Oh, you didn't get the estimate?" I gave him my email again and he sent it through saying he had my email wrong the first time. His estimate was over 3 times higher than the company I decided to hire.

JIM JARRETT CAME OUT TO GIVE THE APPRAISAL AND MEASURE THE DUCTWORK IN PLACE. HE IS VERY PERSONABLE AND EXPLAINED A BIT ABOUT THE COMPANY AND HOW HE CAME TO OWN IT. HE HAS MANY YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. HIS REP, PAT, CAME ON 4/29/05 WITH 2 OTHER MEN TO DO THE ACTUAL WORK. THEY WERE COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL OF MY HOME. PAT EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THAT WAS TO HAPPEN, WHICH INCLUDED SEALING OFF ALL THE FLOOR VENTS, AND HANGING POLY WRAP TO KEEP DUST FROM THE MAIN LIVING AREAS. THE MEN WORE SUITS AND RESPIRATORS. IN ADDITION, A MACHINE WAS HOOKED UP TO EVALUATE AIR QUALITY AND AFTER IT IS SENT TO A LAB, I WILL RECEIVE A FULL REPORT ON FINDINGS. PAT INFORMED ME WHENEVER THERE WAS SOMETHING MORE THEY HAD TO DO SUCH AS CUT FURTHER INTO A CEILING FOR MORE DUCTS FOUND. THE CLEAN UP WAS COMPLETE AND I WAS ASKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE THEY NEEDED TO DO. PAT EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS ABOUT 4 MORE FT OF DUCT THAT WAS NOT SEEN BEFORE. I ALSO RECEIVED AN A.L. DISCOUNT OF 80

WE FEEL THEY UNDERESTIMATED THE AMOUNT OF WORK TO BE DONE.

THEY SANDED, HEPA-VACUUMED, CLEANED WITH A BLEACH SOLUTION, AND SPRAYED WITH ANOTHER SOLUTION. THEY RESPONDED VERY QUICKLY.

THEY WERE POLITE, HELPFUL, AND PROMPT. THIS KIND OF SERVICE IS TECHNICAL AND THE QUALITY IS HARD FOR THE AVERAGE OF PERSON TO UNDERSTAND, BUT QUALITY APPEARED TO BE HIGH.

JIM IS A GREAT PERSON TO WORK WITH! HE HAS MADE HIMSELF ACCESSIBLE MANY TIMES TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. IN ADDITION, HE PROVIDED ME WITH ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED WHEN I REQUESTED IT. HE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HAS REALLY PROVIDED PEACE OF MIND TO MY FAMILY.

THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE ABATEMENT WORK IS NOT AS HELPFUL AS I HAD WISHED. ALL COMPANY EMPLOYEES WERE COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. THE FINAL COST WAS LOWER THAN THE ESTIMATE.

DAVID JARRELL PERFORMED THE INSPECTION & ASSESSMENT OF MY 100 YR OLD HOUSE. HE WAS EXTREMELY THOROUGH, CHECKING DOORS, MOLDING, FLOORS, WALLS, ETC. VERY GENEROUS W/ ADVICE & TIPS FOR REMOVAL STRESSING SAFETY ISSUES AND PROCEDURES. PRICE QUITE BIT LESS THAN EXPECTED.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THEY SPENT TIME ON TEACHING YOU THE DANGERS OF ASBESTOS. THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH ME AND THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS WONDERFUL. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.
